Country pub way out in the back country. The Yelp map doesn't know where it is, but I'll tell you: it's right opposite the church which -is- shown on the map (and which is closed). The outside sign is in Welsh, Tafern Llew Goch. I would never have found this without the locals who took me there, and I have to say it was friendly, warm, and comfy. But I go to pubs for meals, and the menu wasn't entirely to my taste, a little precious and fussy: perhaps the chef is a little too upscale for the venue. Probably the best pub in Wales. This place oozes history. Keith, the owner, is a great guy. Ask to see the tribute room to the welsh borders regt where he has a real vc on display. If you're lucky. A roaring fire will be going and you'll meet gizmo the cat! read more

Very nice old pub in this area , recently started to do food in newly refurbished part of the pub. Food is good but if you have something to complain about you will be responded to with very poor attitude from management. read more

After a long walk there's no place better than The Red Lion with it's roaring log fires and lovely atmosphere. I always seem to end up playing 'musical chairs' as each person tries to warm up both sides evenly, moving when we start to get slightly roasted on one side! Beryl is a fantastic host at the Red Lion. The extensive range of ales and real ciders are well kept and served straight from the barrel. Undoubtedly, one of the truly great pubs in UK. A real gem. We go back time and time again, and never get bored. read more
