The evening had been arranged almost a month in advance, and our group spent close to $3500 on food and drinks. Unfortunately, what I remember most is how uncomfortable management made the celebration feel. A guest brought birthday balloons as a surprise, but management would not allow them beside our table and abruptly removed them. Taking pictures became another problem: management objected to phone photographs because the automatic flash was on. These were ordinary moments at a birthday and anniversary celebration, yet the interactions felt unnecessarily confrontational. Ray Ramirez, who introduced himself as the Director of Food and Beverage, intervened over photographs on the rooftop. I found his approach rude and unwelcoming. If flash photography or balloons are restricted, explain that politely and offer a reasonable solution. Guests should not feel reprimanded while celebrating. The contrast with our two waitresses was striking. They were warm, attentive, and kind. They deserve credit for bringing some hospitality to an evening that management repeatedly disrupted. The rooftop views are beautiful, but the setting cannot compensate for poor treatment. We came to celebrate an important milestone with friends and family, and management's conduct became a distraction throughout the evening. Hotel leadership needs to review how this lounge is managed and how its policies are communicated. Based on this experience, I would choose somewhere else for a special occasion. Our hosts put considerable time, effort, and money into this evening, and they deserved far better.
