We were welcomed with a brief overview of the company and treated to a sparkling matcha limeade on the patio. Following this we were treated to a fantastic sandwich and beverage pairing. The diced chicken was marinated in Coca Cola and cold brew then served on toasted fresh made bread with house made bbq sauce and veggies. Then paired with a cold brew mixed with Coca-Cola and topped with a cherry-vanilla cold top. Phenomenal. Just as incredible was the bakery case. After a tough decision making process, I took home a cookie, Lemon Goat Cheesecake, and blueberry pop-tart. The cheesecake and poptart were best I've ever had in each category and the cookie that I didn't even get a taste of, was declared "the best damn cookie I've ever had" by my wife. Two days later she is still talking about it. With the welcoming and friendly owner and staff, the creative and top tier products, and a cool environment; I'm all in for frequent trips from the Northland to Brookside for further exploration.

The biscuit sandwich was oozing with cheese and sauce so I ended up cutting into it with a fork and knife. The pear compote had an apple pie filling vibe to it, which was almost too sweet for me even though it went well with the salty smoked ham. The nutty bitterness from the fontina added a little bit too much contrast for me. This would be a good choice for people who like sweet and salty things. Overall, each component was tasty, but this particular sandwich wasn't exactly my preferred taste! The oat milk latte was good! Nice and foamy with a good amount of bitterness from the espresso. I was curious about their huge pastry case and would love to try those in the future.

My Winner of Best Restaurant Week Meal 2026…read more I hadn't been back to Westport Cafe for a few years but now I'm kicking myself because I've been missing out! I remembered this restaurant being one of my favorites in years past . For some reason it fell off my radar. Now it's shining like a beacon of fine dining French inspired cuisine in Westport, an entertainment district known for a more casual environment. If you are looking for a special date night meal, somewhere for a girls night or just for a treat yourself dinner I would highly suggest Westport Cafe. Let's talk about this incredible restaurant week menu. First was the deconstructed crab cake (which is always on the menu) I would order this dish again and again. The way it was presented was a work of art. All the components were complex and it was fun to eat. It has such an essence of crab without the heaviness deep fried crab cakes usually have. Seafood is special here because the Trout Almondine was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It begs to be added to the menu. The sauce was buttery and rich with nutty notes, the citrus cut through the richness so, it didn't seem heavy. The fish was cooked impeccably, I literally had no notes. They know what they're doing in that kitchen! And you know if I can rave about green beans then it was a perfectly executed dish. They had such a nice snap and vibrant green color, they were delicious dipped in that sauce. I cannot wait to go back for another solo splurge meal. This was my second dinner of the evening so I didn't make it to dessert at the restaurant but, I did take it to-go. I'm not a big dessert girl so, it wasn't very memorable however, the rest of the meal is engrained in my mind. I remember back a few years ago I used to go crazy for the muscles here so, I can't wait to sample them again. Also, just a note any menu that has rabbit on it just completes me. It's so hard to find nowadays in Kansas City and it's one of my favorite meats to indulge in. The menu rotates seasonally (as one should) so, I need to rush back in soon before the rabbit leaves. I would suggest you rush in too, I do not think you'll regret it.

Cafe Trio is most definitely a hidden gem! The inside was very elegant, quiet, and had great ambiance. The pianist was also a great add on to the experience. The wait staff were nicely dressed and were all super sweet. Ross, our waiter had the bar make us our own wine which was just wine and juice mixed to get to the specific taste we wanted. I note this because not a lot of restaurants will go this far to accommodate but Cafe Trio did and it was just delicious. Let me tell yall about this grilled salmon. Absolutely delicuous! It was grilled thoroughly and still kept its shape. You can tell they put a lot of attention to their dishes because I only mostly came back here for the salmon and it was even better than the first time I had it, in fact even more delicious! The gnocchi ricotta was also delicious. Soft, pillowy, and just melts in your mouth after biting into it. My husband enjoyed his pasta, which they added mushrooms to because he doesn't eat meat. At the end of the night, I had them surprise my husband with a cake and they added a candle to it so that we may commemorate our 2 years. Honestly this place is great and the food speaks for itself. They have a new menu coming out and I'm already making plans on coming back to try it out.

The Bloody Mary I got was perfectly spicy, the old fashioned tasted watered down. The service was consistent, but did take long on check backs and took awhile to get our bill. After several visits over the years, I've only had their coffee and pastries, not their cafe food. The interior is cute and there's often a queue upon entering to order at the counter, but don't let that intimidate you because it moves fast. I recommend getting some of their water on tap (both still and sparkling water are available) if you have to wait! If you're queer like me, you'll likely be drinking a cold black coffee and they have options! They have a regular cold brew in 3 sizes, a cold brew of the moment / seasonal (ask about it!) and a cold brew shandy for something different. My partner and I got two different cold brews on tap today, the original and the Seasonal Single Origin Honduran one. The single origin Honduran was better, but their original was good too. There's a lot of seating, but it's usually taken up, so I tend to just take my coffee to go. Expect to walk out for around $6ish a cup. They clearly care about providing you a good experience with a strong cup of coffee. Give them a shot if you're in downtown Overland Park!

A father and daughter duo next to me showed up in a dandy double breasted suit and a princess dress. I wish the food was as good as the vibe. The coffee, while decent, was lukewarm and the scone I got was stale and dry, coming close to inedible. This, at a cost of nearly $11 after tax. It's near terrible food definitely doesn't stop people from coming in, again, you are in one of the nicest areas of downtown OP and have limited coffee competition, so I guess food quality isn't your number one concern.
