Ok, first of all my family and I have always had a really good experience in the Hunters Lodge with food, drink, funerals and weddings, even the Rugby team I am part of uses this Pub as a 'Clubhouse'. I have had two very bad experiences recently, firstly I had a badly cooked steak which i can deal with which wasn't the problem as that was resolved quite quickly, the issue was with the barmaid/waitress called Megan who when I asked for pepper for my food brought it, and when asked for a set of cuttlery didn't bring it so I asked again a minute or so later and said to me and i quote sooo sorry darling my heads fucked which I found quite rude but brushed it off as I didn't want to make scene. Second occasion, my partner and I decided to attend the Hunters Lodge a couple of days after a greiveance in the family and was really looking forward to a nice meal and a couple of drinks. So we ordered my food after asking the manager/ bar supervisor how long the wait would be as it was quite busy he advised around half an hour so we sat and had a few drinks and had a chat and a cry. the food came around an hour and half later which we did expect. First of all we had no apology for the time we waited for food, the food however absolutley delicious as per usual. I then half way through my baguette found a blonde hair like material on one of my curly fries, so I stopped eating and called the waitress over, she picked up the hair after I pointed it out and examined it, she shook her head and said no sorry thats not from us we have no blonde haired people working in this establishment, she flicked it onto the floor apoligised under her breath and walked away. A couple of minutes later I asked to speak to someone in charge and she laughed and said ok, so she walked off and ten minutes later the acting manager came over and asked what was wrong with a smile on his face and a sarcastic tone in his voice. So I told him exactly what I had found on my plate and told him the barmaid had flicked it on the floor after telling me no-one that worked here was blonde especially in the kitchen, he then said well if I cant look at it I cant tell you where it come from and I replied back by telling him that the barmaid/waitress had flicked it on the floor. She was stood behind him and quite bluntly told me that she hadn't flicked it on the floor and called me a lyer, so again now getting a little bit upset replied back telling her that she had flicked it on the floor the male manager/bar supervisor pointed in my face in front of a pub full of people and told me he doesn't appreciate me calling his barmaid a lyer, so after a small argument with this gentleman he offered me a round of free drinks for my partner and I to apoligise for what had happend, my partner and I were going to stay for desert and another couple of drinks but by this point after being embarrased and belittled by someone who should be able to deal appropriatly with customer complaints and indeed with resolving such complaints we both just wanted to leave. So I told him I wanted my money back just for my meal which was a measly £4.09 he refused and told me that he would give me a free round of drinks, again I refused and asked for my money back which myself and my partner felt was appropriate, after a minute or two thinking he then said he would give me my money back. So I went to the bar and waited for my money to be given back, after about ten minutes of waiting he gave me my money back and then said and i quote " just to inform you you and your partner are no longer welcome in this establishment" which made a number of people totally unrelated to my partner and I at the bar shake their heads with disgust at the acting manager. If I was in the wrong why did the acting manager agree to compensate me with a free round of drinks, and why just because I had a problem with the food that was served to me which I paid for should I suffer as my family and I are regulars at the pub for food and drinks and now we feel that none of us can go there again!!! read more
