Most tutors and programs were all about speeding through problems, prepping for SATs, or just getting homework done--very commercial, not what we needed. Then we discovered David at Great Power, and it was like finding gold. His approach is incredible--he believes every kid is unique and tailors everything to their curiosity and potential. If you go through his webpage, that's exactly who he is: passionate, thoughtful, and dedicated to inspiring kids. Talking to him, we were blown away by his patience, his deep knowledge, and how he explains things so simply yet profoundly, whether to a five-year-old or a researcher. His storytelling style hooked my son instantly. Three months in, David's roadmap and the way he answers every question with care have made learning a joy for our son. We're super excited for the next math journey with him--he's truly the best! If you want a tutor who gets kids and inspires them to grow, David and Great Power are hands-down amazing!

My son enjoys working with his teachers in Grade Power (David, Lindsay, and Hope); he said they make it fun and interesting for him. My son's teachers in school saw his progress in his class and his grades, and we are very grateful to Grade Power for their hard work, patience, and encouragement for my son. More power to you guys, and we hope you keep helping these kids reach their goals and potential.

They are both doing better at school and their academic and personal confidence are growing because of the help and support Huntington provides. All the teachers are dedicated and have developed great teacher-student relationships with them. Debra and her team are amazing and I plan to keep my boys going there as long as possible.

I was told the assessment would be 4 hours which seemed a bit lengthy but when I arrived to pick up my child the tests were still not finished and I was told that my child was actually finishing early! I later met with Bill Newman to review the assessments. The tests did not tell me anything I didn't already know my child had struggles with and we spent an hour and a half rehashing the same concerns. My child divides their time between my home and their father's home and Bill kept saying that he needed to meet with the rest of the family. I explained that he could contact them and set up time or talk with them on the phone. I also explained that if his concern was not being on the same page, we were all wiling to follow whatever plan was put in place. Prior to this assessment we had all agreed to doing whatever would be best for our kid. I explained to Bill that it might be difficult for them to meet with him in person as they have a business and small children with another on the way. He said he would call Stepmom to discuss. Bill then said he did not want to set my child up for failure and I asked him how that would be the case. He said that if different things were happening in each home my child would fail. WHAT?!! I reiterated that we would follow the plan and then said, so you're telling me that some tutoring wouldn't help? He said no, of course not. Well, please explain, I said. Bill then stated that Huntington has a 95% success rate and his numbers could be impacted. I was flabbergasted!! Bill then said he would not go forward with creating a plan for my child until he could speak with the rest of the family. At this point, Stepmom has called Bill numerous times and he has refused to speak with her on the phone. How incredibly unprofessional and antiquated!! Needless to say we will be attempting to find other resources for my child. We feel discriminated against based upon our family situation. Apparently if you aren't married, in the same household with 2.5 children, Huntington will not work with you!! I have come to believe that their numbers for their success rate are falsely inflated due to being unwilling to help anyone who needs the help. A true statistic would be based upon results from helping anyone who could afford the service and needs the help!! I made the incorrect assumption that Huntington Learning Center is there to help children, not that the children are there to help Huntington!

We brought our 7 year old son to Mrs. Ginney for assessment to help us understand why he was struggling to read and succeed in his schooling. We knew he was smart, but our local school brushed off our concerns. The assessments revealed significant learning disabilities as well as his learning strengths. Based on Mrs. Ginney's findings and recommendations, we found school curriculum and educational games to help him. We also hired Mrs Ginney to tutor our son. We highly recommended Kolsoum Ginney and El Dorado Learning Center to help your struggling student. Mrs. Ginney is an expert at what she does!

My child has significant delays in many areas and we've worked with a variety of different professionals from the San Francisco Area to the Placerville area. Hence, I've had experience with many folks who think her/his method will create a breakthrough with my child -- none of which have had a significant break through with my child. What is different about Ms. Ginney is she pulls from many years of experience, and many different methods to build an approach that suites her student. Moreover, she does it with the love and care of a family member. She does this by teaching through my child's interests which maintains engagement, even during long 2hr sessions. We've liked her so much we drive two hours round trip to see her. Each week my child leaves feeling successful and energetic. I should add that her service is a value for her experience and training.
