I stopped by this Hy-Vee to grab some flowers before I met up with someone and it was a really nice Hy-Vee. It was busy but it wasn't too bad finding a parking spot. It was easy finding floral department when I walked in, which was great because I didn't have much time. The had a great selection of flower bouquets. Self-checkout was quick and easy. I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I wouldn't have any qualms about stopping at this Hy-Vee again in the future. read more

This place is well stocked, modern, and has a superb beer selection. Prices were a bit high, but it IS a *super* nice store. For beer prices, they are good and bad. Duvel is $17 which is $4 cheaper than Wall to Wall. Conversely, New Belgian Tripel is $15 at Hi Vee versus $12 at Wall to Wall. Their prices on groceries were a bit high, as well, for the things I needed. But, the store is very easy to navigate and has lots of amenities. The staff are helpful and prompt. read more

I have shopped this Hy-Vee a couple of times a week for the last several years. The store is always clean and orderly. They have an excellent selection of meats, albeit a little pricey, but I like that I can go to the meat market and get fresh cuts. The one thing I do not like and quite honestly leaves a bad taste in my mouth is the manager of the meat department, Shawn. He is rude to employees and degrades them in the presence of their co-workers and customers, which is so unprofessional. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day a couple of weeks ago when he decided to berate a young man right in the open, but bad day or not, a good manger should never do that. The young man he was berating is a newer worker and has assisted me a few times now. He seems like a nice young man who works hard. Maybe it is time for Shawn to take some managerial courses on how to talk to and treat employees. If companies want to keep good workers they need to learn how to treat them. read more

Prices are way to high, they try to say they have sales but its still cheaper to shop elsewhere for most items. Almost every department worker is rude, lazy, and clearly doesn't want to be there. And the worst culprit of all is Shawn back in the meat department. Who is the Meat manager I might add. He constantly has a sour look on his face, I have personally watched him pass work to his already busy employees simply because he is lazy. There have also been a few different instances I have witnessed him first hand berating his employees for something as simple as walking a customer toa product. Which last i checked, the store encouraged. Seems like a small and bitter man. I would highly recommend removing him from a manager position at the very least if not outright fire him. I can say he is single handedly the reason i went back to getting my meat at fareway (which isn't much better) but i can only keep my cool so long watching a grown man getting in the faces of and yelling at what appear to be children. As mentioned, Amanda in Customer Service is incredibly rude. The staff by Self-Checkout are condescending and accusatory FOR NO REASON other than apparent smh. The cashiers who are underaged lack social skills and initiative. The food they serve during Weeknight Meal Time is meh. The service is very inconsistent. Some servers are incredibly attentive while the majority don't listen to customers and pretty much act like they hate their job. The managers are friendly, and the staff at the Liquor section are very knowledgable, courteous and efficient. This is the only reason for the 1-star review. Otherwise, Hy-Vee Shadow Lake Papillion is dismal and certainly does not deserve the BEST GROCERY blah blah blah it was just named as. Further evidence popularity contests are a sham. Prices are not competitive. Items are often mislabeled on the shelf or rung up incorrectly at the register and the onus is on the customer to prove that the price is wrong. The response from Customer Service is "That's the price it rings up as, that's the price." They do not care about the customer experience at all. The baggers do a poor job at distributing items within bags so that produce are on top and heavier items are on the bottom. I've had loaves of bread put under raw meats and canned vegetables. I go with my own bags and I would rather eat the 5 cents per reusable bag credit than have someone bag my items - self-checkout at least i know i can get items home safely. Wahlburgers is decent. The food that comes out of the kitchen is indeed tasty. But the service at the Wahlburgers counter is unwelcoming and inconvenient. I will have to investigate if there is an app i can order to-go rather than have to wait for service at the counter. Never tried Starbucks. Not been to the Pharmacy. The Floral Department has helped me with my purchases and exceeded my low expectations. So 1-1/2 stars. I would give 2 except the place is just terrible. Really avoid if you can. I wish I could. Good selection, customer service on point, clean and rarely ever see green meat on the shelf. My cousin applied there. He's neurodivergent. He worked for Hy-Vee in Omaha 21 years ago for a very short amount of time... and didn't remember. He applied at this location last year because he had such respect for this company. When asked if he worked for Hy-Vee, he said no because (as he warned them) he's neurodivergent and has trouble remembering short-term events and jobs from the way past. He did give them a heads up that he may have though. I suppose Hy-Vee only likes their disabled people to be physically obvious because he was hired, then fired before he even got on the schedule. They're still sending him retirement options... even though he's nowhere near retirement. So, my respect for Hy-Vee has gone downhill and I now shop at Baker's (as does my family). One star for the store's finer points, but zero for their tolerance of hard working mentally disabled people with long-term memory loss. Is this review personal? Yes, because the type of upper management and their character also speaks to the company, The upper-management here - particularly HR - has a lot to be desired. I love the selection at Hy-Vee. But it always feels chaotic. A LOT people shopping every hour of every day. The good news is that they always have a ton of staff working. So there's always someone to ask for help and the lines move quickly. Maybe it's just me, but I always a hard time finding things. Spent nearly an hour here trying to hunt down some ghee. Finally found it and got the last jar in the store. Meat, deli, and produce selections are always great. And it you love sauces, like I do, it's so much incredibly plentiful here! My sister-in-law and I stopped in quickly to grab a few items on our way home. I had never been to this particular store let alone a Hy-Vee store. I was amazed in how large this store was and how much they had to offer honestly. It took a while to find what we needed, but the few employees that assisted us were super friendly. The store was clean and well stocked even for 7:00 pm on a Saturday night after a snow storm. I was really impressed with their shipping cart cleaner too. This Hyvee is part of the Shadowlake shopping center, and I am so happy there is one within a short distance of all the other eateries and shops in this shopping center to get that one thing you need to pick up for dinner (or do all your shopping). This location is so similar to all the others across the Omaha Metro- gas pump, friendly staff, great A/C, clean, well stocked, good selection of foods and goods, and best of all, 24 hrs and has a Starbucks! Finding a good breakfast spot since a somewhat return to post Covid normal has been a challenge. A couple of weeks ago we tried the Market Grille at the Hy-Vee in Papillion. What a pleasant surprise. The young waitstaff work their butts off to see that customers are taken care of. My wife and I ordered the good start breakfast and Hy-Five breakfast. The eggs were prepared as ordered. Love their sausage and the fresh fruit medley that came with my breakfast was fresh and ample. Good Bloody Mary and Mimosa were a great way to top off the meal. We sat at the bar which allowed us to chit chat with the staff. The prices are great and their breakfast choices are varied. read more

A little over priced, and recently learned that as of January 31st 2019 you can no longer get points for gas, with prescriptions. They probably should bring that back, or I foresee a mass exitis of points-for-gas-doers. I will say though, if you're within their grocery food delivery service, it's a TOTAL lifesaver and time condenser. I've used that on more than one occasion, when being lazy was my game. I know it's really unfair to judge a place based on one crappy employee but I'm sure hy vee will survive. More than an hour before closing I was using the self checkout. After I start, an employee comes to shut them down. Very briskly said to me "don't hurry" as she was passing by. A few minutes later insisted she start bagging for me. There's a reason I use the self checkout and it's because I need to carry my groceries up 2 flights of stairs so the less bags the better! So I ended up with basically 1 item per bag. Very annoying. It's not really hy vee's fault she was rude to me, but when she's on the clock they are responsible for her behavior. Maybe don't say you close at a certain time but have all your employees closing the store down way before that? Other than that, it's a store. I'm giving this place one star because I don't have the option of giving it zero stars. I've come home with rotten, spoiled food more often than I can count. I've had to wait and buy my dairy from another store because all of their cheese was warm to the touch...and who knows how long it was like that. This past fall I noticed some turkey kielbasa with a 4th of July ad on the front, and when I picked it up I saw that it had expired months before. I took the top package with me and showed it to the cashier when I checked out. She said, "Ok," and tossed it under her register. She didn't call a manager to have the rest pulled off the shelf. Tonight I picked up some Bob Evans mac & cheese for dinner, and when I got home I discovered that it was moldy and had expired on 5/11. This is the only HyVee I've been to that wasn't awesome. You can get: Italian food (pizza & pasta), Chinese food, soups (3 selections daily), salad bar, or anything from the store deli counter. Of course there's a full fountain drink area. How it's different from other Hy-Vee buffets: There is a food preparation area behind the salad bar, so everything is kept fresh and fully stocked. The ability to make the quick stop when leaving the office to pick up a few items is also great. What makes this Hy-Vee deserve the full 5 star salute as opposed to the sub par results of other Hy-Vee stores around Omaha is their employees. Without fail, whenever I go into a Hy-Vee (whether it be for lunch or groceries), I am provided EXCELLENT service from all employees. From the cashier to the manager that asks customers if they are finding everything ok... This Hy-Vee is Amazing. Flew into town and happened to forget a few things. This location was close to where I was staying and I was able to swing by quickly and grab what I needed. I will say, the prices are a bit extreme. I used to work for Hy-Vee when they actually cared about the customers and you paid for the friendliness and help while shopping. All you see now is groups of employees (mostly manages up front at the registers) standing together talking. If you're going to talk about work, talk off the floor. It looks like you guys don't work and let customers stand in long lines. It may be worth the extra 2 miles to drive down to the Walmart where we're used to lines but the prices are cheaper. read more

We are new to Nebraska, moved here from Reno Nevada because my husband is in the Military. At first we were so excited to see what HyVee had to offer and try their food. Unfortunately, the young man working the register for deli was very rude. When we asked how it worked, if we went inside and ordered or got food from the deli he gave us a vague answer. After we got our food from the deli (a wonderful man attended us) and proceded to pay he ingnorantly asked us if spanish was our primary language because he heard an accent. We answered "No" and brushed it off and asked for an extra drink. He then proceeded to speak to us as if we were toddlers and told us he had a gift for hearing those things. I was so upset at the poor etiquette from this young man I refused to eat. I dont think we will be returning to HyVee again. read more

We live close by and visit quite often. We always meet with clean courteous surroundings and staff. There is always someone close to help and almost all will ask if they can. We have put it to the test with returns, complaints on specific items, and finding rarities. We have never had an issue and with our frequency of use and pickiness of specific health foods I am still quite pleased. We are happy they're in the neighborhood and so broad in their spectrum of product including their grill, pizza, breakfast buffet, delicious soups and convenient pharmacy (although we haven't used it) Starbucks, and SAC Credit Union. One drawback, the parking lot is rough to navigate whether walking or driving. Just take it slow and be on your guard but everything else is a breeze! read more

I don't shop often at Hy-Vee since it's not the closest grocery store and it is a bit pricey. However, Hy-Vee does have a decent selection of wine and spirits at a fair price. I'd give them four stars for that! Today I went in to get a bottle of whisky. Went to the register to check out. There were two people ahead of me with their carts full of groceries. The registers in the liquor section are not set up for handling large orders. Normally, there are two people to work the registers so I looked around for the second worker who was apparently too busy stocking and end cap to help check people out. My time is more valuable than the one or two bucks I would have saved so I left. I got into my car but I couldn't let it go so I went to customer service to "complain." The customer service rep was patient and listened to what I had to say. She said that they cannot turn anybody away from the registers in the liquor section. I replied that they could at least restrict customers like they do for the express lanes. She told me that they don't turn people away from the express lanes if they have too many items. So the express lanes work only on the honor of the customer? Her response is why I gave a two star rating. What did I learn, if the regular lines at Hy-Vee are too long, be an a-hole and get in the express line with your full cart or better yet, go to the liquor department and piss off the customers there. Oh, this doesn't work if you have items that must be weighed since the registers in the liquor department don't have scales. Yeah, I know, first world problems. At least I got a little joy typing this. Guess I won't be heading to Hy-Vee anymore. No big loss to either of us. read more
