Entrance fees (when we went in fall 2012) for adults & kids 3-17yrs old: 9.20 pounds, Kids 2 yrs old: 7.60 pounds, and under 2 yrs old: free. Extra for the Pony rides and Tractor rides. Money well spent if you arrive early and stay as long as possible to maximize the expense. If you can only go for a short time, ask about the After school rate. We really loved the tractor ride (1.25 pounds per adult) - while it was a little hard to hear the narration (it was windy that day) we enjoyed the fun bumpy ride around the farm - They had some clever decoration in honor of the Halloween season. Little Hoppington area is ADORABLE: the animal village for animal handling, goat milking and various bunnies in their own "houses" that you can feed. So cute! And the adults turned into kids once we got on the giant slide. They even have a cute little gift shop which stocks kids Wellies/rain boots for 15 pounds. (no entrance fee to enter the Gift shop) PLUS: the food they served at the Old Barn Tearoom (you can eat there without paying entrance fee) was shockingly delicious. Most places like this have mediocre food. I thought this place gave generously portioned and well priced meals: My hubby, 3 yr old son and I shared a Shepherd's Pie, the kids mac and cheese (came with salad on the side) scone w/ jam & clotted cream, and a Ribena drink for less than 10 pounds. However it is not just the picking and the size of the PYO farm that makes this place amazing but its the people that run the farm too. It is family run and they are always every so friendly and welcoming. They are such a popular PYO farm that they even have coach loads of people come along to PYO. When there is no fruit / veg to pick in winter they have boot fairs. However all year round they do have a small farm shop / hut that you can buy produce from such as veg, honey, eggs, cream etc.

don't rely on the map for directions- look them up on the farms website…read more I have to state now, that i am a volunteer for the woodlands farm trust and have been for the last 5 years, so my apologies if this contravenes qypes t's and c's! the woodlands farm trust is a charity run by volunteers, and open to the public. they have quite a lot of animals, mainly sheep and cows. i find this farm extremely well run, and there is always something to do. if you fancy volunteering and getting a little dirty, then go down and give it a try. it's an ideal place for the family, as well as school visits. the woodlands farm trust also has open days, but check the website for further info. its free to get in, but the farm actually relies on donations, so please give genorously!

Great family day out!…read more Huge space with fun areas for kids of all ages: sandpits, ride-on tractor yard, bouncy castles, duck racing, falconry, flying fox and more. The cafe and restaurant have an ok selection of food, but there are plenty of spots indoors and out where you can set up a bit of a picnic if you BYO. The annual membership is good value if you live close by, we seem to end up here at least twice a week.

However it's probably just as densely populated with animals, including ponies, pigs, sheep and goats. The have hen coops where you are allowed to feed bread to the chickens, and a pond which has several species of duck and some rare geese. It's all very pretty and clean, though the cats ignore visitors and I couldn't blame them. Several visiting kids were going on about 'scaring the cats away', right in front of their smiling parents. What's that about? You've got to wonder if some people deserve places like this Being larger than the average city farm they can go a little further with the animals They have a shire horse, a very unfriendly turkey who was not happy with anyone coming near his domain, ferrets (not visible when I visited) peacocks and a kookaburra. You don't see one of them on a farm every day! Definitely recommended if you are in the area.

The farm itself is set out very well as soon as you enter you are greeted by a pen of goats and sheep, they look very well looked after. They also have pigs, chickens, horses, ponies and ducks to name but a few. They have special days during the summer when they have kids days out, I think they do face painting etc. Dont just pass this little attraction, go to it today, it is well worth a visit!

I was very impressed to know this even existed. We got a chance to feed all the animals and clean their pens (the less glamorous bit). Oh where oh where do I start?…read more Paradise. Honest. Nothing could be more refreshing for the spirit than to spend an afternoon looking at comical rare breed chickens with enormous polkadot mohican/judge's wig hairdos, fat delicious looking pigs with obscenely massive yawns and rabbits which are just, you know, lovely. Soft and that. Who's weekend would not be improved by stroking a huge fluffy llama, tickling a baby cow or patting the teddybearish head of a silly great big sheep? All the better if feeling hungover and cranky. I have a thing for goats, and there are 3 types here, so happydays. You can pet their utterly mad old/young heads, laugh endlessly at their antics and feed them grass pellets (50p a bag). There's a petting zoo type yard with a cafe, education centre, stables,and a riding school, set within a lovely little green park, where the other (best) animals look happy in their fields. If, like me, you're a fan of nature/city juxtapositions in one sweeping view, you'll appreciate the cool weirdness of being in what feels like the countryside, and spotting Canary Wharf blinking behind the Llama that you are feeding. I felt very smug and clever when I guessed that somewhere this big and well resourced had to have been sponsored by all the big banks etc when Canary Wharf was developed, and sure enough, a plaque in the yard confirms it. When you've had your fill of fluffy, bristly, absurd, feathered and oinking creatures, head to the cafe. Staffed by volunteers, there are always several fresh cakes on offer, all the usual hot drinks and a few wholesome lunch options such as pancakes with cheese and spinach and tomato and basil pasta. The cafe is littered with newspapers, sofas, children's toys and softly glowing vintage lamps. It's boho/shabby chic, probably organic and contains some very well dressed toddlers and parents, but not in a twatty way at all. Cosy enough to flop off your shoes, curl up and read a paper on a cold winter's afternoon. When we were last there I had still-hot-from-the-oven scones, cream and jam. Oh my. If I sound evangelical about this that is because I am, it is brilliant, and you must go.

If your lucky you can stroke or hold them too. There are several excellent playgrounds for children of different ages. There's a soft play area as well. Other animals include, huskies, horses, ponies, meerkats, tortoises, turkeys, snakes and more. You also get to ride on a tractor to a nearby cow milking barn (Sorry don't know the correct terminology). It's quite educational for kids. There's quite a large cafe here too. All in all it's a good day out. I personally think that it's pretty expensive. £35 plus for a family of four would definitely make me think twice before coming back.

There was a nice selection of vegetarian options- we especially loved the pasta with pesto and grilled vegetables and the burrata salad with grilled fennel, eggplant, zucchini, and Hackney greens. It was a refreshing break from sightseeing on a hot summer day. I would 100% recommend this to friends and family if in the Hackney area. Very fun to see the farm animals, too!
