TL;DR - Local pies, baked on site. What's not to love?
This is a pretty much no frills place - a counter at the back serving pies, and an option to sit in if you want. There are a variety of hot pies on offer - steak, meat and potato, chicken and mushroom... plus some cold whist and pork pies. There's also a small selection of cakes and sweet things too.
The pies are baked here on site (Bowen's bakery is in the rear) so you won't get fresher than this. The other big win here is that you can find that particularly local delicacy, the butter pie, which most folks won't have heard of if they didn't grow up within spitting distance of Preston. I love a butter pie, and whilst I've never found one which matches the ones I had in the 1980s, these are a pretty close match.
Parking right outside, cheap prices and lovely photos of Chorley in days gone by on the walls. Not suitable for vegetarians or dieters, but plenty of Lancashire fayre to put a smile on your face. read more
