Views from the lift back down the mountain

I stayed at the Huntley for a conference I attended and loved the views! It was my first time at Big Sky so it was nice that my hotel was centrally located to all the activities offered. The ski lift was steps away, restaurants and bars literally a short walk across the court yard. The front desk staff were helpful in providing maps and recommendations for outdoor activities. My room was great although it took some time for the front desk to get my room ready after I checked in. However, the room itself was amazing, again, nice views. I used the hot tub only once throughout my 5 day stay because it always seemed to be dirty. Granted I would always go at the end of the day which could be why it wasn't the cleanest at that time. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and will definitely be back to try some of the other activities.

Accommodations and staff were wonderful! We would like to especially compliment and thank Zuki, our server at breakfast in the dining room! She is so nice, friendly, and attentive to all her customers...please pass on our compliments and gratitude for a bright start to our days in Big Sky Resort and Huntley Lodge!

This is a great summer getaway place. The rooms are very nice. Beware that housekeeping cleans the room ever other day. You will notice some of my photos are a messy room... oops forgot to take a photo when I first arrived, but you will get the idea. Several pools and hot tubs available. A number of activities are available at the Basecamp. Bring your wallet!!! We did the excursion to the top of the mountain. Nothing short of awesome. Highly recommend! Check in and out was a breeze. Plenty of places inside and out to relax in easy chairs. Fireplace available. Free shuttle to most places in Big Sky. Tips encouraged.

Ate at the bar and was impossible to place my order. I waited and the bartender kept passing me by. Even after I said I wanted to order

It was nice to step away from phone screens for a bit. This is also where they serve their complimentary, well balanced breakfast from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM. They even have a pancake maker where you can watch the pancakes being made through a viewing window. The fitness center was well equipped and had everything needed to work all muscle groups. I liked that the treadmill is next to the window, allowing you to look out at the mountains while exercising from time to time. They also offer guest laundry for $5 each for the washer and dryer, with detergent available for $2. My clothes came out clean and dry. I did not get a chance to use the pool during my stay, but it looked like guests were enjoying it. There is also an outdoor hot tub, which creates a nice contrast between the cold air and the warm water with steam rising above it. The staff were friendly and patient. They answered our questions thoroughly and helped us feel confident navigating the area. At first, I didn't like that The Lodge was farther from the main village, but it ended up being only a five minute walk to where we needed to go. I would definitely book my stay here again if I have the chance to return to Big Sky.

I wanted to get a glass of milk and nothing came out of the machine. I had to get the waitstaff to refill the machine, and then when I went back after they had filled it, the milk was sour. Except for the breakfast experience, our stay was fine. Not sure what it would've been like during the height of the season.

All the lights need to be turned on manually, and even when they are all on it still seems dark. There are no black out shades....so, boom, you get to wake up to full light...no sleeping in here. Every tithe neighbors close the door it makes a slamming noise that goes straight to your bones. Small television inside a wooden cabinet. The shower has some kind of cheese cloth curtain that absorbs then drops all the water on the ground, leaving puddles behind. The bathroom even has a sign telling you to put a towel on the ground. Long story short, updates are needed. I won't go through all the shortcomings of this place, I'll just say it seems a bit expensive for what you get. On the bright side the reception people are very nice and the morning continental breakfast us good enough. It's within walking distance of local restaurants. WE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE PLEASED. Here's what we loved. (1.) We felt like we were really out in the wilderness, instead of a corporate thing disguised as glamping. (2.) The setting was jaw-droppingly beautiful. (3.) Our tent was comfortably and exquisitely outfitted. (4.) We had wonderful privacy and yet the staff was very available, pleasant and accommodating, and (5) The food was really delicious - not too fussy, just really good. The only thing I would suggest is that you request a graphic map with visual markers, mileage, etc., as we felt a little lost the entire time we were trying to get to the site. The staff was very nice in helping us via phone, but we would have arrived more relaxed if we'd been more confident in the route. We will definitely use The Yellowstone Collective Retreat again. Also as first-time visitors to Big Sky, MT, the staff was extremely helpful in getting us to the best restaurants and nature activities. Everyone working there was extremely nice. However, they seemed understaffed, which obviously isn't the workers fault - they were trying very hard to keep up with interacting with us and the other guests. For such a high-end place otherwise, with a high-end price, I think Collective Retreats should hire more workers.
