Before signing at the hub please take the time to read my review and to do some research. Recently hub residents received an email that the pool/hot tub/roof is said to open on Memorial Day when everybody has already gone home, which I find extremely ridiculous. As we have gotten to use these so-called "amenities" two months out of the full 12 this year. I understand that there's regulations and guidelines that you have to follow from the city. But I also find it very ridiculous what the hub chooses to work on. Earlier in the semester we were told that we can't go up to the roof because they were remodeling it and fixing the tiles. Which should've been done before residence even moved in. The hub staff also went back and forth, telling the residence's one day that the pool and hot tub were open and the next day they were closed. The hub is also too busy upgrading things that people don't really care about such as the grills and cabanas and an expensive coffee machine, When those things arnt the problem, and people just want to sit on the rooftop. I find it a huge problem that the hubs biggest selling point is the rooftop. And we didn't even get to use it for more than 3 months. As the weather got colder, people expected to be able to go use the hot tubs. But unfortunately the hot tubs broke. And we weren't allowed to go into the roof at all. I'm also questioning why the residents last year didn't have these same problems and got to use these same amenities most of the year. Along w other places such as landmark and Hannah lofts that don't seem to have these problems. Their residents are currently enjoying there roof top, and there amenities. So I'm not fully understanding why other locations are not facing these same problems? While living at the Hub there's also been many other problems. Whether it's the Wi-Fi going out when people are trying to take tests and trying to do their homework. when they have guidelines to meet. Keeping in mind. The building is full of college students. While living at the hub I have had the worst wifi that I have ever had in my entire life. It is continuously cutting in and out. Making it hard to do my homework, sending texts or even when trying to call my mom. Here are many of the things that the hub residents have had to deal with the year: - [ ] Having no water and power multiple times. - [ ] the sauna exploding - [ ] the garage not working - [ ] people getting trapped in elevators - [ ] Elevators not working - [ ] auto pay getting messed up - [ ] no wipes in the gym/ unsanitary in the gym - [ ] utility bills that are out of the roof - [ ] the tvs not working on the roof - [ ] dirty floors/lobby for most of the year - [ ] my apartment was given to me in terrible condition. The floors were black.and there was mold in my washing machine - [ ] The hub asking for peoples bank username and password in order to pay a bill?! - [ ] people getting forced to live somewhere else untill December. When they were promised to move in October. Forcing them to pay the hubs prices monthly. - [ ] Unsafe parking conditions - [ ] No public parking - [ ] Cardboard on the floor for months I'm also not happy that when I first moved into the hub. I was not shown my real room. I was shown the best suite with the best view. The hub website doesn't even provide dimensions of the rooms that you will be staying in. When I walked into my bed room/apartment for the first time. I was in complete shock to how small my room was. I couldn't believe that I was going to pay $840 a month to be trapped in a small box. The only selling point for the hub right now is the location. The experience over all has not been great. For the amount of money that everyone pays To live here...In comparison to the amount of problems we have ALL had to deal with. it's honestly been a joke. uninformed staff that gives misleading information in order to make more money any way they can. not clean and always dusty. the landmark and abbots are way better choices if you want to live in an actual clean and friendly environment. their pool is always closed due to some 'unforeseeable circumstances' with lots of maintenance issues in each and every room. be careful and don't fall for their 'amenities' and glorified instagram feed. read more

I would not recommend the hub to anyone. It has truly been a nightmare from start to finish. - garage door was left open for months so that your "private" spot could be taken by someone else and then you had to be responsible for the tow truck (calling etc). The hub then tells residents to take another persons spot in the meantime - no guest parking - cardboard on the floors for months and when they finally got rid of the cardboard, they never vacuumed until April/May - roof is never open, they want to charge you $250 if you loose a plastic wrist band - trash all over the floors and spilling out of garbage bins for days if not weeks - an assistant manager openly tells people that she doesn't trust the staff - walls are paper thin so you can hear everyone around you - elevators go out at least once a week if not more -wifi is absolutely awful. It will connect to other units that you never signed into making it even slower - the utility bill is through the roof and is not consistent. Hub On Campus East Lansing - Basement Garage - University Housing Near Me - East Lansing, Michigan

I have lived here for 2 years and this has been my favorite part lace to live because of all the amenities they offer and the location.

Pros: - Great location for me - The pool is a plus (now that it's actually open sometimes) - The apartments are bright and relatively quiet - The 7-11 downstairs is a plus - I will give them credit for their response during the recent tragic events on campus. They were very supportive and provided extra treats for residents. Cons: - The price and cost of utilities are honestly outrageous - Most of the staff are students. They are generally (not always) inexperienced and unhelpful, and they can be extremely apathetic. - They no longer provide cable and do not allow you to purchase your own, even though the apartments are set up for cable. - The Internet is very spotty and often goes down for days at a time. I have had to vacate my apartment multiple times because, as a college student, I needed internet access. - The amenities are regularly broken and unavailable. This includes the coffee/hot drink machine, the pool table, the desks in the study area, and the hot tub. - At least one of the elevators is broken about half of the time. This is very frustrating if you have a disability or if you live on a higher floor where it is not realistic to walk all the way up all the time. - Parking is an absolute disaster. If you want your own parking spot it is well over $100 per month. A cheaper spot requires you to park "tandem" which is just an unrealistic nightmare for busy college students. - Common areas are regularly dirty or smelly (like rotten food/garbage). Hallways are regularly pretty gross, it is normal to see dust bunnies/hairballs along the baseboards, sticky spills, or dropped food that doesn't get cleaned up. - I'm not sure if this is a problem for others, but the floor and baseboards in my apartment are covered in some kind of tacky adhesive. It seems like it might be from tape or something they used to secure protective plastic to the floor during construction. these spots collect dust and no amount of scrubbing can get rid of the sticky residue. - Communication with management is subpar. - Regularly send maintenance to apartments for inspections without notifying tenants adequately. I was given just 38 minutes of notice that an inspection would be taking place. I should note that the maintenance workers are lovely people--my issue is with building management who think this is an acceptable amount of notice to enter my apartment. This was not for an emergency or to fix something that I addressed--just a regular inspection. read more

Super bad management, lost multiple packages when I was a tenant there people not helpful nor responsive. Overpriced utilities year long for a tiny studio as they average all apartment uses so doesn't matter your usage still gotta pay so much for utilities. So overpriced for how bad and shitty the management is and how unresponsive and unhelpful they are. Your money is better saved or spent elsewhere. The amenities are literally unavailable for use 3/4 of the year so paying so much for basically nothing. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We noted to the hub that we would do a sublease if someone wanted to because for the summer my brother wasn't really staying there. However, we hadn't moved out because we still paid rent and the place was still ours. The hub went to the apartment and threw everything in the trash (the bedding, the towels, the food, and literally everything). I walked in to check in and felt like he was robbed. I called and they said they threw everything away and offered us a gift card. Why wouldn't someone like call us and say hey your stuff is still here come and pick it up? Apparently someone is moving in next week but we were not told until we called. Awful, terrible management. Our important things are in the trash. I've never heard anyone doing this in my life. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. The worst customer service known to man. The girls at the front desk have high school educations at best. When I ask a question they say "I have absolutely no idea." I ask to talk to a manager and they say he's not there. The manager is busy. If the manager is doing something he feels is more important than speaking to customers, his priorities are out of order. Hub On Campus East Lansing has no wifi for extended periods of time, sometimes for days, and it happens at least once a week. No employees are ever held accountable for their problems or mistakes. I ask questions and they in fact give me false information that the manager told me later on was untrue. There is no visibility on my end because the employees have "absolutely no idea." Worst place you can choose to rent in the entire state of Michigan and your time at MSU, place has horrible service and they make you pay a lot of petty additional fees. You have to jump through so many hoops. For instance they make you have so many documents and updated additional information. By far the smallest and most expensive. I am very sad about how this complex has treated me. First off, not to pity myself, I did not get to have a freshman year (like many others too) because of covid. I'm not from the area so I decided to get a studio alone until I made friends to room with for the next year. The hub calls me two weeks before I go to college for the first time and they tell me my room had been destroyed by some fire with very few details explaining the situation. I did get to visit this building before I moved in and I think it is beautifully designed with great amenities. They gave me two options. 1. To keep my lease with them and be moved to the complete other side of campus for the same exact price ($1300 per month). I do appreciate that they were able to move me somewhere but this is a large corporation so they can at least give me a discount. No budge they made us pay the same price. Option 2 was to cancel my lease and try to find an apartment TWO WEEKS before school started when I've never been here and I have no friends. Obviously I took option 1, and I was promised over four times that I could move into the apartment I originally got "before Halloween". They also told me to check in at the wrong place when I was trying to move into the temporary apartment and they promised movers but never brought any here. They had terrible communication and barely told me anything up until I called the day before Halloween and they said I would be staying another month. They claimed they sent me an email but I never got one. But don't worry they brought me a cheap pizza to make up for the lies. Again multiple times they told me before thanksgiving and now it is "before December 31". I can use the pool and amenities but it's inconvenient, 35 minutes walking, and no parking options. So obviously I don't get to use the amenities very often. One of my favorites parts about them is the fact that they sent an email about the hot tubs being closed during the winter (the only amenity I was pumped about). So now I'm paying for amenities, not being able to use them, and being on the other side of town. They sent out a very bitchy message to the residents (because of complaints), that they would keep the hot tubs open but if they get cold and the pipes freeze and we don't tell them or forget to, say goodbye to our hot tubs. Like they can't send a worker to the roof to check the temperature a couple times a day, no it's up to us. I've also experienced some very rude staff and staff that has no idea what they're talking about. On top of all of this I went to the hub many times this semester to check on my room progress and my door is literally cracked open for any drunk kid to crash in my room. They finally got the toilet in and the workers have clearly been relieving themselves in my toilet. I am not being dramatic I promise this is all real. I do understand that there is a labor and supply chain problem right now so I do not blame them for taking so long to fix my room, it happens. I do however blame them for having absolutely terrible communication and making me pay the same price or booting me to the street. For anyone that had the time to read my book, let me tell you it is NOT WORTH the modern building and amenities. Apparently they're extremely stingy with the amenities anyways and they hardly let us use what we're paying for. I've obviously never rented before but this was a great first experience with asshole landlords I will now know to read reviews first. read more

STAY AWAY! This is by far and away the WORST apartment complex in East Lansing. Built to screw over students, residents and parents! What an absolute dump. I feel terrible for the poor kids who work here because the corporation that owns this place does not care about the safety, well being or care of its residents and I'm sure these kids have to hear it day in and day out! From the minute we moved our daughter into this shoebox, which was filthy (one year after it was built), until today when I had to pay their imagined 'cleaning' fees, this was a horrible experience! From heat and cooling that was impossible to use, to peeling walls and overall apathy of management, I cannot stress enough how strongly I feel you should NOT rent here!!!! read more

Definitely the worst apartment I have lived at in my 4 years at MSU. Overpriced, rude, and unprofessional. When I moved in, the floors and walls were super dusty, appliances didn't work, and it was incredibly loud. The cheapest apartment unit you can get starts at $550 per person and it has a shared bedroom and bathroom with no space to even walk around. You can have your own bedroom, bathroom, and parking spot included for the same price if you just move somewhere down abbott instead. Don't even get me started on the studios! They are so crammed you have no space to breathe. The kitchen and living room are one tiny room and everything feels super crammed. There is no separation of space of privacy if you have roommates. You can hear going on in this building it is super loud all the time. The location is the only good part about this place. It is walking distance to anywhere on campus but it is not safe at night. It is right off of grand river so it can be a bit sketchy walking by frats and bus stops to get home. You won't have free parking here they charge extra for that as well. You are better off living somewhere with free parking and just driving to campus. The amenities would be another plus but they would always close them randomly and not notify tenants. The study rooms are always packed and there is no way to reserve space. The gym is crowded. The rooftop has a great pool and amazing views but so many people who don't live there sneak in. If you only want the pool, it's not worth it to deal with the tiny living situation. Just make friends with someone who lives there and take advantage of the pool. While it may look new and modern, the lack of space and poor management ruin the experience. During this pandemic, you need the space to work and feel comfy at home, these units will not give you that. I wanted to move out the second I saw other places for the next year. Worst management ever! Brand new but so many issues. Bathrooms are terrible and smelly. Would never recommend this apartment unit

I will never recommend this building to anyone after my experience living here. The management is by far the most childish and unorganized within 50 miles. The pool remained open for barely 3 months in total, despite the heavy touring and advertising of the "luxurious" amenities when individuals sign here. Even better-- many people were notified 1 week before the beginning of the semester that their unit had been damaged, and their only two options were to move into an alternative building entirely (on the complete other side of the city) or cancel their lease entirely. The management then promised these people (myself included) that the units would be repaired swiftly and would be ready by October. This date then changed to November, and finally the end of December. We waited 4 months to move into our units. All while living somewhere entirely different and having to pay the rent for the Hub, which is already overpriced. Finally, once moved in, we were met with power outages, flooding from our dish washers, closed amenities (the pool being closed almost every week for some reason or another) and a shit show for a parking garage. This building is also made out of the worst materials one could buy at Home Depot. I can hear my neighbors from all directions and I can hear a pin drop in my apartment because the walls are so thin. The rooms are shoeboxes essentially, with some having views of air conditioners (or even better) a metal wall. Literally a blank metal wall. Some do have great views but it's few and far between. When signing, the staff tries to befriend you and create a sob story about how stressful working their is and how rude some tenants can be. But I promise you, living here would make the least confrontational person go insane by years end. It's seriously a joke of an establishment. Do not live here because of a rooftop pool. Befriend someone that lives here and use it then. There's other apartments around MSU that have similar if not better quality amenities than the Hub. I am not alone in my views as a handful of other tenants have and probably will express their opinions online, to other friends and fellow students looking for off-campus housing. I would guess that the majority of these people would tell others to ABSOLUTELY NOT live in the Hub on Campus unless they are loaded and can deal with an incredibly unprofessional staff.
