A family member of mine has been here for a while now and our family has had a very positive experience. The staff has always been warm, patient, and caring whenever we visit her. It definitely seems they truly get to know the residents personally which meant a lot to us. The transition of getting her there wasn't easy, but they were very helpful in the process. No place is perfect, but we've seen firsthand that the employees truly care and work hard every day. The facility is clean, the residents are treated with respect, and communication with our family has been great. read more

My brother has been living at HP AL since 2018. My experience with the owner, management and staff has been wonderful. They are available and communicate well with me. They are very professional, supportive, and provide my brother with extensive care. After a recent hospital and nursing home stay, they helped arrange his return and subsequent rehab at Hyde Park Assisted Living to aid with his recovery. With their encouragement and support, he no longer requires a wheelchair and constant oxygen. My brother enjoys the food and the diverse group of residents, who are always friendly, very cheerful and show concern for one another. He considers HPAL his home, and is very happy there. read more

The staff at this facility are extremely rude and unprofessional. I spoke with 3 different employees and each one was worse than the previous. I would never send a family member to this facility. As someone that works in a similar field I am disgusted at the way I was treated. While on "hold" I over heard them talking about me as well as the person I was calling about. They could use a lesson in professionalism. I feel sorry for the people that are living here as I can't imagine they are well cared for based on my experience. read more

I'm sorry to say this home is not a place I would ever trust to take care of any family member. They're us no one in charge that cares about the people. When the owner is mot around. The residents are not properly cared for. They are not attended to properly They staff leave dirty diapers in the hall ways . The residents complain about the food. Who would give Sr citizens tacos Salami sandwiches for lunch. Most of them are on special diets. They complain but there is no management present and the administrative staff are out on their cell phones smoking. Horrible. read more

One nurse is always rude and not helpful. Doesn't even make sure residents take meds. Found so many pills in my sister's clothes after she passed away. Only wants residents money but doesn't wanna give the care. Constantly isolated them and barely checked in on them. Meals were hit or miss. If you don't check in on family some of the staff will either yell or ignore them.. Lost my sister's laundry twice. read more

Went tour this facility today. My first impression was not really impressed. Very gray and gloomy. No life really but to take consideration that it is winter. Not much too look at. From the inside look kind of like a dormitory. Again not very bright and welcoming. I did smell cigarette smoke when I first entered. But there after it was fine. It was very clean. The residents were waiting to enter the cafeteria for lunch. Because there was no one at the reception area i took the opportunity to ask the residents how they liked living there. For the most part I got a nod and one gentlemen complained his room was freezing. Another resident praised the staff and really liked it there. Because it was the weekend not much was going on. She said its more things happening during the week. One of the residents was happy to show me around she was very sweet. Then one of the aides came out and explained tgat she was helping with lunch for the residents but offered to show me around if I could wait for 20 min. Wich I did. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. The residents seem to adore her. She explained the daily activities and showed me the room options.most of the rooms have a bed night stand a dresser and a sink. The bathrooms and showers are separate. But there are many of them. Some of the private rooms do have a bathroom. Something I defiantly would need for my dad. Going out in the hallway to get to the bathroom might be a "too late" situation. The rooms are kept up by the staff daily and they do laundry there also. They have a nurses pharmacy where the pts have to come and get there medicine. So you know it is managed properly. If a resident doesn't show for the meds they will looked for by staff and make sure they take it. Staff also waits for residents to shower so they do not injure themselves. The showers are cleaned after each person . The dining are resembles a cafeteria setting. And the menu was not too much option. There activity are arts and crafts. Exercises. Bingo and coffee socials. The residents can go out and walk around. The plus is a Dunkin donuts across the street. The residents absolutely express they are accommodated immediately by staff and that they are the most compassionate and helpful at all times. I did witness multiple times how the staff were helpful. Another resident praised the facility and was so happy there. They have doctors that come in as well as dentists and physical therapy. They use dial a ride as a means for transportation. They did express that they are in the process of getting a van and coordinating outings. I really appreciated the staff here. And the attentiveness and relationships they have with the residents. With a better menu option and a lol more sunshine/ cheery decor. It would be complete. Depending on the level of care you are looking for and the amount of indepence needed should be considered in your search. read more

My grandma is in this facility and I am not impressed. I walk in to visit her and most of the time there isn't even anyone at the front desk to see who is coming in or out. When there is someone there they hardly pay attention and they are eating and talking to each other instead of greeting visitors and helping the residents. The facility smells like cigarettes, it's not super clean for being a fairly new facility and the staff is not as professional as I would prefer for someone caring for my loved one. read more

Great place full of great people it can be seen as unprofessional to someone who does not know the people there and takes quick assumption but, I have been visiting there for a while. I got to meet some of the residents and the workers and they are all nice and happy to one another most of the time there are a select few who give the extra effort that cannot be asked for and that shows that they care for the residents who live there often times! read more

My mom moved into this facility on September 1rst. It was clean and the residents were treated with great respect. Sadly my mom went into the hospital a week later and passed away. Definately look at this place as they are treated with respect,which is something we all want for our aging parents read more

This place is very unprofessional, they neglected the residents everyday. When you get a worker who cares about the residents they get fired. The administrator is very rude to the residents. The administrator also drinks on the job cause I have smelt it on her breath when I went there many of times. They mess up on medication all the time there, I've seen with my own two eyes residents checking there pills before they take them and handing pills back to the nurses because they aren't suppose to be taking them. The owner yells at the staff and the residents. The nurses don't know how to meet the residents needs at all. The place smells very bad. The aides that are there are not helpful at all, if u are looking for one of your loved ones and ask staff for help they just sit there and don't help at all. No one is there to friendly greet you when you walk in the door. My loved one told me all the good aides get let go and the food is always cold and the menu repeats its self over and over and most times they never even go by the menu. If you are looking for a place to put your loved ones this is not the place. If you are looking for a job this is definitely not a good place at all. There are residents there that get threaded everyday they are going to be put out in the streets. This is the worst place I have ever seen in my life. DON'T PUT YOUR LOVED ONES THERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM. This place is very sad. read more

This place is definitely tons above the other place we previously put my mom! There were no "dirty diapers" as someone else posted. The residents told me the food was great on several occasions and we saw the owner on all three times we were there! The administrator knows her stuff and is very strict about compliance with state laws etc which I appreciated! My mom is much more comfortable here so I would highly recommend it! At no time were we without staff !! We were there for lunch and both times the lunch was balanced and tasty according to my mom. The halls were clean and clear of debris, all the doors to their rooms lock (or can be locked by the resident which the other place did not have! My mom feels much more secure at Hyde Park. Staff is always visible and if we couldn't find the administrator, she could be found by the staff ! I have a lot of respect for this place! I read another review here..."Melanie" must have been high when she wrote her review because what I saw was the complete opposite of what she claimed was there. She doesn't even have a relative in the place!!! (I asked). read more

IF 0 was an option that would be the rating I would give this place. The owner is completely off his rocker and insane my parents have been there since they opened. The owner has often been verbally abusive and the staff overturned is constant. A month ago the owner gave my parents an Eviction notice because my sister failed to pay a couple months rent. So we found a Nursing home that would take them. They need to have an evaluation done to which we scheduled with the office of the aging. When the nurses and my sister showed up to do the evaluation the owner came out ranting and raving and screaming would not let them on the property the police had to be called. My dad called 911 because he was having chest pains from all the stress. When the Ambulance showed up he said my dad was just faking it. The police had to escort my mother out to my sister's vehicle. The owner is basically trying to hold my parents hostage because he doesn't want to lose the money of 2 bodies in his facility. I have never witnessed such an insane thing in my life.. This facility should be closed and the owner be held accountable for how he is treating the residents. read more

Everyone who knows me, knows that I am a very particular person, especially when it comes to my mother's care. Since 2011 our family has struggled with my mother's health concerns. My mother will be 94 next month and due to injuries and situations related to aging, she has come to need assisted living. We had the opportunity to observe services and conditions in several area residences and we chose this place for my mother. She arrived there shortly after it opened in December 2017 and I have observed how the administration and staff know and care about my mother. Also, my mother is very cognizant of her surroundings and if there was ONE thing to complain about, I'd hear it. I HIGHLY recommend this residence!!!! read more

Hyde Park Assisted Living is a relatively new facility so it's quite clean overall and I would actually give it between 3 and 4 stars. My 99 year old mother became a resident there about 4 months ago and I visit her almost every other day at different times of the day. From what I've witnessed, the staff is caring and respectful of the residents. The food is pretty average but they do try and give their residents special treats on occasion. The activities include coloring, bingo,games, crafts and and simple exercises to movies and music time. My mom moves slow and the staff is very patient and caring with her. The nurse and administrator are easy to communicate and work with and the other residents are friendly and seem to take an interest in each other but also respect one another's privacy. I have no doubt there are better or more elaborate facilities but I'm sure there are also many that are not as good as this one. read more
