I took a moment to notice the large vintage film projector they had by the door, and the clean, modern, rather dark decor of the place. I won't fault them for any of that. She seated me and asked what I'd like to drink. I asked what they had, and when they said they had Coke products, I asked for a Coke Zero, as I'm watching my calories and sugar. They didn't have Coke Zero, and the only thing they had without sugar was Diet Coke (which they were out of). When they said they were out of Diet Coke, I asked my server what they had to drink that didn't have sugar. . .she got a puzzled look on her face, stared at me for a few seconds like that was a bizarre request, and then said water. She said she was going to go check, she went back and asked someone in the kitchen and confirmed that's it. Water. No other diet drink. No unsweetened tea. On that note, I got up and left. I figured that was a bad start to a meal and the attitude I dealt with in even asking discouraged me even more. If you were here looking to be calorie-conscious (or watching your sugar intake) with what you drank, they didn't have anything for you. . .and even asking got me some funny looks.

No, I wasn't full, but it was absolutely the worst and flatest hamburger I've ever had. Ditto my wife. If the meat is real they need to change vendors. The lettuce was limp and soggy, the buns were not properly cooked, and there was no delineation in tastes. It was just nasty. They had no air conditioning, which I admit could have been a one-off, but they did have a large fan that made it difficult to hear the girl at the counter. My recommendation to management is to get quality ingredients, learn how to properly make a shake, and raise your prices accordingly. I would gladly pay twice what I did for quality food. Price is not the primary criterion.

We haven't been inside to see the seating arrangement however, we called ahead and placed the order and paid over the phone. The salads were LOADED with chicken, burgers were dressed, and corn nuggets were sweet and great. They even gave us extra condiments as we requested and napkins. Half of the fast food restaurants these days don't even get the order right, nor do they give napkins. This is a really good local restaurant that I have zero negative things to say about. We enjoy supporting local businesses and you will not be hungry after finishing your meal. They don't short you on anything. The food is filling and doesn't seem as processed and chalked full of chemicals like most of the fast food restaurants that run the monopoly's that they have. Sometimes it can be hard to find a good local restaurant but that is not the case with Burger Shack. The convenience of the drive through is great especially when you have multiple kids and don't want to get out to run in to pay/pick up your order. I'm sure we will be back relatively soon. My family which consists of my wife and I, and three kids (12, 5, and 3 years of age) went on a Sunday after church and the place was pretty busy. We had to wait 10 minutes to get a booth which wasn't bad, and it took about 20 minutes to get our food. The only real complaint I have was that it took a while to get our chips and salsa and even longer to get a refill. We were all hungry and with the kids, having more chips and salsa would have been nice. Maybe next time for a party of our size or larger bring out two orders of chips and salsa the first time.
