When my sister told my young daughters that there was snow in the forecast for Christmas in Blue…read moreRidge, my Beach Babies begged to spend the weekend in the mountains with my family so that they could see snow for the first time. We packed up Christmas and checked into our cabin on December 23 around 415pm, unloaded all of our things and settled in for the bad weather forecasted ahead. Around 515pm on December 24, the family dog alerted us to a fire on the front porch, along the (locked) garage wall. The next 15 minutes are a blur of trying to put out the fire, find our exact location for 911 and finally realizing that we were in trouble and couldn't get out of the burning cabin. God is good, and we were able to escape safely, with only 2nd degree burns and a couple of very traumatized little girls. My car was parked in front of the house and was destroyed by the fire, along with all of our belongings and Christmas presents that were left behind. To date, Vacasa has yet to return my numerous calls regarding the fire or communicate with me regarding my losses. VRBO advised that Vacasa would refund the charges for Dec 24-25 because we were not able to stay those nights. Vacasa has not refunded that charge. Vacasa has also not covered the additional hotel charge we incurred on Christmas Eve, after we had to evacuate the property. Lindsay, from the local office in Ellijay GA contacted me directly after she was made aware of the fire and assured me that she would handle the situation and be in communication with our next steps. For 2 weeks she assured me she would provide the info as soon as she had it. One week there was an appraiser and she would get the info. The next week the appraiser hadn't been assigned. The third week following the fire, she stopped communicating. Vacasa customer service made note of all of these things, multiple times, and promised someone from another department would be in touch with me, although it is "against company policy" to share what department or contact info for such. My wallet and Samsung watch were recovered and given directly to Lindsay to return to me, although she failed to mention it when we discussed my concern for my missing wallet. Upon being informed that she was given my belongings, I contacted her with the information and asked her directly if she had my things. Fortunately, she "remembered" she did and agreed to over-night them to me. For 2 weeks she said she sent them, but couldn't tell me which service she used or provide tracking info. The 3rd week, she stopped communicating. When the sheriff's office got involved, they gave her 24hrs to "find" the postage receipt. Less than an hour later she produced my wallet and watch with the explanation that while looking for the receipt, she "found it and thought it had been sent already". I reported all of this to one of the call center reps at Vacasa, again, although I don't anticipate hearing from them.

This was a horrible experience…read more I booked Blue Creek through Airbnb on January 29th. They approved my application same day. On Airbnb I stated that I was a student booking for a senior trip and there would be two chaperones. I did not see a minimum age booking requirement on Airbnb when booking so I booked. When I booked on Airbnb they asked for my id and I sent that in as I booked. Again, they approved same day. My trip was booked for March 13th-March 17th. On March 5th I got an email from Airbnb that they cancelled my reservation. No email from them as to why. I then called there office. The lady on the phone told me I had to be 29 years old to book. She then asked if I had any 29 years olds staying with us, because this was a school sponsored trip we did. She told me I could have one of them book it and it would be a problem. I had to them have one of the chaperones book on their website, because Airbnb blocked them from booking another person that weekend because they cancelled us so close to our date. We booked a different cabin on their website that we thought was nicer. Our chaperone booked this cabin on March 5th. On March 7th we got an email that our reservation was canceled and if we tried to book again they would contact the authorities. I was severely thrown off and confused as to what the issue was. I called them and no one answered. I left a voicemail telling them I was confused as to what happened and asking them to call me back. I then got a text message that was very passive aggressive and unprofessional. They also charged us a $100 cancellation fee when they cancelled on us! I then called them today March 10th, and spoke with the property manager, asking what happened and asking for the fee back. The guy on the phone was rude and unprofessional. He told us that the majority of people staying in the cabin needed to be over 29. (No where on their website does it say that). He then said he didn't want kids "throwing parties" at his multi million dollar properties. No parties were going to be thrown. It was a school sponsored trip with chaperones staying in the house with us. He did not care what we had to say and was very rude and unprofessional. Overall, this experience was horrible. The customer service was horrendous and their way of handling things was disgusting. We ended up getting our cancellation fee back as well as full refunds. Do not book this company they do not care!!

They don't post less than stellar reviews on their website . When they responded to my review on VRBO ( who i booked with) they basically said sorry, not our fault, hate that happened but thanks for vacationing with us. There are many reputable companies out there to book with so save yourself the trouble of paying for something Bluecreek either can't or won't deliver and look elsewhere.

We stayed in cabin 1 and our friends stayed in cabin 4 for a week. I agree with other reviewers that there is a great deal of peace and tranquility at this country location. The view of the grass area and mountains is incredible. I also agree that the owner is kind. There was plenty of room and the price was very reasonable. Everything to to make meals was there with the curious exception of silverware. There were exactly 2 forks spoons and knives. When we had our friends join us for meals they and to bring their silverware. The television was modern and lots of streaming channels to view when we wanted. Regarding internet, the property's internet was nonexistent for the first 3 days and then worked occassionally after that. None of our devices could connect very long. Curiously the Fire TV worked well the whole time. However there are several things which at first glance appear wonderful, but ....Upon initial opening of the door there was a pretty severe smell to the cabin - maybe mold. I just figured it needed to be opened up, but if you are sensitive you would have to turn around and leave. As I walked into the bedroom area I brushed against the log wall. I turned around in the bathroom and noticed my black top was covered in dust all along my side. I went to the kitchen sink for a glass of water and noticed the thick dust and then my eyes went up to the three quarter wall. The numerous silk plants were covered in cobwebs and dust. I noticed the smell from the kitchen sink and took up the right side drainer to find a thick ring of mold down the drain. Then I went to the bathroom area shower and noticed black/green mold all along the shower enclosure. There were dirty footprints all in the shower stall. Thinking I was staying here a week I couldn't deal with it. I spent about 2.5 -3 hours cleaning all of the curved log walls and dusting all of the bric a brac. Anything that I couldn't wash like the plants went outside on the porch for the rest of the week. I found some cleaning products inside and luckily there were plenty. I also bought a bottle of bleach and used the whole quart. The lampshades were covered in some stains and dust very thick. They really need replacing. The upholstered furniture is extremely worn and I suppose that is why there are throws on them. But the throws are just as old. There was all sorts of hair on one of them, not sure if it was human or animal. Additionally we found our bed to be severely firm. While this is normally a problem we went and bought a mattress topper that made it comfortable for the rest of the stay. After a few days we also found so that many things in the cottage were broken, including several vertical blinds, the lamp on the bedside attached to the wall didn't have a switch - broken off. A lamp for makeup didn't have a lightbulb. But it didn't matter because when plugged in it didn't work anyway. The large oval rug had a huge hole in it at the seam that caught my heel and iI almost fell. The cottages come equipped with gas fireplaces for the winter BUT THERE ARE NO SMOKE DETECTORS. I notified the owner on the first night of our stay and they were never provided. Our friend's cabin was just as unclean as ours. I didn't say anything to my friends and they had exactly the same reactions and observations as us. There is a game room in the front of the red barn that had lots of full size table games in it including air hockey, a billard table, a couple of slot type machines, and a foosball table. These are all in good working order. Unfortunately this room was just as broken down as parts of our cottage. It too DESPERATELY needed cleaning and repair of the pin ball machines and the juke box. It could be a fantastic place to hang out. There were also some video type games, but they were in disarray all over the floor so I don't know if they worked or not. I believe these cottages were very comfortable at one point in time, however they have really gone to disrepair and maintenance. With some infusion of investment and TLC and updates they could once again gain their luster.

We had a lovely fall weekend at this little one room cabin. It is secluded, but not remote. We…read moreenjoyed our stay and would stay again, but now we know what to bring and what to expect. The cabin is cutely decorated. First, the road up to the cabin is not for a sport car, nor even a regular sedan. This time of year there was 6 inches of leaves, so it was difficult to know where the gravel road was. I am a bit frustrated when I rent a vacation rental and find things not working, or broken, etc. I believe it is up to the cleaning crew to check everything. In this cabin the doorknob leading to the screened patio was not working properly. It was loose so it would not unlatch the door. The screen was locked so you could not get into the screened patio! We worked on it until we got it to open, but it did not open every time. The light in the kitchen was out. There is not enough light anyway, so this made the kitchen very dim. The lights in the main room were so bright I felt like we were in a football stadium. A dimmer on those lights would be really great. The TV is small by most TV's today and the distance the sofa or bed is from the TV makes it difficult to see. Not there to watch much TV anyway. There could have been more towels, for the kitchen and the bath. There is no dishwasher, so you have to wash dishes. There was one dish towel and one scrubber and a tiny bottle of watered down dish soap that we used up and resorted to hand soap. The dishes were not really clean. But I understood why, with not enough soap, and having to wash up everything before leaving, people aren't as careful as normal. There was a beer stein in the freezer that had a spot of beer left in it. (this was typical of most the eating utensils. I noticed most the dishes were not really clean. But with little and poor quality soap it is understandable.) The oven is dirty and smells like old oil each time we turned it on. The first time I looked for a pan to cook with all I found was one wok-type of pan and a crock pot with not lid. After looking in every cabinet I found the cookware in the back of a corner cupboard that is the hardest to get to and you can't see it in. I moved all the cookware to the cupboard by the stove, where it is used. The cookware was awful, the "non-stick" surface was either gone or peeling off. Didn't want to use those for health reasons. There were no wine glasses, but 2 corkscrews! Ironic! There is a hot tub, but we saw algae in it so we would not get in it. But there are not enough towels to use anyway. I'm glad we brought extra blankets as the lightweight ones there would not have kept us warm. A bit better quality control of checking things would be a good start. A few good quality cookware pans would be good also. My suggestion is to take cookware, towels, blankets and wine glasses. Make sure you are in a truck or SUV and enjoy the seclusion.

I was worried it might be too small, but it was just right! I stayed in the loft bedroom's king sized bed and my friend stayed on the queen sized sleeper sofa downstairs. We had perfect timing and got to see the leaves changing color and enjoy the cool weather (being from South Florida these are both unusual!) We cooked some of our meals at the cabin in the well-stocked kitchen. There is a full fridge, stove/oven and a full set of dishes, glasses, cooking utensils and silverware. It got cold enough that we made hot apple cider and lit the wood burning fireplace. It was also nice to have the hot tub to soak in after a day out on the town in the cold. The nearby town of Helen is an adorable Bavarian Alpine Village with great little shops and restaurants. We also drove to nearby Dahlonega to check out the shops and artists there. We were able to go horseback riding at the Sunburst Stables in Clarkesville and we also took a trip to the North Georgia Zoo in Cleveland - I highly recommend both! I can't wait to come back in the summer to enjoy some more outdoor activities like tubing on the Chattahoochee River or boating on Unicoi Lake at Unicoi State Park.
