My husband finally got around to finding us Orange Park Dental Professionals, who accepted our dental insurance. Am I glad "he" did the leg work and selected this high tech, advanced servicing, dental office. Oh My Goodness, talk about Professional, Pleasant, Personable and a truly caring practice. From the moment I arrived I was met with smiling faces (cutely dressed in 'elf shirts' for Christmas I might add). The fact that my service time was spent from beginning to end being well taken care of by the entire staff and Dr. McClure was due to having already completed their dental forms online-"technology at its best"-and time better served on my services while in the office! Kelly not only got me taken care of with a very much needed cleaning, but Dr. McClure took care of a necessary tooth service clearly explained to him by Rachel who took my x-rays (of which, not 1 gum sore from holding that little rubber thingy in my mouth). They worked me in with Lindsay, my hygienist (the most delightful, and cheery personality you could hope to have working in your mouth). She was so very attentive with the application of my preventative treatment suggested by the doctor. Wow! I was, am and will always be thoroughly impressed with the high level of service and warm environment this dental office exudes! I mean, "come on", who likes to go to the dentist? Not too many of us, but if there were more offices like this one, I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't even think twice about getting their teeth examined and worked on. The front desk is very welcoming, professional, and courteous. My teenage son was first seen for a cleaning and consultation for several extractions. The hygienist was amazing. I let her know my concerns and she was very understanding. She made sure that my son knew all of the consequences for not taking care of his teeth. She is amazing! I am terrible with names but I do believe her name was April. If I am wrong please forgive me. He later saw Dr. Scales for fillings and teeth extractions he had zero complications or complaints. His mind was at ease and he was told what was being done and what to expect every step of the way. As I waited in the waiting area they made sure to let me know how he was doing a couple times throughout the procedure. Afterwards, Again I am terrible with names, the young lady with beautiful red hair, was very thorough with the after care instructions I was confident in what needed to be done at home. I had a very small filling fall out and they were able to make an appointment for me quickly. Before my appointment I had a bigger filling fall out, they got me in and were able to assess the problem and do a temporary fix until my appointment and made sure I was not in pain over the weekend. I saw Dr. Moreno and he was amazing. His staff put my mind at ease, as I have a fear of the numbing shots. I did not even feel the shots or anything else during the entire procedure. They made my crown the same day, so I did not have to get a temporary crown and take more time off of work for another appointment to get the permanent crown. Again I am bad with names, this young lady is from Kentucky, and she made sure my crown was perfect. Her and Dr. Moreno made sure that all of my concerns and questions were addressed before I went home. The young ladies at the counter when you leave are great as well. They have always addressed any questions I had. I know there are some behind the scenes people whom I have never met but they answer the phone when I call and they are amazing. They always explain everything to me and make sure I completely understand before we hang up. As I stated earlier they made appointments for me very quickly when needed, even called me if there was a cancellation so I could be seen sooner. I am extremely disappointed with this dental office. After completing my Invisalign treatment and…read morepreparing to have a new front tooth placed, I received a letter from Dr. Scales stating that they would no longer provide me with dental care, with no explanation. The Invisalign treatment was something I wanted to do before replacing my front tooth. The dentist did not recommend Invisalign to me. However, when I brought it up, he agreed that it would be best to complete Invisalign before having the front tooth replaced. Based on those discussions, I understood that I would return to the practice to complete my treatment and have the new front tooth placed after finishing Invisalign. During my regular dental cleanings, I was seen by three different hygienists. On more than one occasion, I was told that a hygienist had left the practice, only to later find out that they were still working there. Receiving conflicting information multiple times made it difficult to trust what I was being told. What makes this situation especially confusing is that during my last visit, before I received the letter, the office asked whether I was ready to move forward with replacing my front tooth. I explained that I was saving money and hoped to proceed in January. Based on that conversation, I believed my treatment would continue as planned. Instead, shortly afterward, I received a letter stating that they would no longer provide treatment. Looking back, I will say that sometimes things happen for a reason. Although this experience was frustrating and disappointing, it ultimately led me to find a new dental office that is modern, state-of-the-art, and able to provide all of my dental care in one location. They also accept my insurance, which eliminates the need to pay out of pocket for treatment. My advice to others is to do a little research and explore all available options. There are many excellent providers in the area who offer outstanding care, clear communication, and are in-network with major insurance plans. I am thankful that this experience led me to a practice that better meets my needs and provides the level of service I was looking for. As for Island Dentistry, I wish them the best of luck moving forward.
