I was in desparate need for a particular floor that our local installer couldn't find. They carried the exact wood we needed and they quickly shipped the wood to us, 600 miles away. When we got around to opening up the wood, we discovered they shipped the wrong product! My order was correct and the invoice was correct. They just pulled the wrong product. For this, they get 1 star. HOWEVER, when I brought this to their attention, they admitted fault and didn't lay any blame at my feet. Less than 36 hours later, they picked up the wood and started the process of a refund. Because they took ownership of the problem and apologized for the error, they get 3 stars back. If they were a local business, I would do business with them again. We are all human and mistakes happen. They at least took responsibility for the error. read more

This is a revised review. I am revising the review because Lee Hurst, manager/owner called me and we had a decent conversation about our complaints. Lee refunded the cost of the damaged goods and agreed that they will discuss with future buyers that products like the one I bought may not be suitable in dry climates. (We live in the high mountains of southern Colorado at 7,500 ft / no AC / no humidifier and it is not possible to regulate the moisture as we are not always around to manage it) The cupping and splitting from acclimating to our climate that we have experienced with the product we bought is unfortunate and is not something they will warranty. I cannot do anything about this issue short of sanding the entire floor and refinishing it. That is not what we expected from our new floor, but it is what is. All that said, we do appreciate that Lee called and reimbursed us for the damaged flooring. read more

We ordered 65 Sq feet of Australian Cypress, 3 1/4" in. less than a minimum amount order, and they worked very well with us in placing our order. We wish that the Australian Cypress would have come in 3" in. vs 3 1/4" in. So, we had to mill in the flooring in order to match our existing flooring. Which was not a problem. We will be ordering more at a later date when we remodel another portion of our house. read more

BEWARE of this company's business practices, even if you don't live in Hawaii! I live in Hawaii, so I'm always very careful about checking shipping costs when I order anything big like flooring. I was happy to see that this company has a great calculator to input our zip code and calculate the shipping fee. I did that, and it came out to a bit more than $150. I read all of the Terms and Conditions, and the Policies, especially the Shipping Policies, and nothing said anything about extra shipping fees to Hawaii, so I placed my order for $656.00. The next day, I got an email saying that "as noted on our website" orders to Hawaii require a phone call for an accurate shipping quote, and that the actual shipping was going to be $540! Again, I saw NOTHING on their website that required a phone call, and in fact, they had a calculator to estimate shipping fees. They could have easily put a note right next to the calculator. Of course, I wasn't going to pay $540 in shipping, so on that day, March 11, I asked for a refund. She emailed me a "credit memo" and I thought that was it. As of March 27 I had still not received my refund, so I emailed to ask. I got no response. Just an email with another "refund confirmation." Not even a message, a sorry, nothing. This came from Craig Hurst, who I have to assume is a boss in the company and I would think he would take more pride. I called my credit card company, and there were no refunds pending. As of today, March 29, Hurst has had the use of my hard earned $656 for almost THREE WEEKS. It's awful. I filed a complaint with my credit card company. It's a shame that they have caused such a waste of time, grief, and effort over what is probably not a lot of money to them, but it is a LOT of money to me. Run, do not walk away from this company. They use a very cheap delivery company to deliver products that give horrible service. They delivered the incorrect product and have a horrible resolution process. You can call to resolve but they use an outsourced reception company and you will not be able to get anyone on the phone. They will take your number but no one will call you. I had to track down the owners number to get a call back and he just passed you along to someone who has no idea how to resolve issues. There was no expedited redelivery offered. I really have no idea when I am going to get my 3000 refund. When they are going to pick up the product and if they expect a 125 pound female to move 1300 pounds of product out the front door. The customer service is awful and they don't give the service/delivery like they describe. I was trying to get product delivered on a specific date and followed exactly what they told me to do. Apparently, online sales are treated different than if a sales agent places the order. I did not get my product in time and had to totally reschedule installation. They should be ashamed of them selves for even bundling the garbage up and shipping it. Really belongs in their dumpster they were marked as the defective flooring it is. Go to Home Depot for free in store delivery, and they will take returns, I do not care what the small print says on your web sight. even that dose not cover how bad this wood is, I am thinking about contacting the BETTER BUISNESS BEUROW if I don't receive a full refund soon. Buyer beware. Our floor couldn't be delivered to our house. We had to find a warehouse with a forklift in order to get the flooring off the truck. I don't know how they expect regular homeowners to access the floor pallets when the company they hire to deliver doesn't have the equipment to unload the truck. The floor has markings all over. It looks like a child drew on it with a sharpie!! In order to return it they expect us to have it wrapped and shipped plus a restock fee. Go local!! read more

We have used their Canyon Crest pre-finished hickory flooring. The planks are excellent but delivery time is long especially for the matching quarter round and their customer service stinks. I attempted to buy solid hardwood flooring from Hurst Hardwoods that was advertised as 2ft -10ft in length. I paid more to get longer boards. I received a confirmation call in which they stated that only 40% - 60% would actually be what I paid for, the rest could be as short as 1 ft. That's not what I paid for! That is false advertising and failure to meet the sales contract obligations. She kept stating that it was the "industry standard ". I didn't contract with the industry. I contracted with Hurst Hardwoods and they failed to meet their obligations. Beware of this company. They are shady. read more

On October 12, 2018 I requested and received several samples of the Hurst European French Oak engineered wood. I came back to the Hurst website this past weekend to place an order and was pleased to see a 10% off coupon code for this product. My pleasure was temporary because I noticed the prices posted on the website a few days prior, were at least 6.9% lower than they were now with the coupon. So a potential customer thinking they were getting a 10% discount, would in fact only be receiving a 3.8% discount. A business certainly has the right to establish pricing however it sees fit. At the same time a customer has a right to expect honest and fair pricing. I just thought it was important to point out the pricing variation before and during "the coupon offer". A 3.8% discount is certainly not a 10% discount. The specific product I was looking at was the 7 1/2" x 5/8" European French Oak Utah Hardwood Flooring. The pre-sale price had been $5.79. The new price before the 10% discount has increased by .40 and is now $6.19. 10% off of $6.19 is .62 for a computed sale price of $5.57. So you are really getting a 22 cent discount which equals a 3.8% discount from the pre coupon event price. When you shop a sale or use a promotional coupon code, you hope you're getting the best possible price. But it's not always that simple. Since Hurst Flooring didn't first try selling the items at the higher price, for a reasonable amount of time prior to this "coupon promotion", an argument could be made that this is "deceptive" pricing. This sale expires on 11/5/18 so it will be interesting to see if pricing stays at $6.19 or drops back down to $5.79. Update 11/7/18. The price went down. The 10% coupon promotion has ended and the Hurst website now reflects the lower pre-promotion pricing. The specific product I was looking at was the 7 1/2" x 5/8" European French Oak Utah Hardwood Flooring. The pre-promotion price had been $5.79. It has now been reduced from the $6.19 coupon promotion price back to $5.79. Based on this pricing manipulation I have decided to purchase my flooring elsewhere. Update 11/19/18. One of the sales rep was promised to delivery our material between 2 to 7 business days , I was requesting tracking number and for some reason I was needed to call in to get the tracking number, they said they couldn't send us email because it was rejected . They did not even care to call us or providing us information. When we called in suddenly the sales rep says it's an estimate time arrive which means it is not any more 2 to 7 business days arrival time. They provided me with a tracking number that would not given to me if I would not call in and delivery company name "ABF". We called ABF company and gave them the tracking number , they estimate it to arrive between February 10-14 which means it's more close to 12 and 14 business days shipment, I was requesting to expedite the shipment and ABF responded that the hardwood company Will need to call and pay additional amount to expedite the delivery. I was putting Hurst hardwood on the line with us and requested to expedite the delivery. I was so pissed that they couldn't give me the right information upfront that I could actually expedite the delivery and finish with our remodel. They didn't even offer to or gave me the information that you could expedite the delivery. Why not??!!!?!??! Don't get me wrong they did give good prices for the product but awful service (I wondering how the quality of the material is), they put us and ABF company on hold for more than 20 minutes and then hang up. I couldn't even expedite the delivery myself unfortunately and Hurst Hardwood is the only one that could expedite our delivery, our client was also willing to pay extra for expediting the delivery . Now they're closed and we losing another day because nobody's answering in the office and they hang up on us. Poor customer service and misleading website. I was under the impression my flooring was in stock and would ship within a reasonable time and was not told any differently when they sold me the flooring. I emailed and then called after approximately a week to find out when I would receive my flooring and all I got were a lot of excuses about distribution centers and shipping hubs. I was also told that the floor wouldn't even be shipped out to me until almost 2 weeks after I purchased the floor. The salesman who sold me the floor, James K., was insulting in an email when I asked him what he could do about this delay- his answer was one word, "nothing." Buy your flooring somewhere else. In Southern California, every where we went, people wanted to skyrocket the price of unfinished wood, or stated that they had no availability. Others tried to force us to buy engineered. Hurst had the unfinished hardwood. Hurst had the wood at a substantial savings. Ordering from Hurst, we saved substantially - but maintained the premium quality. Overall I am very happy with my purchase of the engineered wide plank rustic grade hickory flooring. Rustic hickory has a wide range of color variation and knots. (Great look for our log cabin.) They sent me 3 samples of the same material to show the differences. Considering that this flooring had a plywood substrate, a 2 mm wear layer, and was 7-1/2 inches wide, it was a tremendous bargain at about $3.50 a foot. Another draw was that the majority of the boards were over 6 feet long. This was critical to the look we wanted. While the actual material was not the lengths claimed, if it was accurately described I would have still been satisfied and willing to purchase it. All 21 boxes I opened had the same mix, six 6-foot boards four 4-foot boards, and four 2 foot boards. It was not very hard to use the 2 footers on ends, under cabinets or in closets, leaving the 4 and 6-footers for the visible areas. Why no fifth star? The product comes without installation instructions. The company refers you to the flooring association guidelines, but those guidelines sometimes tell you to refer to the manufacturers instructions. Reason two, the warranty specifically does not cover use over radiant heating, and that is what I have. Radiant only gets as warm as 85 degrees. With no AC this week, the room hit 81 and did not appear to have a problem. This should not be an exclusion. All in all the installation went smoothly, the boards were machined well and fit together consistently and easily. Although I worked 2 or 3 boxes at a time, the color mix was pretty uniform from box to box. read more

I ordered 1563 sf of solid Brazilian Walnut for a client on the 21st of July and was assured by the salesman (Sayff) it would ship out the next day. 5 days later I received an email from the salesman ASKING IF IT WAS OK TO SHIP THE FLOORING! I called and spoke with the manager who had an "Oh well, the salesman made a mistake" attitude and told me that "he doesn't melt down every time someone makes a mistake". I didn't ask him to have a melt down I asked him to apologize and compensate me for the inconvenience and the fact that they made me look bad to my client. He then said that this was "a blessing in disguise because the wood has to acclimate for 2 weeks before installation"...regardless, he completely discounted the fact that I just lost 6 days! I told him that I am an interior designer and rely on my suppliers to do what they say they are going to do especially when I go into great detail with the salesman that I am on a tight schedule and the salesman ASSURES ME THAT IT WILL SHIP OUT THE NEXT DAY! Apparently, the salesman said the paperwork got covered with some other papers on his desk (It took him 5 days to find these papers???). We competitively shopped every flooring outlet in the Tampa Bay area, including the Big Box outlets, but couldn't find the wood we had in mind for our Coastal interior till we returned to Hurst. We found an Antique White French Oak in the right width and length at a great price, so Matt ordered the wood from North Carolina. Product and Customer Service not good......... Product - Problem 5" Brazilian Walnut ....Good looking solid wood, but had up to 1/8 inch difference in width making it an install pain in the a$$. Since it was only 180 sq. ft. and install was under a time constraint (did not return) the installers soldiered through sorting and using wood putty to fill gaps. Customer Service - Problem Ordered T Molding for transition between slate and Brazilian Walnut and needed to keep consistent with the above wood planks. Me - "so looking at Hurst on line 7 foot sticks are selling for 61.65....wow.....I need 22 foot which is 3 sticks plus a foot.......would you happen to have a scrap piece around for that foot?" Them - "It's going to be a total of $236.49 including shipping. Do you want me to proceed and get these out?" Me -"Did you have a scrap piece to make up the extra foot? " Them - "Yeah. I have my warehouse guy throw something extra in there. DO you want me to run the same CC now for that amount. The sooner I do that, the sooner they'll get it out. " I place order and what I received was two 6.5 foot and one 8 foot sticks (21 feet). Thinking they sell odd ball lengths, getting that extra foot should not be a problem.....but after several emails and phone calls......this was the final outcome. Them - "They can't cut one. They can only sell you one more at $61.65 (7 footer) and then you need to figure another $25.00 for shipping. I wish I could help but it's impossible to get you a 1-2 ft piece. This place was AWFUL beyond belief. I spent almost $20000 on flooring that is now sitting in a burn pile! Craig was terrible and told me too bad, I bought the flooring AS IS. I have countless emails from him stating that the waste would be 20% because there were some cracked boards. The original waste was 40% but that was only the start of the problem. I put this over 2 types of flooring-Geo thermal heat and regular plywood. BOTH cracked and buckled. This stuff had acclimated for more than a year! Craig had personally spoken with the warm board folks and this type of flooring is 100% the only type to be used. I had the flooring looked at by other professionals and it appears that there was a MAJOR manufacturing issue and the stuff was 100% defective. It has NOTHING to so with the stuff underneath because it cracked and buckled over BOTH types of rooms! So I got taken for over $15000! The other flooring I ordered was fine and is over geo thermal heat so Craig's nasty response that this was the problem was incorrect. They refused to address the issue and told me "too bad". To buy something "as is" does not mean you pay $15000 for someone's defective garbage. I am out ALL of the money and would NEVER recommend these folks to ANYONE! I have had to order new flooring, have ALL (about 5000 sq ft) of flooring removed and now have to have it all installed! What should have cost me $20000 now cost me $40000 but at least I don't have to work with these folks ever again! STAY AWAY!!! Also- I ordered this from Craig's outlet The Discount Flooring place and they say they are BBB approved. The BBB says no and they refused to answer my complaint. They are not accredited as far as you can tell from the BBB's records. Obviously you see why..... read more
