My husband and I signed up for Allie's printmaking workshop and had a blast in her beautiful studio right on the Hudson river. Allie started with explaining some of the history of printmaking and gave us creative instruction, before giving us plenty of time to be creative and play with the paints. We walked away with some pieces we were seriously proud of - really great experience for the price. Hope she adds more classes soon!

The studio is well equipped with clay (red and white), tools, and glazes. I have a shelf for on-going projects. It is spotlessly clean unlike so many dusty pottery studios. The turn around time for firing is much faster than many other studios. I highly recommend.

I knew about Victoria Wolfe from YouTube and her books (https://youtu.be/WIML1WOCZG0), but did not realize that she also designs fabrics and templates to make her quilts (https://vfwquilts.com/). The store is small, but beautifully organized. The prices are reasonable. I got a 2 Template Hexagon set for only $15. The clerk was very knowledgeable, and grew up in a hand-Quilting Tennessee family and really knew her products! The store is on the 8th floor of an office building, and recently moved from suite #811 to a bigger location in #803. A lovely shop by creatives for creatives…read more Loved this store! It made me want to buy everything because it was all displayed so beautifully. Walking into the store immediately it's clear that the owners are artists themselves with a discerning eye for colors, textures, and design compositions. They sell a variety of art supplies and stationary and also hold art classes. The product displays included not only the products themselves but also samples of art that could be created with them. Mini pages of dabbled watercolors lent an air of inspiration with their translucent ombré tones. Dried flowers and twigs, bright warm-shades of fall leaves brought nature into the store and made prime still life subject matter. You could tell the owners put a lot of creative energy and passion into this space. Though I didn't have much direct interaction with the staff, I overheard them helping other customers and providing recommendations. Definitely recommend stopping by in Cold Spring.

Went to visit this store during the Warwick Apple Festival and was met with extremely poor service…read moreand an unexpected surcharge on my purchase. We browsed the store for a bit and found 2 pieces to purchase. Nothing massively expensive or large, the bill total was around $500, so it also wasn't exactly a tiny amount. Once we had finished browsing, we requested to pay and were left standing around waiting. One of the salespersons asked us if we wanted to see anything and we replied there were two items behind the desk we had chosen and we just wanted to pay. We were met with a blank stare and I don't think she actually heard us. Meanwhile the salesperson who had been assisting us was walking around the store asking if anyone needed help, as we stood there clearly within her view by the register waiting to pay. The other person went into the back and the woman who had helped us select our pieces proceeded to help someone else and even ring her her $95 purchase as we continued to stand there waiting to check out. Then finally she retrieved our pieces and proceeded to ring us up. When I saw the total, I asked if there was some additional tax outside of the normal Orange County 8.125% tax as the bill was higher than expected. I was then told there is a surcharge for credit card payments....after my card had already been swiped and approved! So basically this store charged me an additional 4% on top of the sales price without notifying me or asking if I preferred to pay cash to avoid the fee. I was also told that 'this is normal and happens everywhere.' Are you kidding me? Last time I checked, it is ILLEGAL to do this without CLEAR SIGNAGE posted at the point of payment. I did not see any clear signs and only saw this AFTER I PAID on my receipt. Frankly that is incredibly shady, poor business and just plain wrong. It's not a massive amount of money, but it's the principle of the matter. I left with a very bad taste in my mouth and will be sure to spread the word locally to friends and family as this is not ok and would recommend they keep walking to the competition down the street for equally nice pieces with fair business practices. Oh and to add further insult to injury, looking at their site to place orders, there is no 'credit card surcharge' listed. Absolutely horrendous.
