Let's delve into how the year went. For all the appointments, it was all cleaning. There were no cavities found during each stop. I admit I kind of slacked off on dental flossing, but nothing out of the ordinary. I did have a 3rd visit where I had some pain on my lower gums when I drank cold beverages, but it was an exposed root which was fixed with solution. Also, with having TMJ which affects my jaw popping, I would have to get a mouth guard in the future. But for now, everything is fine for the time being. Well, there you have it. Good care for my teeth with no major hiccups. Let's hope it stays that way in the near future.

My journey started in October 2024 and involved multiple dentists, crown replacements, countless adjustments, consultations with specialists, and even a root canal. Throughout that time, I knew something still wasn't right, but I never felt like anyone was truly getting to the bottom of the problem. From my first visit, Dr. Loren Masuoka was different. He listened carefully to my concerns, took my symptoms seriously, and never made me feel like I was imagining things. Instead of dismissing what I was experiencing, he genuinely wanted to understand why I was still having pain and find a solution. During my appointment, he took the time to evaluate my bite and noticed that my crown was taking most of the force when I bit down. He carefully adjusted it and explained what he was seeing. The result has been incredible. For the first time since October 2024, I can chew on the right side of my mouth without pain. The cold sensitivity is gone, and I no longer spend every meal worrying about that tooth. After nearly two years of frustration, appointments, and uncertainty, I finally feel like myself again. The greatest gift Dr. Masuoka gave me was making me feel heard. When you've been dealing with a problem for that long, having a dentist who listens, believes you, and genuinely wants to help is invaluable. Today I arrived at appt for my son and he was rejected being seen due to a balance on my acct that…read moreis being disputed with Delta Dental. The balance is for a chipped tooth I've had repaired 3 times at Morrison and it's still chipped. The first repair was May 4, 2026. It chipped the same week when I was flossing. I went back for the second repair and it chipped again within 2 weeks. The third repair lasted about a month and came off when I was brushing my teeth. I didn't reschedule to have repaired for a fourth time because the other repairs were not successful. I've been looking for another dental practice for my family however there's no current openings at most practices. I have $1500 HSA available and refuse to pay a balance for a service that was not successful. My son should have been seen today being that the office is aware I'm disputing the charge. They would not see him because I would not cover balance and to add insult to injury they're charging $60 cancellation fee when we were there and on time for the appt. They refused to see him. I have not been pleased with Morrison service at all appts cleanings and procedures. Today gave me confirmation that I need to take my family to another practice. They are short staff with hygienist and dentist. They do not do thorough cleanings and procedures as you can see with my chipped tooth repair this is still broken after 3 attempts. I do not recommend this practice.

That was a year ago and I have returned to her twice since the first procedure. The second two times was for additional periodontal work on the other side of my mouth and for a maintenance check up. Each side was different as the deterioration of my gums were different. The office and examination rooms are all clean, neat and tidy. A good sampling of current magazines can be found in the waiting room. I found her entire staff friendly, professional and efficient. The office staff was accommodating in fitting me in for my visits. The financial manager was informative and offered financial options especially for seniors who are retired and whose retirement plans may not include dental Insurances. It freed up time for Dr. Duggan to concenrate on her patients. My office visits were always timely and may I say for the most part painless. Can't help those pinches of oral injections! Dr. Duggan' s friendly bedside manners as well as her gentle touch was a factor for my subsequent returned visits for additional treatments dispite the 40 mins drive to Newport News. Additionally, the technicians who assisted her are knowledgeable, well trained and friendly. They offered good advice and instructions for proper oral hygiene and post surgical care. I was contacted both times after my procedures by Dr. Duggan herself or an assistant. I definitely would give Dr. Duggan and her staff at Yorktown Periodontics a thumb's up!

Dr. Artzer always lays out my options in plain terms, treating me like an adult who can make decisions about his own teeth. His office has all the equipment you could need. The staff is wonderful! They are incredibly friendly and professional. Every time I go in they make me feel like family. It's pretty rare when a dentist's office can make a standard cleaning something I actually sort of look forward to. I enjoy coming here. It seemed like the first person might have been in training, because several images had to be retaken before a more experienced staff member stepped in. Then, as I was leaving the office and walking through the building's main entrance, I saw a mouse stuck in a glue trap right by the front door. That was disturbing and left a bad impression.
