Visited here with my partner never again! It sounds fantastic on their website and I was expecting a lot, it didn't even meet me half way. The farmshop itself is small, but has some good items the cafe is where my problem lies. Bad food, bad service and bad prices! We sat down and I ordered garlic mushrooms on toast while my partner got rarebit. When it came it was the most thinly sliced bread I have ever seen, the mushrooms were uncooked, the garlic butter not melted, the toast soggy from the vinegar dressing on the tiny side-salad. My partner's meal, hardly any cheese, nothing special, tasted like plain old cheese on toast on very thin, soggy vinegar bread. We complained about the food politely saying why we were not happy to the waiter, he took our unfinished meals back into the kitchen and returned a few minutes later looking sheepish. Apprantly the chef had told him it was fine, nothing wrong with it. He asked us if we wanted our meals back to which we said no, we would not eat it, it tasted awful. The waiter gave us our bill and went off without a sorry or even a mention of a discount. We complained again at the till to which we got a 'So sorry about that' but again no attempt to resolve the problem, we hadn't eaten half our meals but were still charged full price! We argued for a moment with the woman at the till, but with other customers waiting behind us and the woman showing no signs of wanting to help we had no choice but to back down. We paid and vowed to never return. Awful place, for £8.00 (rarebit) I'd expect good cooking, good quality and good customer service. This place is lacking in all three.
The one star is only because we bought a brownie from the farm shop before eating at the cafe and that actually tasted nice, so one star for that. read more
