Hungry Korean is a great place to have a quick lunch in the middle of Causeway Bay. Located near Hysan Place, Hungry Korean isn't very big, so it's likely that you'll have to get in line and wait especially if you come during peak lunch and dinner times. It's kind of like a fast food restaurant in that you order and pay for your food before going to your table, with the exception that the food is then brought to you.
I have only tried the bibimbaps here - you can choose between the chicken, pork, beef and squid ones. You can also add $9 to it to get a drink, and/or $14 for the side dishes (I've not tried though). I've had the chicken and the beef bibimbaps, and they're pretty good. The rice is served in a steaming stone pot, so be careful not to touch it! Inside, the rice is mixed with the meat of your choice, an egg, onions, carrots and some other vegetables. The stone pot is hot enough to keep your rice at a good temperature till you finish, and I love leaving some rice at the bottom for it to char and become a little crispy. The egg is nice and runny, and the chicken and beef is very tender, although there isn't a lot of it. I find the portion perfect for me for a quick lunch, but I don't eat a lot so I would imagine that anybody else would find this a little bit on the small side.
Hungry Korean is no place for you to sit and chat with a friend - the place is popular, and even when you're done with your food you'll still that there's a line of people forming outside! It's no wonder that the place is as popular as it is - the food is good and the prices are fairly affordable. If you love bibimbap, definitely stop by here. As for how authentic it is, I wouldn't know as I've never been to Korea, but a Korean friend of mine attests that this is pretty much as good as it gets! read more
