Ordered: Firebird HungryMeal Combo (~$17): FireBird Sandwich (Purple Cabbage Slaw, Sichuan Chili Oil), Seasoned Ranch Fries, Guava Pineapple Fizz-O (+$1) w Cream Cap (+$1) with sauces (Dilly Ranch, Garlic Herb, Honey Mustard, BBQ) Aya's take: HungryBird is doing things right! This is still the cleanest tasting fast food I've had. Staff is friendly, the menu is simple (sandwiches, bites, fries, ice cream, drinks) with a good variety of flavor profiles, and most importantly everything is excellent! The Firebird is my favorite sandwich here. The Sichuan chili oil is more than just heat and actually has good flavor that is nicely balanced by the purple cabbage slaw and of course their sauces! You can't go wrong with any but their Dilly Ranch & Garlic Herb are top contenders. Their Seasoned Ranch Fries are unlike anything I've had anywhere else and highly addictive! I love that they offer Fizz-O's which is their signature fizzy lemonades with different fruit flavors. The Guava Pineapple was light, sweet, and tropical. The Cream Cap needs to be an option on their ice cream! It's sweetened with honey and is light & fluffy. If you're anywhere in North Jersey, please do yourself a favor! read more

If you think all chicken sandwiches taste the same, you haven't been here... I was not expecting Hungry Bird be this good. Everything is chef-crafted, culturally inspired, and even seed oil free! We tried their classic chicken sandwich and the deluxe--both super juicy, simple, and done right. But the Firebird sandwich had the perfect spicy kick. The fries were crispy and seasoned well, the bird bites were like elevated chicken tenders, and they have so many housemade sauces to try with everything. My personal favorite was the sweet and sour. We washed it all down with their Fizz-o drinks, lemonade, strawberry and mango, which was my favorite. These were light and refreshing with a nice fizz. And you have to save room for dessert--the honey gold ice cream is soft serve dipped in chocolate with honeycomb dust... so good, so golden. The space is also really colorful and open, so it's actually a cute spot to sit and eat. And they sell the absolute cutest merch! The staff is so friendly and welcoming and they are extremely proud of their new restaurant. Worthy spot to support! Let me tell you that I have been here many many times since they've opened - enough to have tried literally every single menu item, and I cannot rave about this place enough! I thought about gate keeping this place because this place is about to blow up. Where do I start? While all of their sandwiches are delicious, with the perfect bun to meat to veggie ratio, it's the juicy, flavorful, tender yet crispy chicken that really sets this place apart from the rest and shows the quality of this place. I can write an ode to my personal fave of the three - the FireBird. It is SO unique to HungryBird, and I literally crave this all the time. That slaw is the perfect accompaniment to the umami bomb flavor of the Szechuan chili oil-infused chicken. What girl meal is complete without some nuggies? The Bird Bites are juicy little morsels that are the perfect dipping vehicle for all of their amazing sauces, which is where this place shines! You have got to try them all. I'm a little bit of a basic b and love their house made honey mustard, sweet and sour (do I taste some tropical pineapple in there?), and garlic herb sauces. Don't make me choose just one! The ranch fries are to die for. Especially when they're piping hot just out of the fryer - there's nothing better than that coated fry crunch with the dilly ranch seasoning sprinkled on top. Don't forget to wash all of that goodness down with their range of fizzy lemonades, which are so lightly bubbly and balance of sweet and tart. And then just when you think it can't get any better, end on an even higher note by getting their honeycomb dusted and chocolate coated soft serve cone. My secret tip: you can ask for a swirl of both vanilla and chocolate (why choose). Honestly I can tell how premium all of their ingredients are by not only the quality of the flavors and level of tastiness but I have also never felt sick and oily after eating here. And trust me during the most recent snow storm when I couldn't make it to HungryBird, I got another fast food chain fried chicken sandwich instead and felt so sick later that night and regretted even more that I couldn't get my HungryBird. Lastly, this place is so kid- and family-friendly. My kids love it here and ask to come back all the time. HungryBird - you have made a loyal customer out of me. We've been here a few times since Hungry Bird opened and it's been consistently great every time. The menu is small, but everything is executed really well. Fresh flavors, seed oil free, AND fairly priced which is almost impossible to find lately. Sold, sold, sold. What really makes this place stand out though is the customer service. The young woman who usually works the front counter (I forgot her name, but she has gorgeous eyelashes so she's memorable!) is always incredibly kind to my family and genuinely seems happy to be there. That kind of warmth goes a long way. Refreshing to see a local business putting this much care into both the food and the customer experience. We'll definitely keep supporting them. read more

I thought it was a franchise but was corrected by the BEYOND FRIENDLY and good energy teen working the counter. I was so impressed with him that I have to mention him by name. TYLER. I observed him waiting on others while i was waiting for my order and they are very lucky to have him as a team member. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. They have a bunch of sauces and I had Tyler pick 3 random ones and they did not disappoint. Going on record as the best fries or top 3 I have ever had. They were seasoned with a hint of dill and dipped in the garlic sauce they have, it was delicious. I am a full fledged customer moving forward and will 100% be going there at least once a week. Needed a quick stop after a hockey game at Montclair State. The service was beyond friendly and quick. It was clean and the food was on point. Tender juicy chicken, crispy hot fries and tasty drinks. We didn't capture a picture of the chocolate honey comb dipped ice cream, but you should leave room for that! We wish they had one in South Jersey but will have to find an excuse just to come back. Heard about this restaurant just recently and was looking forward to tasting their chicken! It was one of, if not the best, chicken sandwiches I have ever had! It was crispy, juicy and very tender! Simply done with pickles and mayo, it could not have been better. Their homemade sauces are top notch with very flavorful and different choices. Their "firebird" has just enough heat, while the honey mustard tasted as it should, very well balanced! You can try four if you get their combo. Their "bird bites" are very good also, cooked perfect. French fries were excellent with a different flavor, crispy and again, well cooked! Restaurant was very clean and staff was helpful and very friendly! Forgot to mention the lemonade mixes they have for drinks, which are clean and refreshing! With so many choices for chicken nowadays, in my opinion, this one is right out in front! read more

The fries were crispy with a tangy ranch seasoning - I finished the entire (generously sized) box before I got home. Recent visit to the new franchise opening was a major surprise. If you're going to specialize in nothing but chicken and potatoes I guess you have to do it right, I can honestly say everything was right. The service was fast and friendly. The customers were enjoying the food and although its not a huge location it had plenty of room for my table of 5. Drinks were refreshing and they actually have hand made ice cream with a delicious hard shell chocolate and honeycomb crumbs that were delicious.
