During a recent visit to see my sister she suggested that we go out for lunch, not a bad idea I thought at the time. My sister seems to have good taste, but I'm sorry sis this place was awful.
As it was lunch we declined the starters and went straight for the mains.
I ordered one of the specials, a lasagne.
My other half ordered, at first a blt.
Sis ordered a ham sandwich and chips.
First hiccup, my intended tried ordering a blt and asked what bread it was served on, we expected to be told, farmhouse white, granary etc, we got white or brown, so he opted for the pate.
The food came, the lasagne was so dry that I left it and the chips were frozen. (my pet hate)
The pate came out as a meat platter and had to be sent back.
Sis said hers was ok but she has no taste buds.
Dessert was a chocolate pudding for sis (not bad) and a berry cheesecake for me (dreadful) the biscuit base was like soggy weetabix and was sent back promptly.
Even paying was an ordeal, as you had no bill with which to sort out with the staff exactly what you had had.
This is a farm shop that charges restaurant prices, surely it is not mush to ask to get restaurant quality food.
It gets 2 stars because the wine cellar in the food market was excellent. read more
