Went back for a refund and the employees there tried arguing with me that the food was fine. I ask for my money back and was told they can't help me. Extremely unprofessional place. 10/10 do not recommend this place of business.. tried this business twice, ended with disappointment both times. 1st trip, we arrived around 6-6:30pm to a closed restaurant with no sign stating the were closed or closing early. 2nd trip we arrived at 7:30/7:40pm, there were 2 males and 1 female employee. the female was sitting at the counter on her phone, one male behind the counter cooking while the other served the only other table sitting in store.. we sat while he was helping that table (that hasn't even gotten food to the table yet) and about 5 minutes later, the same male employee came over to the table and stated that they "would be in about 15 minutes, so they were not taking anymore tables". There's not a lot of options nearby, unless you want fast food, but be prepared to wait about 40 minutes at this place. My kid and husband liked their food. This restaurant is really awful. We have ordered DoorDash a couple times, and the orders were always wrong. We try to eating inside the restaurant And t wo times we have had to walkout. We went on a Saturday afternoon in July at 5:30pm, after being in the area to visit World of Sports! The restaurant from the outside looked deserted. Upon arriving, Two individuals were inside behind the counter. One female and one male. There were two cars at the drive thru window! The female was packing a bag with "to-go" boxes! We were outside ready to go in! My brother pulled the door and it was locked still no reaction from the female inside. We looked for a sign saying they were closed but there was none! Not even a hand written note! Being there is a glass side of the building, the female was facing us and were facing her! My brother knocked on the glass door and she mouthed " we're closed!" And continued stuffing the bag! We were extremely surprised they were closed. The reviews on yelp and maybe google are old but they are still true!! Horrible! I was in town about two weeks ago and went to the Huddle House with a friend (May 13). I will not be returning. It reaps of filth and a 95% incompetent staff. The young man who serviced our table was the only friendly, competent one there. I remember his last name was Jones. There appeared to be no one in charge. Each time I looked over in the kitchen from where we sat, the staff were running over to the back exit, out of site of customers. I could see them huddled doing something. They took their time, servicing tables, and cleaning the nasty kitchen floor. The cook, if that's what you could call him, cooked my requested very soft scrambled eggs 3 times before he happened upon it. He screamed and said it's the last time I'm cooking these eggs. He was mean and unprofessional. Thank goodness no children were in the dining hall. Trying to be funny with the last time cooking them, he got it right. They were finally soft. The floors remained greasing and sticky the whole time we were there. The dining hall floors were really sticky. The windows and door entrance were disgusting, and everything needed dusting. Although the staff stood around looking at each other, no one tried to clean the place. Towards the end of breakfast, one employee passed our table several times to assist some teenagers who came in. Wow, wow, wow, I think I got a direct contact high from the marijuana odor on his person. The health department and upper huddle house management have a major problem there. The place needs to be shut down once again. I will never return to such a pig pen of a restaurant. Btw, I couldn't eat the other items on my plate that were cold. My sister and I stopped in today for breakfast today. We were informed that it was only two people working therefore it would be a wait No problem. The problem is after sitting there patiently with no menu and no drink order. In the meantime two white women walk in. They are informed that a table would have to be cleaned and they would be seated shortly. Not only was the table cleaned in a short time but they received menus and drink orders as well. Pleasantly pleased. Our waiter apologized right off the bat because he was filling in. Normally he was the dishwasher. Even though he was not familiar with the menu, he was very attentive and everything came out just as ordered. We had a garden omelette and a bacon and cheese omelette. There were several dirty tables when we walked in. Only a couple cleaned places to sit. Looked like they had a bunch of people leave all at once and hadn't got a chance to clean. No problem. Took 30 minutes for them to take our order. There seemed to be only one waiter, a cook, and a guy in the back washing dishes. The waiter was overwhelmed. The cook was socializing with people at the bar. The guy in the back saw how overwhelmed the waiter was and came out to help clean and give coffee. He asked if anyone told us there was a long wait. The answer was no. There was no communication from the other employees other than to take our order. We watched at least six groups get up and leave while we were there. Food sat under the warmers for at least 30-45 minutes. All together we were sitting for and hour and 45 minutes, almost two hours. All we got was coffee. Worst service I have ever received. I had to request silverware. I ordered steak and eggs but they also are out of A1!!! I was advised by the manager they would have A1 tomorrow.......that helped me how?? My friend and I visited the South Boston, Virginia Huddle House location today on June 24, 2017. Now, granted this location has just reopened and it was lunch time on a Saturday, but waiting a whole hour for our food to be served is completely unacceptable. We almost walked out and left. The staff were very unattentive and not very apologetic at all for the extremely slow service. When my friend and I asked for for them to cut our bills in half for having to wait an hour, the staff's manager was rude and passive aggressive in her comments and refused to do so. We both told them we will never be back. Flies were everywhere, too. It is a shame, too, because the food was actually good and they have lost two good local tippers already for good!! read more

The service was terrible all around. There has been past nights where they were closed because they were out of so many products. How can you run a business with no product?? Also, tonight. We ordered pretty simple things and it still wasn't worth the money not one bit. The scrambled eggs were not done, the ranch was disgusting, and the salad was unbelievable. I ordered a chicken strip salad, it came with ONE strip!!!!! For $8 I think not... My fiancé also, had ordered a fried egg, fried well. The yolk was not popped and it was jelled in the middle, so basically a runny egg which wasn't what her order was. The waitress barley comes to see if you need anything. A hour hour and a half just about and we only got offered one refill. The tables were not wiped when we sat down either. We didn't even receive all our food at once but in parts. This place needs a proper staff and they need to be properly trained. We will not return and honestly don't understand why anyone would bother with this establishment anyway. #disappointed read more

I took my kids out for breakfast for the new year. It was not busy at all. There were two tables of two, and a man waiting on a to go order. Only one cook and one server. The service was AWFUL! We waited 15 minutes before even receiving menus! Then we had to wait forever to get our drinks. It was so uncomfortable watching people come in, sit down, and leave because they were not even being acknowledged!! I have been a server for many years, and I have never seen such terrible service. they literally acted like they did not see the customers. One woman was so angry because she was getting ignored she left cursing. without any food of course. The server was mumbling under her breath complaining multiple times.
