Wanted some groceries so I could have something other than meat dishes. I found shrimp skewers and salmon ready for the grill. Looks good. Hopefully they taste good as well. And some watermelon and grapes for fruits for breakfast. The hotel breakfast isn't my fav. Also got some instant noodles/ramen. Just want some plain old instant noodles - but spicy! Self checkout but needed help for items not recognized. Associate came over to assist. And crazy but there are shopping bags because I had a moment of 'oh no! I forgot my reusable bag.' That was a nice surprise. Vacay mode so didn't think about bringing those along. Not a shopping trip. And I can reuse those for my dirty clothes and trash cans at home. Clean store. read more

I like coming to these Hy-Vee stores but this store however disappointed me just because it was a disorganized mess compared to other locations. Many of the items that I normally looked for like Zevia energy drinks and the Red Mill snack bars seem to be non-existent here for some reason. Staff here was absolutely friendly so they deserve a star for that. Store layout was not the best either which makes it hard to find certain items. Ample amount of parking is here as well. It's a little bit pricey compared to other locations as well. Overall it's a sub Par grocery store but it's not the worst place either read more

Rating their cafe as a 3, it doesn't try to be good and at that, they succeed. We had lunch there 3 weeks ago. Pork tenderloin and fries, nothing complicated. Was slow, but not as bad as some places, the food wasn't really hot, and don't understand that as just a few steps from the grill to the table. Price is also a middle-of-the-road thing. Normally a very good selection of high-quality food. Usually very friendly and accommodating staff. Usually a very clean store. Usually very high full-service prices in exchange for all that quality. BUT Then I got to checkout. 4 lanes are open with people queued up into the aisle from all 4 lanes while two employees are leaning against the counter in self-checkout (self-checkout despite full service pricing mind you) and two employees shooting the breeze behind the customer service counter. Suggestion. How about using some of those idle employees to open another couple of full- service lanes to serve your customers paying full-service prices? I hate giving a poor rating to a good store that has made a bad business decision. Know your customer base. Full-service pricing merits full-service service. read more

Very expensive. I Chicago there is produce supermarket where I get limes 10 for $1. Here it's $0.59 per line and $0.79 per lemon. The limes from Jerry's in Chicago were better too. Juicier. So the limes here are like to be used sparingly since they are 600% more expensive. read more

Like other reviewers, I have had a lot of trouble with this Hy-Vee. ALWAYS mistakes with my Aisles Online orders and the staff are incompetent. Was there at 6:03pm today and was told I would not be able to cash in my cans and bottles since it was after 6pm. I have no idea how I am supposed to know what the can redemption hours are. Are they posted somewhere? I do not live in Council Bluffs so I will have to drive back. Who knows if I'll be able to redeem my cans and bottles the second go around. What a pain. In from Phoenix visiting my 90 year old parents.... showed them how to utilize online ordering with parking lot pick up (just like we do in Phoenix) to avoid human contact. Website experience was nice and easy, process was nice and easy -- got home and reviewed my receipt... Hy Vee charged a $9.95 online service fee!!!!! Are you kidding me??? That's 100% bull$&@" That was 20% of my total bill! Did not see that fee mentioned anywhere as I went through the ordering process or checkout..... simply wasn't there for me to say yes or no to. What a rip off -- if a grocery store wants consumer business, in-store or online there should NOT be a fee to shop - back in Phoenix no fee is charged. I called store but was told "that's a corporate thing".... Do not use Hy Vee online ordering unless you don't care about giving away money for nothing - find other options. read more

Ahhh good ole Hy-vee with your moderate prices, mostly friendly employees, and a decent selection of items. I miss shopping at you. We were back in town for a visit and had to stop by Hy-Vee. They were having a great sale on eggs (49¢ for a dozen) with coupon and as usual they just put the discount in without actually taking the coupon. That is a good thing trust me. We stocked up on staples for the family and got some snack food for ourselves. When we asked for help we received it and the cashier was kind (although a bit air headed). Husband said the bathroom was clean. I dislike parking at this location in general but we didn't have a terrible time on our last visit. If I had one complaint it would be some of your favorite brands are missing since they are a smaller chain store. This isn't exclusive to Hy-Vee obviously and shouldn't deter you from going. Okay maybe one more complain. They were having a sale on tortilla chips and they were all expired. 15+ bags of them expired by a week. The employee we pointed this out to assured us it would be taken care of. Shame though it was my favorite brand. Oh well. If you're in the mood for fresh produce, good quality meat, or just some good customer service I recommend Hy-Vee. read more

Specifically aisles on-line is terrible! Whoever is doing the "shopping" is either incompetent or lazy. We have ordered twice for pickup, several items were marked "out of stock" so I went into the store and magically, the out of stock items appeared on the shelves or in the meat case. We stopped at customer service made a point of comparison from the "out of stock at 930am and the magically in stock at 1015 am. We are trying to limit our exposure and this sort of thing makes me and my family less safe. Beware and be warned! read more

The staff is extremely disrespectful! I about left my entire cart in the middle of the store and just walked out. I definitely should have! I am always extremely picky about the grapes I get as I have small children, so I always look through the bags to find the bag with the smallest grapes. Then this young employee comes up to me and is like "someone saw you eating the grapes out of the bags and they saw it multiple times." He didn't ask, he accused me. I was extremely upset about how he came at me. I told him he needs to go watch the tapes then because I didn't eat any of them. He then just continues to tell me that doing what the person said I was doing was unsanitary... like ummmm.... yeah you d****** that's why I wouldn't do that. They hire way to many self entitled little brats and I will probably never go back unless it is to confront that same employee. I would give Negative stars if I could. read more

This Hy-Vee has been there for as long as I can remember, (other than building an entire new building in the same location about 10 years ago). Every time I go, the employees are always friendly and always willing to help if I need it. My only grip is the prices. On a lot of their food items, the prices are outrageous compared to other grocers like Target and Walmart, which is why I do most of my shopping at Target. But Hy-Vee does have some pretty good sales on a weekly basis, which is why I find myself going to Hy-Vee 1-2 times a week. And Hy-Vee is my go-to-place for alcohol. They have tons of options for all hard liquors and beer and some of their sales are pretty awesome. Even though i think some of the prices are a little high, I still go to Hy-Vee for those hard to find items and great sales. read more

My daughter received flowers for Valentine's day. What they delivered was a small bouquet from one of their everyday buckets of flowers. What was ordered was a $75.00 arrangement - they tried to scam us with a cheap bouquet!! Called the store manager and sent pics; he had another bouquet sent to her - typical of Hy-Vee - it still was a cheap arrangement and did not match the picture from the original order. After speaking to corporate office and getting the store director involved a 3rd bouquet was delivered; still not what was paid for! The store director, Mike tried telling us that the flowers don't look the same as the picture because "they push all the flowers forward in the vase". Never heard of that excuse before - the flowers were still not the same as the picture regardless of that poor excuse. Taking my floral AND grocery business elsewhere. read more

I have to say this store is Awesome! I came in today to get a few things in the bakery dept and as I was standing there I dropped a Fifty dollar bill from my pocket pulling out my phone. I would have never known until I got up to the register that I lost it. Eric Richie the store manager walked over and found it. He realized we were just standing there and came and found me. He asked if I could have possibly lost a bill or money back at the bakery. I checked and said yes. He hands me the $50 back and said have a great day. I was shocked. I love this store! read more

We celebrated my aunt's 60th birthday in the HyVee party room today! Even with the snow the parking lots and walk ways were completely clear and the room was ready for us and set up. Very happy with how everything looks- including the cake we purchased from the bakery! read more

Hy-Vee has been my go to grocery for ages. I've always argued that I'd rather spend a few nickels more here and know the store is clean and well stocked then go to a discount grocery and trip over broken floor tiles. With tons of selection, a great butcher, bakery, and deli, they are surely going to be your one stop shop. Chinese and pizza buffet style meal options and a huge salad bar give plenty of options to eat before your shopping. Starbucks is also available and always friendly and fast. I wish they had a larger bulk item selection, it always felt smaller then other stores that are in the area. But they do have a large alcohol and spirits store, so that's a plus. The pharmacy is nice as well, they usually fill scripts in a decent time frame and are very accommodating. read more

My husband get his refills from here and has had some issues with timing and waiting a while. I was there when he picked up his refill last time he went. The pharmacist was very helpful in answering questions. The pharmacy also stays open until 9 at night. This is very helpful. They have no rewards program that I am aware of. read more

This is a review regarding the cafe/restaurant portion of Hy-Vee. Whenever I'm visiting home from Los Angeles one of my favorite things to do is come here in the morning. All the frequent customers are so nice, and it seems to be quite a popular meeting spot for the retired. I often join my parents. They quit going to Panera across the street due to their overpriced pastries. Instead they grab a pastry or donut here. Oh, and the coffee is refillable, cheap AND delicious. I have never ordered a warm breakfast from the restaurant portion, only coffee; often I'll bring a banana and yogurt in from the grocery portion of the store. Oh, yes, and Tony who works at Hy-Vee - very nice employee! Since a problem in the photo department last Christmas he says hello to me whenever I'm visiting home and calls me by my first name. read more

I don't normally have an issue with Hyvee, for the most part they are great! But recently I had an issue when it came to the Hyvee Aisles. I placed my order the same day, and when I picked it up 6 hours later they gave me the wrong order, and then never took my payment even though I had called to tell them it was the wrong order and I needed to pay, and told the worker 3 times I needed to pay still with my card in hand. This was July 14, they finally called me August 5 and said I needed to come pay. I have no issue paying, but why did it take almost 3 weeks for them to notice? And not have workers listening to the customer about paying. Not only that they left me an extremely disgusting voice-mail demanding me to come in and pay or else it will be turned into the court...mind you it was less than $100, so a bit excessive. Personally the workers need to listen and pull their heads out if their butts. read more

I ordered a cake for a colleague who was celebrating a birthday the day BEFORE I needed it. - Called the bakery up told them what we wanted and sure, it would be ready the next morning for me to pick up. Well I got there, they couldn't find my order and one nice lady said "we have lots of new people here" and I told her that is just not an excuse. Well.....after looking for about 10 minutes, they finally found it and it was mixed in with yet another order. I talked with the manager and told him they need to train their employees better and that if they can screw up a simple cake order, why would I trust them to take care of something larger? Like a luncheon for say, 25 or 50 people?? I have never had a good experience when I have ordered something through HyVee and this experience pretty much was the final nail in the proverbial coffin for me. read more

Stopped in while passing through town, just to p/u hot food for the hotel, a bit of produce for b'kfast & moisturizer. The good: * Nicest staff I've ever seen at any market ever. Must be that good, old fashioned, midwestern hospitality. The old standby is "southern hospitality", although after living in 3 southeastern states, I rarely saw it. But, the midwestern states do have a lovely population of polite & respectful folks, overall, in my experience. * Lots of produce choices, people near the deli offering samples, understaffed a bit for an after work crowd, but employees were polite & took their time with offering friendly service. Management: I hope you recognize the caliber of employees you've got! The okay: * I'm from big cities, so used to stores which carry everything. This store has less options, especially in the beauty dept... I was looking for moisturizer as I misplaced mine on my trip. I found something, but it's not what I'd ever have purchased if not in need... bottom of the barrel brand, as far as quality... Vaseline Intensive Care. They had some very, very pricey options for supermarket skincare, so I just decided to take affordable. To be fair, I guess the prices are the same everywhere... just thought since the COL is lower, overall, it would filter down to market prices. * Not really good or bad & the customer service is great... but, checking out is fairly slow... small town-ish. I had to wait 10-min for the mngr to help the cashier in the express lane fix a mistake she'd rung in, while she checked for a brand of chips for the customer next to me... if I'd known it was a slight overcharge for produce, I'd have told her to forget it as there was a line of 6 behind me, some complaining about check out time in the express lane. The not so great: * Skip their deli fried chicken. The coating is terrible & some of the chicken was quite chewy, something I haven't encountered before in deli chicken. If you're used to Kroger or Ralph's quality, their deli chicken coating, at least, isn't it. It's is affordable at $8 for an entire chicken in pieces... but, I had a full bucket of discards. Solid 4* out of 5, mainly for customer service. The store's not bad. I have to go to the market tomorrow for some road supplies to carry along, but I'll try somewhere else, in the hopes of finding improved food quality & prices. read more

The main reason I come across the river to shop at this Hy-Vee is its great beer selections, some beers which are not available in the Omaha market. It has a better than average build it your own six pack section and a nice assortment of chilled beers. It is on my normal beer run list and if I find anything else in the store that Is a bonus. read more

When in Council Bluffs, this is our go to grocery store. They have everything you could ever want in a grocery store including a starbucks, a restaurant, and an awesome wine and spirits section. If there is anything you want that they don't stock, they order it for you. They always have great customer service and they hire a ton of people which is great for the community. Oh and they are employee owned. I am generally never disappointed when coming to Hyvee. The only thing that bothers me is sometimes their prices are slightly higher than their competitors but they do price match which is great if you do your research ahead of time. read more

The bakery here was fantastic! We recently held a surprise party for my sister, and they designed a cake from a pictures I saw, and it turned out perfect! The cupcakes were awesome as well! Hyvee touts their customer service but I found it lacking! We ordered a special cake a week in advance and it wasn't ready when we arrived. We drove in from out of town and it wasn't ready! The bakery manger didn't seem to care at all and they hurriedly "decorated" it and took &10 off. I didn't care about the money...I wanted what I ordered! I talked to the store manager and he offered to take monetary off but that wasn't the point. It should have been ready on time! I will NEVER make that mistake again and you shouldn't either. Some behind me in line said she heard what happened and I told her to NOT order a cake there! Oh, and a side note, when we were cutting our cake one of the plastic rings from the piping bags was in the frosting! Someone could have swallowed that and choked! Good place to stop for supplies if you traveling I-80. One of the quickest accesses to groceries and supplies in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. Easy on/off I-80. Good liquor shop, Starbucks, organic health market, deli, great selection of groceries, and right next to an easily accessed BP gas station - well-lighted with with covered pumps (canopy). Barnes & Noble is a block away. Also has free wi-fi available that you can use from your car if you park close to the building. read more

Hyvee is a very nice store to walk into and shop. I can say that they are the best grocery stores in the Nation. hands down. I hope more open up in this state and they put Crooks like Nash finch, Walmart-, Bag En-SLaves, and NO Frills, Out of business. (Or at least a very nice dent in their pocket books) Their in house Asian restaurant food is OUTSTANDING, their deli variety, bakery, meat counters and just everything in general is amazing. Be VERY CAUTIOUS when ordering form Aisles on Line ! I had made orders online with no difficulty UNTIL I authorized Substitutions. I ordered cheese spread and mashed potatoes. Hy vee was out of the brand of cheese spread and only had one of the two family sized potatoes I ordered. I had ordered enough items for free delivery. Since the store was out of my other items Hyvee would have to deliver my substitutes the next day and I was assured that the delivery charge would be waived (it wasn't). After my substitute items were delivered I noticed that I was over charged for the cheese spread. Hyvee charged me for the original cheese spread of 6.99 per tub instead of the substitute spread of 5.99 per tub. They only sent one tub of mashed potatoes. I called store and spoke to manager Dean. I told him my issue. He said he wasn't by a computer but he would look it up and call me as soon. Two and a half hours later I had not heard back. I called store again and asked for Dean and was told he went home. read more

We always make a point of stopping here when we do a road-trip from Colorado to Michigan. It makes for a great food/rest stop from being on I-80. The various food options are terrific and the service and friendliness of the employees is beyond comparison. Earlier this month my daughter and I stopped by to hit the great salad bar and grab some sodas. I also decided to refill my Nalgene hard-plastic water bottle - it was a special gift I received at Grand Teton Exum climbing school and labeled as such. At the cash register, I set the bottle down as we scanned our items; low and behold, I didn't realize I had left it there until 150 miles further down the road. I found their phone number and talked to a very nice young lady named Jay, I believe. She said they would mail it back to my address in Colorado at no charge. I told her I would send them a check for the postage and she said my patronage to their store was thanks enough. Now THAT is customer service!!!
