Sadly I have had a nightmare experience with a new Hunter ceiling fan model 51077 I ordered a few weeks ago that, despite my great degree of care and diligence installing, makes an annoying crackling rubbing sound. I contacted Hunter customer service and they sent me a replacement, which is also sadly defective and makes an even more annoying sound even when I spin the fan by hand with it turned off. I am still in need of a new reliable ceiling fan for my guest room and now have two defective Hunter ceiling fans and a solid 12-15 hours in headaches and wasted trouble shooting hours invested. I recently purchased a Hunter ceiling fan that had issues from the start. After installation, it wobbled excessively, the low speed setting didn't work, and it was very noisy. Hunter agreed to replace it but didn't have the original model. I was then forced to choose a different fan. There was nothing comparable in the same price range, so I chose a more expensive model and offered to pay the difference, which was denied. When I requested a refund, that was also refused. We would give a zero if possible. A voltage limiter blew in one of our Hunter ceiling fan light kits, attached to our Hunter ceiling fans. Hunter sells no replacement voltage limiters. Hunter sells no replacement light kits compatible with our model or most models. The tech's advice, "Find some incandescent bulbs to run in your lights." The voltage limiters were BS, installed to keep you from overloading the lights voltage system to keep you from burning up the lights or to assign your unit an energy star rating. With LED's, the voltage is minimal, so no voltage limiter is needed. You simply cut out the faulty voltage limiter, reconnect the wires and you now have a working unit. The tech's advice was bogus because the voltage limiter was blown! His other advice, "Replace everything." A bot couldn't have given worse advice. read more

If you are thinking about purchasing an outdoor fan, DON'T. We did and after the first rain the LED light filled with water, and blew out. In other words it is an outdoor fan in name only. We had a falling out with the contractor who has the receipt. Hunter will only warranty it with the receipt. We recently bought a Hunter 6-bladed fan (64" blade span) to replace a fan on our covered back porch. I had a licensed electrician perform the installation, which was solid. My first problem was the lack of air movement, even at high speed. My first thought was that the blade pitch was insufficient or maybe the enclosed mounting pipe might have been too short. Using their website, I contacted Hunter Customer Service using the e-mail capability. At first, I wanted my money back for the fan and the cost of installation. I would have been satisfied with a pipe extension or shims to change the blade pitch. First, they denied even making the fan, when I sent a picture of the label on the box, they started a dialog with me. I explained the problem, and the Customer Service person concentrated on room size, requesting room dimensions, 12'x40'x8'. To prove the size of the room, which I have attached, the view of the backyard was meaningless to CS personnel. They responded with a flyer comparing room size with blade size. Considering one "wall" of the room is my 16'x32' pool with a screen room and the backyard. I felt more frustrated. In any event, Hunter Fan Customer Service stopped communicating with me, saying they turning the problem over to another department. So far, Hunter Fan Company has stopped all communications. My recommendation for ceiling fans, be sure to avoid the Hunter label. This company is not the Hunter Fans of old. They do not produce a quality product anymore. After paying an electrician to install a Hunter fan, the remote control receiver malfunctioned. This malfunction occurred under a week after installation. After contacting Hunter, they offered to send a replacement fan but it was on me to pay an electrician a second time. If you are not comfortable installing fans yourself, I would avoid Hunter fans as you may have to pay to have a fan installed more than once. In addition, the customer service experience was not great. I wish I'd read reviews before I bought an original Hunter Fan eight years ago when rehabbing this beautiful old house were in now. I didn't only because we've had Hunter Fans for years. When one (of many we've owned) bit the dust about 20 years ago, Hunter replaced it immediately and with kind of gracious attitude you wish every customer service department had. However, when one of three fans we bought 8 years ago gave up the ghost and scrambled on top of the fan to photograph the model number, I noticed MADE IN CHINA and wondered, could this be the reason for the breakdown? No matter, I called customer service, which we're now inclined to call customer disservice and was told in no uncertain terms (and a bit rudely) that without the invoice, they could offer me only a 30 percent discount on a new fan. Five identical model fans installed in my home when built, back in 2005, and one was warrantied five years back for failure. Attempted to warranty another this summer and was told they can't honor their lifetime warranty without original receipt. I purchased a fan and the glass globe was broken. It happens, but packaging was not adequate. I contacted them and after a few emails proving I purchased a fan, they said they didn't have any replacement globes until September. So they would send me a new fan. I'm supposed to remove the globe and send the fan back. They would include a prepaid shipper to return. They did send a new fan. The globe was intact, but again packaging was poor. Of course no prepaid shipper was attached. After two more ridiculous emails they said prepaid shipper is attached to the email, not the product. The link to the shipper is not identified as such. I've been trying for months -about 10 months to get a receiver replaced that never worked on a brand new fan. I bought two of them, one worked, one didn't. I purchased 4 new Hunter Fans for my house and had my electrician come and install them all with the last 4 weeks. Two were hand held remotes 2 were wall switches. After a few weeks one of the fans stopped working properly. You can use the power button to turn it on and off however the light and fan cannot be turn on using the light button or the fan button. They go o and off together. Called Hunter Customer Service and was told that they will send me a replacement fan. When I asked about who was going to cover the cost of the uninstall and install of the new fan I was told that that was my problem. Their fans are made to be installed by the "normal" person and an electrician was not necessary. I asked for his definition of "normal person". I then asked if her really thought a 75 year old woman should be able to do the job and he said yes. I asked if a 10 year old could do the job. He said yes. I just moved from New York to North Carolina and my address was not updated by me so I called the company and spoke to a guy named James who said he would handle it. Then I get not one but two emails with links to FedEx to update my address and guess what the links don't work at all. Installing these fans can be a big job. You need to be sure to have all the tools to install the fan the screws are a challenge. Unless you are an expert at ceiling fans, expect to take 3 hours to complete the installation. The fans are nice looking and once you have it installed can make a room feel cool. read more

I have ordered 4 downrods. For whatever reason, they split the order into two shipments. The first, which consisted of one downrod, was received without a problem. The second when accessing the order on Hunter's web site doesn't show the product was ever picked up by the carrier. I contacted them by phone. (Their auto-attendant system is terrible) I finally got reached a customer service representative that they would not take any potential corrective action for two weeks from the date the label was shown to be made. And at the two week point, I would have to again contact them to start the process to get replacements or a refund. I worked customer service for 30 years and we NEVER put a customer through such a ridiculous process including requiring the customer to reach back out to start the resolution process. As a customer, I have had interactions with many company's customer service departments and never encountered such a ridiculous policy. For me, how I rate an organization is by the customer service they provide after the sale. This separates the good from the bad. Your instructions reference the same page I have been trying to access. When you click the English instructions you get File not found. This is after waiting a week for a response. I have tried your computerized phone line but it bounces to where it hangs up on me despite my input. I will take the fan down and take it back to Home Depot tonight. I am appalled at the sad way Hunter conducts business. I purchased 4 fans to be delivered to my home with 4 down rods. The purchase was made online and couldn't be completed because the down rods were on backorder. I was required to call customer service to place my order. My challenges began with the order, person was very nice, process was extremely challenging. The price for the fans was $ 800 dollars more than my online cart and after the order was placed I identified that the wrong price was charged. For three weeks I attempted to get credit for the overage and today am sending the fans back. The company who was a market leader is failing and I can only assume they will be out of business before long. To the management at Hunter, talk to your staff they are well aware of inherent problems with your process and products. Very sad to see a company that was an industry leader fall short.
