I booked an appointment expecting experienced medical guidance. Instead I was seen by Sarah…read moreDeForest MD. Based on publicly available information she does not appear to have completed her residency until 2022 and the visit felt like I was dealing with a provider who was still early in her career. This was a telemed visit that lasted about 18 minutes. During that time Dr DeForest made confident statements about how certain medications work that were medically incorrect. I pointed out the factual error calmly. The response was defensiveness rather than professionalism and the visit ended with an added E M complexity add on charge. There was also little awareness or consideration of pre authorizations and the small but important adjustments that are often required to align care with insurance coverage. Those details matter to patients and overlooking them creates unnecessary friction and cost. That add on is meant for additional complexity tied to ongoing longitudinal care not as a surcharge because a patient politely challenges a factual mistake. It came across like I was being billed for speaking up. I tried to resolve this through Samaritan. Billing did not provide a clear explanation despite repeated attempts. The E M complexity add on was later removed but other changes to the billing appeared after the fact which raised serious concerns about how the charges were being handled and documented. After getting nowhere internally I filed a complaint with the Oregon Medical Board and it is under review. I am not claiming to outrank an M D. I am saying I know when I am being brushed off and then billed for the privilege. I left feeling misadvised dismissed and with serious concerns about both the clinical professionalism and the billing practices.

I will be leaving Corvallis Family Medicine because my doctor-patient relationship with Dr. David…read moreAaron has not worked out. He may work for some people, but has not been helpful to me. I've been his patient for the past two years, and during my visits, I have not felt supported. Dr. David Aaron often makes condescending remarks about my health and lifestyle and is more negative than positive, which makes me terrified to go to the doctor and engage with him. He does more criticizing than supporting and helping me find solutions, which doesn't work well for me and my style. I need a doctor who can empower me and understand my circumstances--especially as someone who is working and going to school full-time (maintaining good health is hard!). His appointments are also very quick, which doesn't suit me well because I am someone who asks a lot of questions. This seems to be consistent with a few other reviews listed about him. I agree that he is short and the appointment feels rushed. In regards to his timeliness, I haven't had any issues with that. For professionalism, I'm not sure if he's skipped out on medical check requirements, but everything's been fine for me in that regard. In terms of knowledge, I only recently found him to be inexperienced when I brought up specific questions about LGBTQ+ related medicine/treatments, which he was unaware of (another reason why he wasn't a good fit for me). I understand that he may have limits to his knowledge of medicine--especially new medicine--but instead of trying to help me navigate those resources, he rushed me off of the phone and suggested I speak with an Infectious Disease Specialist. This doesn't align with my definition of a caring doctor. As a queer person of color, I would not recommend Dr. David Aaron to support you and your needs.

A thorough test, a real test for everything under the sun. When done they figured out how to fix the hearing aid and reprogrammed it. Then a retest for the relevant parts. Very scientific. I can't imagine a better outcome, highly recommend it, i mean it, Ron Leavitt is extremely knowledgeable, and so is his staff. Professional, personable. What more can one ask? They probably had a chance to profit more by encouraging me to get a newer hearing aid, but they did what was best for me. I am 81 and can hear again. Like i said, almost in tears I am joyful.

The doctor and technician offered that after a few minutes we could resume the test OR that I could go home and return to finish the test. Apparently I made the bad choice: I was not allowed for set another appointment. I returned the next day to try to schedule the hearing test. With advice from the back office technician, the receptionist was prompted on how to deal with me. They said the hearing test results were mailed to my primary care dr. Crazy--I am the patient and the doctor or technician should talk to ME. When I persevered with the staff to schedule a time to finish the hearing test and time to TALK TO ME. The technician came front to grudgingly agree to schedule "only one more appointment." I was granted an appointment 4 months out. When I contacted my primary dr. to get the results found at my first appointment she said that she had not received my audiology report, and if she had the results she would not be able to take action on them. Our best solution was to get a different referral and start over. I found my way to a great audiologist, fully worth the drive out of town. Makes me wonder how they stay in business?
