We chose the little "Euphrasie" cottage in the back by the canal and enjoyed a roaring fireplace and cute little private patio right on the water. Totally immersive Bruges experience and just a few minutes walk to what you want to see. That cottage has sturdy but fairly steep steps inside, so maybe choose a standard room if that is an issue for you. This place has my highest recommendation.

You can also rent their bikes for €10/day. Breakfast was AMAZING. They have coffee, all kind of pastries, fruit, yogurt, eggs, cheese, bread, and will cook you fresh waffles or pancakes upon request. They always have a fire going in the fireplace which just adds to the whole experience. Rooms were excellent as well. Be prepared to climb lots of winding stairs, but I suppose that goes for most places in Europe. Highly recommend!!

The house is hundreds of years old with huge whitewashed beams on the high ceilings. Behind the house is a small private back yard with a Koi pond. A canal is just beyond the back yard, and across the canal is a picturesque park. My husband and I splurged on the suite which I highly recommend. It was like having our own gorgeous apartment since it has a separate entrance from the rest of the B&B. The suite has a cozy living room area, a well-equipped kitchenette, very comfortable master bedroom, large bathing room with giant soaking tub, shower and large vanity, and bathroom off the living room. In addition, we had large slider doors which gave us access to the beautiful garden space. Each morning we were welcomed to breakfast by Muriel, our lovely host. She made us eggs in addition to a large spread of breads, cheese, fresh fruit and a few sweets. This was included in our stay which was an excellent perk; we quickly discovered that dining in Bruges can be really pricey, even for basic lunches. At check-out, we were able to tour the rest of the space, including the loft, where a scene from In Bruges was filmed (bedroom scene with Colin Farrell)! The rooms are exactly as pictured - very old world elegance that has been updated as needed, including an elevator, wonderful baths, and glorious A/C if needed. The beds were comfortable, linens were fine, and furnishings plentiful. The location was great with an added bonus of a secure garage steps from the front door. Emmanuel is very helpful with recommendations for restaurants, helping us find a great place for dinner when the place we had a reservation decided not to open one evening! The breakfast prepared by Emmanuel's wife Maka is fit for a king! Meats, cheeses, eggs, lots of fruit, pastries, yogurt, juices, fancy coffees, and more. It was amazing, given there are only four rooms with a limited number of guests! We have friends in Belgium and when we visited them, I remember the same hospitality for breakfast - lots and lots of options. I highly recommend this maison for a short or long stay in Bruges. You will not be disappointed!!! PS. We stayed at Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce on a prior trip and found Maison le Dragon Guesthouse was better in every way - larger rooms, better breakfast, better amenities, and great personal attention.

We took the train from Antwerp to Bruges. The guesthouse is centrally located, just a block off the main street and walking was easy anywhere we wanted to go. Our room was large, spacious and attractively decorated. It was on the second floor and could be reached via the stairs or by the small elevator. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was lovely. The bathroom was divided into two parts, a toilet closet and a larger room w/ sink, shower and bathtub. Floors were marble tile. The windows opened onto a garden shared by the buildings surrounding it and birdsong and conversations from restaurant patrons formed a pleasant soundtrack. Free wifi was available in the room, which had a desk and chair at which to set up our laptop. Our host, Emanuel, was gracious and hospitable. His restaurant recommendations were excellent, aside from the first unfortunate one for lunch. Coffee and teas were available at any time. Breakfasts were capacious, starting w/ a large plate of fresh fruit for each of us, a basket of assorted breakfast pastries and breads, eggs (until we requested no eggs), a variety of very good cheeses and finishing w/ an assortment of chocolates. Truly no lunch was needed following that meal. Though we ate indoors, some guests opted to sit outdoors on the patio in back. The public rooms were attractively decorated and comfortable. Emanuel was also extremely helpful in making arrangements for us to get to Brussels without using the train, which we had found difficult w/ all our baggage. He gave us a lovely box of chocolates as a gift. We definitely would stay here again if we were to return to Bruges.

We stayed in the suite & it was gorgeous. Very quaint & characterful with oak beams, wooden floors & a four poster bed. B&B is around €140 a night when we stayed in Feb 2016. You get your own front door key to come & go as you please. Ann & her family live next door which adjoins the breakfast room. They have a dog who might bark but we never heard or saw it. Free wifi access, tea & coffee in your room & glass bottles downstairs to fill up with filtered water. The breakfast is buffet style, typical continental with bread, cheese, ham, croissants, tea & coffee with the addition of eggs cooked whichever way you'd like. We had soft boiled & done to perfection. There is a lounge area for you to relax in & even a small pool with sun loungers for the warmer months. Highly recommend this B&B to anyone staying in Bruges, we will definitely be returning!
