Picked this place to come for my birthday back in September. Great food, nice place, get service, nice ambiance. Made my birthday a perfect night out. Gave a free dessert for my birthday :P I'd highly recommend this place.

Ever since Maidstone closed, this is hands down my favorite restaurant around this part of Long Island. Absolute mastery of beef. The steak is exquisite. Veal parmigiana was very crisp, flavorful, and tender I haven't fallen in love with any of their seafoods The kale salad is solid. Dessert menu is outstanding Excellent drink menu

    Halibut

The minute you walk in you are met with Outstanding Decor and amazing aroma. Shrimp Cocktail was large shrimp and the cocktail sauce was made to perfection with the right amount of Horseradish which tasted homemade. The Chicory Salad was so flavorful with light dressing. Loved it! The seafood salad was delicious. The Halibut was done so well with julienne vegetables. Yum! My Husband had the chicken parmigiana which not only looked amazing he said it tasted amazing. Dessert was great! Probably the best Pistachio Parfait I ever had. The Service was great. I chose this Restaurant for my husband's birthday on a recommendation from a friend. I highly recommended it.

Several members of my dining group have enjoyed Hunter so I felt it was time for me to go. A sucker for a prix fixe menu, I decided to make a reservation for an early Sunday dinner where they feature three courses for a very reasonable price. (Follow my foodie adventures on Instagram, The Dining Deal Foodie). Hunter is located conveniently in its own spot on Oyster Bay Road, just north of Northern Boulevard. They have their own parking lot, while still having space for outdoor dining. We ate indoors and were a comfortable table of 6 in an otherwise undercrowded dining room. Our server came over immediately with water and complimentary bread, olives, and fresh jamon from Spain (WOW!). We were given both the prix fixe menu and their regular dinner menu. I had my eye on a particular salad and was underwhelmed with the entrée choices on the prix fixe, so I decided to order off-menu for the evening. Our server recited the specials for us and I opted for one of the fresh fish specials--striped sea bass with chick peas, chorizo (I think!), bok choy, and a delicate broth. THE GROWS: I cannot think of one. Seriously. THE GLOWS: Chef Hunter came out to greet our table and wished us an enjoyable meal shortly after we were seated. I wish he had stopped by AFTER we ate because he deserved to hear how thrilled all six of us were with his food and presentation. The kale salad was so much more than that: green apple, quinoa, sunflower seeds, and a delectable scallion vinaigrette. The complimentary jamon and olives prompted me to order a glass of wine, because who eats that without wine? The atmosphere is upscale yet the staff are relatable and accommodating. For dessert I ordered their pistachio parfait: their ice cream is made on-site and it was obvious how fresh and exacting this recipe was. I ate the whole thing and even scraped the bottom of the dish, wishing there was just a little bit more. Hunter is a venue that is now in my rotation of restaurants. Looking forward to going back and trying what other new and exciting meals he has prepared!

Scallops with quinoa and diced apples!! A must try!!!

It's always a treat to come to Hunter Restaurant. The entire staff is always so attentive and friendly. The menu has changed which was exciting and we tried a few new things and specials. For appetizers we had the tuna tartare and the clams casino. The clams were so delicious we ordered a second order for the table with our entrees. My sister ordered the Strip Streak MR and it was perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the coq au vin special and absolutely loved it. I ordered the halibut over julienne vegetables. My dish was perfectly cooked. The vegetables were julienned but still had a bite to them, the fish was light, delicate and the beurre Blanc sauce was so delicious, I'm still dreaming about it. This restaurant is perfect for a date or impressing your friends. And they now open on Mondays :)

I came here for date night, live in the area and was my first time hearing about this restaurant. The food was amazing, the staff was so friendly, the manager was as well. I didn't feel out of place at all. The ambience was beautiful, just really well put together. The food was wonderful, I don't think I've ever had a better veal ragu pappardelle. Wonderful wonderful place, I will be coming back again

Update. We have been back numerous times, this time with cousins and their wives or a "plus one,"…read moreeight of us at a tight, rectangular table in the back. There are several hanging paintings on the walls, not worth a look, so you don't feel like you might be in Spain or Italy. Otherwise, it's a friendly, busy restaurant on weekend evenings, so reservations are recommended. Entrées, their starter salad ginger dressing and service are always good-very good. It's always either Spanish or Italian, so for example, you can order chicken parmigiana or variations of paella. This time I ordered Chicken Villaroy, which "is a classic French-origin dish featuring cooked chicken breasts (or croquettes) coated in a thick, cheese-infused béchamel sauce (Sauce Villeroy)." However, this one was served looking like two squared, lumpy, sautéed potato knishes, but tasted better than it looked. The inside was a very thick, well cooked chicken breast covered by a thin, light béchamel sauce and what seemed like plain, sautéed flour covering. The sauce made it slightly juicy, but not nearly juicy enough, and there was no thick, cheese infusion. My suggestion (for what it's worth ... and no offense intended to the Villaroys), is much more wet, cheesy infusion, along with perhaps a thick, panko crust covering thinner slices of chicken breast. They offered Sangria and Pinot Noir (tonight's table favorites), but not Chianti (my first choice) and you can skip most of their desserts. I was only able to finish one of the Chicken Villaroy croquettes and took the other one home for another day. The entrées came with rice or a wide variety of cooked vegetable sides, so mine was (excellent) spinach with oil and garlic, which I shared with my wife.

We had a great experience here! The service was attentive and friendly, even though the restaurant…read morewas pretty busy. We started with the potato chips and chorizo, which were very good. For entrées, we tried the shrimp in hot garlic sauce, seafood in green sauce, lasagna, and the chicken in pepper sauce. Everyone enjoyed their dish, and we loved that all entrées come with a salad plus a choice of rice, pasta, fries, or green beans. The sangria is also worth mentioning--really good and definitely strong! Overall, solid food, good service, and a lively atmosphere. Would definitely come back.

Their food, service and hospitality has been always been five star. So when something is so good why change, just expand. We visit the Huntington location quite often. We start with Pina Coladas and Cuba Libre (rum and coke), for appetizers the chorizo and tamales. While there is an assortment of meats, fish and chicken, our favorite is the ropa veija, tender shredded beef in a wonderful sauce with the best steamed white rice and of course madoros. Another hit of ours is the breaded steak and my new favorite, the broiled flounder. Our next dish will be the paella. Just need to call ahead. The Flan, Tres Leches cake and Cuban coffee is always a good ending. The service is always top notch. Red and white table cloths. A bar area with a separate dining area. You may even be lucky to catch a unique celebration song and dance by one of the staff. Make sure you have your camera ready. And a special thank you to Raul. The last time we were there, I tried a new dish that was good, but not something that enjoyed. Don't you know it, Raul surprised me and sent me home with a serving of Ropa Vieja. Thank you Raul.

Food we got the pan con jamon, garlic shrimp, patatas bravas, shisito peppers and the plancha burger. The sangria was very good. Juicy, not overloaded with BS fruit and just very flavorful. The bread is like a toasted baguette cut into 4 triangles topped with piquillo salsa, arugula and jamon. Pretty good, I was surpised there wasn't pan con tomato but it was still enjoyable. This is a bit more on the acidic side so if you don't like things too tangy - might not be for you. Patatas bravas, classic with aioli and bravas sauce. Shisito peppers blistered, a bit of finishing salt and lemon. Garlic shrimp was cooked well, personally I'd like a bit more garlic in mine and some bread to mop would be nice but still tasty. Plancha burger was definitely our favorite. It's a blend of wagyu sirloin and chorizo, so it's very juicy with a nice smokiness. Very pleasantly surprised and definitely will be back to try some other things.
