I have been traveling to St Cloud, Florida for many years to visit family that moved there. I have watched it grown into a gem of a downtown area. If you appreciate older hotels you will love Hunters Arms! Located in the heart of downtown right in the middle of other wonderful businesses. You've got a deli nearby, many coffee shops, in fact one right below the hotel (John 3:16 cafe) and a cigar/cuban coffee shop you can't miss out on!! There's restaurants, bakeries and many little family shops and businesses nearby. They have a police department in town there and a substation where local officers walk the beat in town. Don't forget to visit your local VFW !! Very old school charm downtown and the hotel shares that charm. It's dated but special. Excellent staff and low cost for weary travelers wanting to have $ for other things. You'll have plenty to shop for right out the front door when you stay here. A MUST try experience if you like kicking it old school which I do. Come experience the magic of the hidden gem that this hotel and downtown is!! If you're a hotel snob this is not the place for you. I was at the Hunter Arms for an event, I did not stay in a room. As far as a space for an even it was pretty good. The interior decor was a good nod to the past. The outdoor area was nice. Located right in downtown St. Cloud, it is quaint. I don't know that I would stay at the hotel unless I was attending an event there of somewhere nearby but it was cute enough. read more

Hotel smells like old socks moist and moldy. You can hear everything from your room even with the windows shut. The people are racist and disrespectful. The free breakfast is limited to coffee and a bagel. Honestly one of the worst Hotels in the area. Overall outdated and under maintained. I have some pro and cons on this historic hotel. It's located right in the middle of everything we love. Shops and restaurants and bars and a cigar place. Just up the road is the large lake and crabby bill's restaurant. We stayed in 217 , it was a king suit. I wasn't sure to give this place a 3 or 4 star. All this place needs is a little better maintenance and cleaning . We are ok staying in a older hotel knowing things won't be like the ritzzz. Lol. But the walls in the bathroom were disgusting and you could see blood splatter high on shower wall. We never got really hot water but it warmed up enough to shower after about 7 minutes. The staff is super friendly and helpful. So if you are ok staying in a older hotel , then I do recommend this place. Oh and the bed is squishy but we sleep perfectly with no back problems. read more

Historical hotel built in '37. Located in the heart of the antique district of the old city. Lots of revitalization of the brick roads. Main lobby is absolutely phenomenal, reminiscent of a lodge with Elk and deer heads. Fireplace with bear skin over the mantle is a nice touch. Quaint bar, several large, leather sofas. My room: Queen suite. No wall light switches, ceiling fan light was a reach and I'm over 6'. Toilet wobbles so be careful. Needs maintenance such as painting, trim work, better lighting. Bed is cozy and firm. One large dresser, mini-fridge and coffee maker. Overall, decent fare for the location. read more

I wish I could give this place higher than 5 stars. Everything was perfect. Naomi planned my wedding and reception venue there / we had everything open bar and got a room to when we got ready in and photographer took amazing pics this place is a hidden historical gem.I believe 1929 opened rooms and beds comfy and I'm a bed and clean freak and loved it. i cannot forget to mention the nice people who work there make you feel like family and we just met. the are great for holding all kinds of events. the garden is beautiful and relaxing you won't be sorry of this place. read more

Should have looked at Yelp instead of Trip Advisor. This is NOT a boutique hotel. It's more like a boarding house from days of settlers. The lobby and the stairs are beautiful. The staff was sweet. But the hotel rooms... what a disappointment! TV box hanging from the wall. Sink pulled away from the wall. Toilet jammed in so you have to sit sideways. Furniture, shelves, tv the bed look like they were purchased from Goodwill. Speaking of the bed... ours looked and felt more like a futon than a bed. The foot of the bed was actually higher than the head of the bed! And the pillows were just awful. So incredibly thin, and covered with decorative slip covers rather than pillowcases. The truth about this place is that it's meant for drifters and linemen traveling across state. Any adult who enjoys staying at a Hampton, Embassy suites, or even a Comfort Inn, will find these rooms to be reprehensible. Stay somewhere else. read more

Love this hotel. It's historic, in a fabulous location and a classic American experience. The staff is professional and friendly. The location is A+. Could it stand a thorough cleaning, yes, like the remote. Could it use an update on interior of rooms, probably but you will not find a better deal. It's easy to walk to the quaint, antique and eateries right next door. Parking is easy. And it's quiet, no highway noise but east access to the Florida Turnpike. And around the corner is the Cup Diner which has the best eggs I've ever eaten. read more

I was really pleasantly surprised by this lovely and unique hotel. I made a reservation to stay here while I visited family in St. Cloud. The hotel has a lot of old character to it. The rooms are spacious and have a very large TV. The room came with a refrigerator and a microwave which was perfect for my extended stay there. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. There is a nice patio out back to relax in or some great space at the front of the hotel to sit and hang out as well. The restaurant/bar downstairs on the main level was really lively and great offerings, even during COVID times. I've heard there are even some friendly spirits walking around the hotel at times, although I never got to interact with them. I will definitely be back to stay again!! read more

My boyfriend and I are from Miami & we love going camping up north from time to time. Staying at Hunter Arms Hotel before actually tent camping is our favorite thing to do! It's our 3rd time staying there and it's a wonderful experience every time! From the customer service to the hotel decorations. Everything is just 10/10. We will definitely be coming back and telling our friends and family about it too. AND it was in the movie 2000 maniacs so that's really neat!!! read more

Be warned that there is no central air conditioning and the window units don't work well at all.The entire hotel has no air conditioning including the restaurant on site . The lock on our door shut and wouldn't open with the key . The staff had to break the lock off so we could get in and we had to put a chair in front of the door to keep it shut. We will never stay there again read more

I have stayed here before about six months ago and it was a fun, cute, and inexpensive place to stay at. This trip however was different. On our way into town, the front office lady decided to call us and ask how far out we were so she could go to dinner. Um ok? Then once we arrived we were checked in by a worker not front office staff. When you walked it, it wreaks of cigarette smoke so much so that it is over powering. Get up to the room. The room wreaks of smoke, dirty, used toiletries, and worst of all roaches. Anytime we tried to talk to someone, no one was there, no one answered the bell, no one answered the phone. Beyond disgusted with this place now and will never return which is a disappointment because it is a cute hotel when you walk in. And yes I understand places have bugs but really.. read more

The grossest hotel I have ever stayed at in my life .. like it was legitimately filthy. Had to get our own cleaning supplies to clean the toilet (which had a fake "sanitized" thing on it, then literally had pubic hairs on the toilet seat) and had to sanitize the head board on the bed bc it was filthy and covered in dirt, dust and sticky stuff. Cobwebs and dust everywhere. There was no hand soap in the bathroom. The toilet was so small and crammed into the bathroom you had to sit on it SIDEWAYS and the walls had boogers smeared on them. I wish I was exaggerating. Floors were so dirty I had to wear my shoes the whole time. When we first walked in I was impressed and loved the historic feel of the hotel and the lobby is nice- the room was just so nasty. :( Only things that were clean were the sheets and towels. There also wasn't anywhere to get water- the vending machine was out. Feel like we should have gotten our money back. They also said there would be someone at the front desk all night, but when we went down a little after midnight to ask for some hand soap there was no one there and everything was closed up. Great hotel with friendly staff and clean rooms, I did NOT come across any bugs as stated by other reviewers and being in property maintenance, I have seen my fair share and know what to look for. The hotel has a lot of charm and potential. At first walking in (and in the room) it reeks of old smoke. They have attempted to refurbish the hotel but the smoke smell remains. The room was small but served our needs. The bed had a foot board that should be removed. Due to the tight space we consistently kept hitting our shins on the footboard. The housekeeping was not good. It is apparent that deep cleaning is not done. The shower curtain had mold on it (see pic) and floors/baseboards were dirty (see pic). We were there for only a one night stay so we did not go to the bar or eat at the facility. The staff was friendly. read more

We stayed for 2 nights when we checked in my room didn't have any bedding on it and no curtains on the windows and the bathroom was still dirty so they cleaned and fixed it all up and gave me a bottle of wine on the house which was great it is a really cute and historic building (pics below)but no one was working the bar even though they have a happy hour and no one was even at the front desk 90% of the time... even to check out there was a sign to call the managers personal number if you needed something ...they also have people who live there and smoke not just cigerrates mind you and it's suppose to be a smoke free building I wasn't thrilled about this because we had formal events to go to and I didn't want to smell like smoke and every time you left your room it was like someone was standing there blowing smoke in your face. I recently (March 12th) stayed in Room 208. It was an awesome room, except for 2 things. There was no heat and there was no hot water at 8:00 AM on March 13th for a shower. I loved the history of the hotel. I thought it was something right out of a 1930s-40 James Cagney police movie. My daughter in-law told me it was haunted with either a nice, kind talkative ghost, or a mean one. She said she was not sure which hotel had the respective ghost. Amid the spread of the corona virus they had no soap and bed bugs as many of the other reviewers mentioned, so if the germs don't transfer it the bedbugs will. I've been bitten in at least 7 different areas! They also had no lotion, no shampoo, no staff. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that this place was obviously not the cleanest. It's already enough of the corona virus spreading in the air so you don't need filth and bed bugs to spread it quicker! read more

Photos do not justify the hotel. Photos are deceiving. No one is ever around to get help. The charged me twice and said they would refund my account but never did and now they have caller I'd and won't answer my calls. The worst hotel. Roaches, dirty towel......floors never mopped. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here and we do NOT recommend it. There is an EXTREMELY strong odor of cigarettes from the moment you walk through the door. We waited in the lobby for a while & no one could be found. Thankfully a young girl came to help us, she worked in the attached salon. When we finally got to our room it was dirty & the shower curtain had mold on in! The blonde British women at the front desk was AWFUL...extremely rude and not cut out for a customer service job. Safe to say we will not be back. Hope we saved you from a terrible experience. However I did get a shampoo blow-dry from the attached salon and it was wonderful! read more

So i booked 3 nights in this hotel when i got their i refused to stay . The room was a non smoking room of course it did smell like cigarettes. The lady told me they will give me a full refund and then when they found out i gave them a review on hotel.com they refused to give me a full one and charged me 3 nights . This lobby looks exactly like the photos, but sadly guests weren't allowed to enjoy the lobby or lounge this weekend because of a wedding. Both Friday and Saturday any guests of the hotel not a part of the wedding were instructed (by a handwritten sign taped to the door) to use the elevator only, and not enter the lobby. On my 2nd night, when I came back to the hotel before dinner, my key wasnt working. So, I had to go to the lobby to get a new key. On my way back up the stairs ( closer to the office than the elevator) I was stopped and told I needed to use the elevator... even though that meant I'd have to cross all the way thru the lobby past the stairs I was already using. This was the type of nonsense I dealt with all weekend. I arrived early, before check in. I realized that my room would probably not be ready. But all I wanted to do was wait in the lobby and have a drink from the lounge, and read a book until my room was ready. Obviously i was in the way of the Wedding set up... but whoever thought the tiny lobby was a good place for an exclusive event was a horrible planner. There was a beautiful room off the lobby for special events, but that's where they set up catering staff. The party should have been in the room, and catering can set up outside in the back l, and the lobby can remain open. Anyway I was charged extra for arriving before checkin. Even though there was no usable lobby for me to wait in. The room looks nothing like the photos. It was like a College dorm room. Not a single photo, mirror or piece of art on the walls. Just a bed. A tv, and 2 dirt covered windows with curtains and a window unit air conditioner. It wasnt bad, just not pretty, or charming. Apparently there are some permanent residents in the building, some who smoke... even though the hotel claims to be non smoking. One room smelled strongly of pot smoke every time I walked by. But unless you were involved in " the wedding" no one cared. Very disappointing experience. The photos made it look so nice. I wish I could have been allowed in that part of the building. read more
