We had a very shaky toilet that another plumber "fixed" 5 months prior. Mike got down to the bottom of the problem and gave me updates on what he was finding every step of the way. There were some major issues that needed to be fixed and Mike did not take any shortcuts, he was very transparent from start to finish. Our flange was rotted and Mike removed the broken flange put in a new flange set in concrete. He put in a new toilet and sealed it with silicone. I sent photos of my issues to Rick the manager. (My house is old from the 1930s and very tricky). Rick sent Daniel, a highly experienced pro plumber. I showed Daniel what needed to be done. New faucet for the kitchen and I also needed a new master valve for the water coming in to the house along with replacing some additional old valves in the basement. The secretary took my message and said she would call back; I received no callback. At 2:00 PM an older man arrived at my home unannounced. He inspected the job for about five minutes, then handed me an invoice for $175. I told him I had not been informed there would be a charge and that their website advertises free estimates; he responded loudly and rudely and demanded payment. When I refused he threatened me -- saying I would "be sorry" if I didn't pay he kept repeating the fact that I would be sorry so what are you going to do are you going to pay me now ???? I said no I don't think I have to pay you because no fee was ever disclosed to me please call your secretary and ask her she never mentioned a fee ....but He refused I tried to reason with him but he kept on threatening me. So he continued to threaten me, and that he would report me to the town for alleged illegal construction if I didn't pay him. I said go ahead so he left. I then called the office to speak to the secretary as I am panicked I said what is going on why is he asking me to pay him and why is he threatening me ?... I said what kind of business are you running ????... this is crazy....and she said oh well I don't know what conversation you guys had .... And so why did you let him in? I said because he was on my door and I was not expecting him. I was caught off guard you never called me to tell me that he was coming and or that there was a charge so you better have a talk with him and He just threatened me . She said she would talk to him when he got back to the office. Afterwards I was completely shocked and traumatized of this whole incident and of this man ... I tried to forget about it all and move on from this but then a week later had a town inspector visit (after a complaint from this plumber); there was no construction and the inspector found nothing. I was completely shocked that he actually did call and the threat that he made was actually true. So what else is he capable of? I was thinking. What kind of a businessman goes around threatening people???... what a despicable human being I thought I have never in my life encountered somebody like him. Only then I I felt the need to warn others about him and tell my story and experience with person and this is why I'm leaving this review To help others . I called Consumer Affairs and I was told there's no license on file for him and that he also has another complaint against him I was like wow this isn't his first time doing this?... I felt so frightened and taken advantage of, especially being home alone. I reported the incident to Consumer Affairs and am considering filing a police report. I do not recommend this business. Be careful who let into your house especially if you are a woman and home alone.
