Peter Steele is exceptionally knowledgeable, and efficiently precise. I'm usually out of his office in about half the time it took either H&R Block or Liberty Tax. To top things off, his rates are more affordable than either of those two; I paid about $70 this year, compared to the $100+ with the last two companies. What forced me to switch from H&R Block, and then from Liberty Tax, was the extensive research I did in the employee's training and qualifications. Allow me to save you the trouble of searching it for yourself; the findings are scary. It appears that just about anyone can become a representative for either of those companies. Inexperience isn't an issue for Peter Steele, however. He's an LLC, so you can be confident in your decision to trust him with your monetary information. The only problem I have with his company is how cluttered it can be; it can be pretty full with massive amounts of paperwork and file cabinets, but don't let that scare you off! I had to identify and correct these issues myself, and the firm conducted extra internal review without informing me. The errors I identified were either acknowledged in writing or revised in subsequent drafts. When I met with the owner on June 8 and presented detailed emails outlining these errors, he said he would look into it but never responded. My check was cashed on June 12 despite unresolved problems, and a certified letter I sent on June 15 requesting an amicable resolution was ignored. The final bill was double my deposit, with no communication that costs would increase. Although the firm advertises decades of experience and attention to detail, the work I received did not reflect those claims. While the individual employee responsible no longer works at the firm, Huddleston as a business refused to take ANY responsibility for their negligence. When I tried to request a fair settlement from Huddleston--such as receiving a partial refund for the amount I paid for their tax services given that they failed to fulfill their duties--they stopped responding to my messages. When you trust a business with something as important as your financials, you deserve better, and as a fellow small business owner, I am incredibly disappointed in Huddleston CPAs.
