I recently moved to Lexington and this was my first visit to the office. I decided on Dr. Hull after reading all the positive reviews. But unfortunately my experience was quite disappointing and did not live up to the hype. Maybe it is difficult to get qualified staff to a dental office in a small town, but I think people deserve better. If you enjoy being rushed, very painful and rough procedures during dental cleaning, spitting lots of blood, and possibly gum damage afterwards, this could be your place. Otherwise, avoid Chelsea, the dental hygienist. Normally I have a high tolerance for pain. And since I've always had great dental health, going to the dentist is generally a positive experience. But bleeding so much from teeth cleaning is a sign of bad dental technique/practice. I know because I grew up in a family of dentists. Below are details if you care to read more.
I went in for a routine checkup. Appointment process was smooth and they sent a reminder message to confirm, which was nice. I arrived 10 minutes early and did all the paperwork. After waiting for about 30 minutes and seeing people that arrived after me being called in, they finally called my name.
The whole process felt rushed. I was hurried to the X-ray and then hurried back to the chair. Chelsea, the dental hygienist, poked sharply at my teeth and gum to do the dental chart. It was extremely painful and she didn't even care to explain why she had to poke sharply at my gum for doing a routine dental chart. She was also quite condescending when explaining the dental X-ray.
The worst part comes with the cleaning procedure that she performed. I think she graduated recently and may not have had enough practice. It was terribly painful. I tried my best to maintain composure, but I find her techniques very abrasive. What's worse, while causing my gums to bleed, she casually mentioned that she enjoyed hunting and eating squirrels while I was watching on the TV some clips of squirrels! Talk about my horror! I felt the pain of those poor creatures at that very moment while feeling I was about to faint from the pain under her harsh treatment.
When it was finally over, she blamed the pain on me for not having been to the dentist for a while due to COVID. Yes, she literally said it was so painful and caused a lot of blood loss, not because she was a bad hygienist but because I could not see a dentist during the pandemic and had minor plaque buildup.
When Dr. Hull finally arrived after what felt like an excruciatingly long process, he said my teeth looked great and there was not much to worry about. He was professional and kind but I wished they did not do the "click bait" approach by adding procedures that a patient did not initially ask for. For the whole appointment, I spent less than 10 minutes with Dr. Hull. I did not know I would be seen by Chelsea. And if I did, I would not have chosen this practice.
Dr. Hull, if you are reading this, find yourself another dental hygienist that is capable and professional. And one that does not tell patients some sadistic stories of hunted and eaten squirrels while they are bleeding, under a lot of pain and watching live footages of squirrels! read more
