I phoned wanting to know whether a certain person had brought in a dress for consignment here the previous day, because she'd taken a dress she'd previously been selling on FB Marketplace to a consignment store just before I'd told her I wanted it. When I asked what store she'd taken the dress to (I really wanted it!), the seller didn't answer. She didn't seem to care. So I started phoning consignment stores, hoping to find the dress.
Out of the many stores I called, Hunter and Hare is the only one that refused to tell me whether that seller had brought in clothes the day before. (Sellers' and buyers' names are on Marketplace, so wth?) I was advised to instead go to this store every day to look for the dress. Seriously? The time involved in that, and the likelihood being low that it would be at this particular store...
And, if I did find the dress there, I'd know that this Marketplace seller had taken consignment clothes to this store. What a taboo, horrifying revelation! What would I do with that forbidden, dangerous information? Just buy the damn dress!
I've never been to this store, and now I never will. I cringe just having to type their goofy (supposed to be sophisticated?) name. read more
