He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. I went to the suggested place that Saturday where I was told they needed to do extra work that would cost $100 extra and they'd have to keep my car over the weekend (requiring me to get a rental). Instead, I waited to call Triangle Car Care on Monday, I asked them what the approximate cost would be for them to just replace everything. He told me it would be way more, but he would check with a buddy of his on the other side of town for another quote for me. He called me back that morning, gave me a ballpark figure, told me I could drop off my car Wednesday morning, his wife would drive it over and he'd have it back to me by Wednesday night so that I'd have time before my trip. It ended up saving me $100 in labor costs and a 2-day car rental. It was SO nice, his wife even waited at the shop for them to work on it.
