Both my 6 and 9 year old have been going to Huntington for more than a year now and love it. The one-on-one help they get is unbeatable and they look forward to going. They are both doing better at school and their academic and personal confidence are growing because of the help and support Huntington provides. All the teachers are dedicated and have developed great teacher-student relationships with them. Debra and her team are amazing and I plan to keep my boys going there as long as possible. read more

DO NOT GO TO HUNTINGTON LEARNING CENTER unless your family exemplifies 1950s America! I recently took my child there for an assessment hoping to retain services from them for assistance with reading and comprehension. I was told the assessment would be 4 hours which seemed a bit lengthy but when I arrived to pick up my child the tests were still not finished and I was told that my child was actually finishing early! I later met with Bill Newman to review the assessments. The tests did not tell me anything I didn't already know my child had struggles with and we spent an hour and a half rehashing the same concerns. My child divides their time between my home and their father's home and Bill kept saying that he needed to meet with the rest of the family. I explained that he could contact them and set up time or talk with them on the phone. I also explained that if his concern was not being on the same page, we were all wiling to follow whatever plan was put in place. Prior to this assessment we had all agreed to doing whatever would be best for our kid. I explained to Bill that it might be difficult for them to meet with him in person as they have a business and small children with another on the way. He said he would call Stepmom to discuss. Bill then said he did not want to set my child up for failure and I asked him how that would be the case. He said that if different things were happening in each home my child would fail. WHAT?!! I reiterated that we would follow the plan and then said, so you're telling me that some tutoring wouldn't help? He said no, of course not. Well, please explain, I said. Bill then stated that Huntington has a 95% success rate and his numbers could be impacted. I was flabbergasted!! Bill then said he would not go forward with creating a plan for my child until he could speak with the rest of the family. At this point, Stepmom has called Bill numerous times and he has refused to speak with her on the phone. How incredibly unprofessional and antiquated!! Needless to say we will be attempting to find other resources for my child. We feel discriminated against based upon our family situation. Apparently if you aren't married, in the same household with 2.5 children, Huntington will not work with you!! I have come to believe that their numbers for their success rate are falsely inflated due to being unwilling to help anyone who needs the help. A true statistic would be based upon results from helping anyone who could afford the service and needs the help!! I made the incorrect assumption that Huntington Learning Center is there to help children, not that the children are there to help Huntington! read more

I had to write an honest review about this organization. I am hoping Yelp keeps it. Our friends at work saw us struggling with our son not being able to read. He was already in first grade. Our frustration level was very high. He had hearing issues till he was five and that was causing delay in his ability to read. They suggested to talk to Bill at Huntington in Folsom. Bill met with us and tested our son for reading. He was at pre-school level at that time. Bill suggested a program in coordination with his school teacher. He even went and met his school teacher. This was an important decision for us. The program costs a bit as it will be one on one sessions with our child. We were presented with a plan and it was up to us to accept it. My wife and I talked about it and we decided on sending him to Huntington as it was an investment in our child. This was in October. His program now ends this month. It was a six month plan. This is my son today. A very positive confident kid who loves to read. We cannot be happier. He is at second grade level already. We cannot believe the transformation that happened to him. His attitude in everything else he does has changed as a result. He is a confident young man! All the credit goes to Bill and his Staff!! We thank you from the bottom of our heart! read more

I'm writing to highly recommend Huntington Learning Center & specifically Bill Newman. We took both our children to Huntington's after a school year where we thought we were doing ok only to learn our kids were falling behind. My son has an IEP & we put in untold hours hoping to stay average. Despite our efforts we were not able to keep up. Looking back I think the hours we dedicated to him was the cause for our daughter slipping. We met with Bill & he openly shared his personal experiences & discovered his style of learning & his struggles learning were similar to our son. It was refreshing to finally have someone understand the effort we we're putting & understand exactly how our son was feeling. Huntington's conducted their assessment & I was surprised & impressed at how thorough it was. The results were very detailed, comprehensive & when explained to us provided us a very good picture of what was going on. It reaffirmed a lot things we new & opened our eyes to things we didn't know. A program was developed & goals were set to bring our kids back to grade level. Bill was PHENOMENAL. He put us at ease with his confidence their program would help the kids. Bill went well above & beyond expectations. He reviewed our sons IEP & he went with us to the school to help develop my son's IEP plan. We've been very happy with Huntington's. Their staff have been very friendly, always smiling & have fun interacting with the kids. The results...my son actually made the honor roll & did so with only a fraction of effort compared to before Huntington's. We've gone from spending countless hours, frustrations, & routine aggravation, to the kids do most of their homework by themselves. If you're still reading I write this understanding your frustration, concern & questioning whether or not this is the correct decision. As nervous & concerned as I was when we had to make the decision about whether or not to go with Huntington's; I'm even more frightened at where would we be if we had not made that decision. I took my 8-year-old daughter to Huntington Learning Center in Folsom and they made learning fun for her. We found out she had a learning disability and they found ways to help her learn to read. I am so impressed with her progress and I feel that she has to foundation now for life to be able to help with her reading disability. They even came to the parent teacher conferences with the school to get her on the correct reading program. That was a year ago she we had tutoring. We had to go to a new school and Bill from Huntington came with us to make sure her new school had the correct reading program. I am very impress with their customer service and all of Bill's help. We had a great experience here. Our child accelerated almost a grade ahead after the program. The fellow there that runs it...I think his name is Bill? (tall with blonde hair that has a brother that runs the Roseville Huntington Center) is super nice and genuinely sincere with loads of imagination and encouragement. I can't speak for anyone else but our child benefitted from the focus she achieved here and now it's paying off in high school. Our child was NOT happy to be there at first. It was summer after all and the last place any kid wants to be, right? But then, after she got into the groove things started clicking. Every child's experience will be different because every child is going for a unique purpose. So, I just want to say after you roll the dice with any program, this one is a pretty safe bet for positive results. read more

The Folsom center seems to have difficulty with communication especially if you are scheduled during a time when only teachers are onsite. Purchased a groupon to try them out and had one issue after another, after testing and 2 of the 3 sessions I bought I ultimately requested to move my children to the Citrus Heights location as I saw it as a better fit and a smoother running operation. To my surprise I received a bill for $100 and was told the groupon was for 3 hours not 3 sessions and that my students had attended two 2 sessions for a total of 4 hours, even though I provided backup that this was incorrect I was ultimately told if I wanted the files transferred I would need to pay them $100. I would highly recommend Citrus Heights but fair warning about the business practices at folsom. read more

Our 13 year old son has been going to Huntington for three months. We have seen a huge boost in his confidence and a yearning to take on more responsibility at school. The staff at Huntington Citrus Heights have been wonderful to work with. They have provided excellent direction and guidance for our son. They show care and concern, not only for our son's academic improvement, but for his boost in self esteem and confidence, as well. My son and daughter both attended Huntington Learning Center in Folsom in 2015. When they began, things were pretty tough for both of them in school. They each struggled in math and generally didn't like school too much. After about 4-6 months at Huntington, they are doing phenomenally well. My son just got the results back from his placement tests for 8th grade and he'll be skipping ahead to 9th-grade math! The best part is that they both actually enjoy school. Our 2nd grader son was falling behind in his reading so we took him to Huntington learning center and had him tested. He was behind with his reading comprehension. He was getting in trouble in class often, after just 1 week of him going he's been having good days at home and at school. This has really helped his self-esteem and getting him back on track with school. His confidence is up and he will be ahead of the track in no time. We would definitely recommend this program as we have seen results after just 1 week. I am not accustomed to writing reviews, but this one must be done. When our daughter's family moved to Folsom in the summer, three years ago, we discovered that our granddaughter was struggling in school. A friend recommended that we contact Bill Newman at Huntington Learning Center. Best recommendation we ever received. Huntington ran a battery of tests and identified her abilities and deficiencies. K was to begin fourth grade. She was reading at a mid-first-grade level, her comprehension was very low, and her math skills were also low for her age. Also, her confidence was almost non-existent and she resisted any of our attempts to help. Bill developed a program tailored to her individual needs. She loved the program and looked forward to her twice-weekly tutoring sessions. When school began in Folsom, we had an IEP, in which Bill participated. The district wanted to move her from fourth grade to third grade, a move that would have devastated her confidence even further. Bill was familiar to the district and his professional credentials were well known. He was able to assist us in convincing the principal, and others, that her skills would be improving, and rapidly, and she would be at or near grade level by the end of the year. He described the program she was following and the district shelved the move to third grade. Our granddaughter has been in the Huntington program for three years and her progress is amazing. She is in seventh grade, working at grade level or above, still looks forward to coming to Huntington. She now excels in math and she is reading complex text. During this process, we discovered that she has a reading disability. Bill understands her struggles because he also has experienced the same type of reading disability. While the program is not free, the cost-benefit over the long run is excellent. We are making an investment in her future. We have a happy, confident, intelligent young lady whose confidence radiates and this confidence has transferred to all of her other activities--she is a gifted dancer and gymnast. There really isn't much more I can add to all the other positive reviews, except to say that our experience with Huntington, and Bill in particular was awesome! His passion and focus were instrumental in helping our child gain the tools necessary to overcome some difficulties with learning disabilities and medical issues that have impacted his studies. By targeting key areas of deficiencies, while also strengthening core learning abilities, our son's capabilities have definitely improved, and although he will always have to cope with the medical and processing issues, Huntington provided him with the skills, abilities and confidence to be able to succeed! Huntington was so supportive of my daughter and our family. We were going through some personal stuff and they accommodated us with her tutoring schedule over and over. My daughter is a senior and we needed to work on her ACT score for the final test opportunity in Dec. 2018. A strong ACT score was the only thing we needed to complete her college applications. To our delight, her test score increased and she was accepted to all of the schools she applied to. We couldn't have done it without Huntington! read more

My experience of Huntington Learning Center was excellent. The teachers are engaged and Deb is super enthusiastic about what she does. My son found it helpful because he was able to focus with one on one instruction. His confidence zoomed. He found a new appreciation for learning and his newly discovered proficiency. Think carefully before going to this center or any others. My son needed to go we paid 10,000 for the summer for him to go. He didn't study basics like phonics. They had him writing cursive. As an adult now he is struggling with basics but writes in cursive. My point is block letters are needed to fill out forms no use for $10,000 of cursive! read more

Thanks to Huntington our son has a good foundation in not only grade level, but above his grade level skills. The current school year is going much more smoothly and our hope is that these learning skills carry him on through the future. This is definitely money well spent and exactly what we were looking for: an individualized program that targets not only deficits, but capitalizes on strengths, credentialed teachers that maintain interest but also focus and a program that teaches the love of learning how to learn. This is not homework review or academic babysitting - this is not something that we can do at home where there are too many distractions & excuses. Bill's direction and system of motivation keeps our son engaged. He has never once complained about the sessions- that's a feat in itself! I highly recommend an assessment from Bill and the Folsom center to anyone who suspects holes in their child's learning and go from there! read more

I am pleased with their great service. I sent my daughter there for a month during the Summer and she gained confidence and performs much better. She has improved from F to B in Math and in English From B to A. Still after 2 years she has kept her education and confidence well on line and I am very happy. Staff are great, especially Bob. My son struggled through much of 5th grade last year. We had him evaluated at Huntington last spring and opted to do 165hrs based on recommendations from other friends who have used them. We have noticed a big change in our son for the better the start of this school year. He comments how school feels so much easier this year and he is taking the initiative to get all his work completed as well as going online and checking his grades.
