I have lived at University Edge now for 2 years, and I just wanted to leave them a good review, unlike EVERY OTHER review on here. And they haven't paid me, as some reviewers have said. First off, the wifi has gone out twice in all the time I've lived here, and it's been for 30 minutes max. I've had friends in nearby buildings not have wifi for days and university edge has never had that issue for me personally. Also complaining about the parking is CRAZYYY. It's literally free, who complains about something free? As far as I know, no one parks for free at their apartment building in East Lansing. As long as you follow the rules of the red cedar districts parking and uedge you will have no issues. I manage to get a spot 15 feet from apartment building door daily and have never gotten a ticket or barnacle on my car in again, my two years of living there. The management is super friendly and always willing to help. They have answered my questions every time, and are always super sweet. I have never had a single issue with my unit which, as far as I'm concerned is pretty fortunate for a college apartment. They take decent care of the building compared to its competitors. And for that I am giving them 5 stars because I have no clue what these other reviewers are talking about. Proud to say I live at University Edge :) read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE! I wish I could write about all the horrible things this apartment has put myself, my roommate, and other residents through but there is simply too much. Please listen to all these reviews when considering living here. Wifi has been horrible the entirety of my lease, it will go out and be out for days which has caused me to need to go to Starbucks simply to do homework and other remote activites. The amenities are not nearly as nice as they make it seem: for example- my roommate got a yeast infection from the pool!! The gym is small and there is a lack of study spaces considering they charge ridiculous amounts for not only rent but a bunch of hidden fees they don't warn you about and won't explain to you! Parking is ATROCIOUS- you will have to hike at least 5 mins to the lot in all weather conditions, parking is not covered so expect your car to get stuck in the snow since they hardly plow the lot too, and on top of that despite your car being registered to the apartment AND having parked there for months on end- you can still get towed!! I was towed for not having a sticker on my windshield and was told by the towing company that UEdge was CALLING THEM telling them to tow over 30 cars in the lot despite us being residents simply because we don't have a tiny sticker on our windshield even though our plate are registered!!! UEdge is all about money. My roommates and I requested to renew our lease (yes even despite all the issues we were willing to stay here out of convenience) BEFORE the lease deadline just to get rejected saying they had already filled our unit?!?! We contacted them and all we got as a response was "yes the unit is taken so if you wanted to live here you would need to move out just to move back in- ultimately requiring us to pay move out and move in fees along with the already ridiculous high rent." All of this to say DO NOT LIVE HERE. They are an endless money pit and have no remorse. Live ANYWHERE ELSE!!! read more

The Wi-Fi was down constantly. The walk to and from the parking lot is BRUTAL especially with all your groceries and laundry and parking was not free (had to pay a fee for that too) and the close by parking they would ticket constantly. Maintenance would fix things pretty quickly,l. Noise level is moderate especially in summer. Way too expensive for what it is. They charge you rent then add so many extra fees it's insane- ended up paying $150 extra each month. When I was thinking of signing the front office would call me multiple times a day (I asked them to stop) to ask if I was ready to sign. This is me being nit picky: The walls were always broken with holes and things were vandalized, they were quick to repair it but it didn't look great when inappropriate things were drawn all over the walls. Area around the building was nice but if you left it was not the greatest and I did not feel safe as a girl venturing too far. read more

One of the worst places you can rent on campus. Told several lies on a multitude of topics. They are going to nickel and dime you while providing a terrible living environment. Living here has been a constant downhill experience since I moved in. The only good aspect of living at University Edge is the maintenance team. I highly recommend avoiding this apartment complex. Management seems focused on squeezing college students for every dollar they can. Many of the "nice" features they show off during tours are regularly broken or out of service. They sell the place like it's luxury living, but once you sign the 12-month lease (which you can't break or sublease without a $1,000 fee), you're stuck. After you're locked in, the service and communication drop off completely. You're left paying high rent and extra fees that don't make much sense, and they no longer care. Take note: this is one of the only complexes in the area that doesn't fill up quickly, there's a reason for that. Even if you're in a last-minute scramble for housing, don't settle here. DO NOT RENT HERE, DO NOT RENT HERE Horrible nickel and diming fees each and every month, your emails will go unread with your concerns and when your student moves out you will incur a damage charge FOR NO DAMAGE. See attached and note that they each got charged $21.25 X4 students for this horrible damage. The monthly utility bills are not broken down, I had asked for this numerous times and said they would send AND NEVER DID! The charges for water and electricity are extremely high for a small apartment, and the last bill will be much higher than the highest month with NO explanation. My son said the parking lot is not safe, it is well over a 5-7 minute walk, motorcycles often get stolen, the internet (college kids may want to study in their rooms?) is not reliable and numerous times he had to go elsewhere to study. Packages are missing all of the time (even though they ding you for a monthly package fee), and god forbid you have to park up top for a few minutes, you will be issued a nice fat $100 ticket for your effort. This place is run by very greedy owners that will charge you extra whenever they can get away with it. Their rent is overpriced compared to other facilities in the area. I would highly recommend any student or parent to see the common theme in the reviews on this place. Wi-Fi for a college apartment complex that is not reliable when it is working and is often not working at all. Yet, you will have to pay for it. If you like birds, that will be a plus. Included in your $1000 per month rent is wild birds, that get into the dryer vents and poop all over your apartment and they make YOU clean everything up yourself. The utilities are also quite suspect. They bill you but you aren't allowed to see what the bill actually is. They expect you to just take their word for it. Paying your rent each month is always a hassle and they are quick to add a $100 late fee if you don't pay on time, but restrict the ways you're allowed to pay and the online portal works part time, or is a combination of the portal and the crappy ATT WiFi they "provide." Front office is rude, dishonest, and overall unhelpful. I would highly encourage you to do your research and look at reviews from this place in all the different sites. There is no way this place is worth the prices they charge. They prey on students and promise the world and the second you sign their lease, their attitude completely changes because they know you are stuck with them. AVOID AVOID AVOID. TOO many other options in better or equal conditions that you can choose from. There should be a class action lawsuit for the lack of WiFi and the suspect utility fees and other fees this place charges. read more

Be careful when signing your lease. When you move out they charge you Excessive Fees that are ridiculous.

My rating of University edge is a one star. If I could I would rate them a 0 Star. I would not recommend leasing from University Edge. When you move out they find some was to charge a cleaning fee. They wanted to charge us $300 to clean a micro wave that wasn't even dirty. They also charged $60 to clean one drawer in the refrigerator. Their customer service is absolutely horrible. Left 4 message concerning these charges and never got a return call. Continued to send bill for the charges but wouldn't return my calls. The parking is absolutley terrible. I could add a lot more but I will stop here. My recommendation is don't sign a lease with this apartment complex they are horrible. They are only about taking advantage of students and only care about their bottom line. read more

Terrible experience. The staff is completely useless, they don't know the answers to any simple questions and seem to always be too busy making tik toks to make time for their residents. Maintenance barely listens to you and most of the time won't fix the problem you called them for. We had broken elevators multiple times throughout the year and the most recent one has been broken for over a month including during times students were moving out and staff has no plans to fix it. A key fob to enter the building is the only safety measure taken, you do not need to scan anything to get up to the floors that have rooms on them and the front doors are glass so someone could easily break them and break into the building. They do not care about your packages, they will misplace them and not help you locate them or leave them outside for anyone to take. Besides the $980 regular rent and normal fees, you will also notice completely random fees the building adds that make no sense. The WIFI is always down and the hallways, elevators, and stairwells are always incredibly dirty. Students will pile up tickets because of the incredibly inconvenient parking and the individuals that come around every two hours to ticket residents. The gym that is provided always has broken equipment, there is only one working treadmill and once again the staff has no plans to fix it. If you're planning on living here, do not. University Edge is a terrible place to live - do not fill out an application. I would never recommend University Edge until they improve their management and parking situation. Management and leasing staff are unreliable. Many times you visit the office during office hours and they are not available. There have been a couple times when I tried to pay my rent on time, just to find that their portal was broken or that the portal system had changed. University Edge has switched management several times during my 1 year living at the apartment building, and it has caused so many problems. The staff dont know whats going on, and seem not to pay close attention resident needs. Parking situation is terrible. They allow their residents to get towed, and do not keep track of vehicle information. Additionally, the parking lot is poorly lit, and very dangerous for students to walk home at night. Due to the distance of resident parking, it will be difficult to avoid walking far, especially when coming back late at night. Depending on who you are male or female, this may be a problem. I spoke on the phone with someone from your office about my daughter's rent a month ago and I was not satisfied with the answer I received. My daughter received an offer valid until 02/28/2023 for $935 per month for renewal (we have a screenshot). We signed the contract on 02/16/2023 and received an increase from $810 to $965 per month. It makes no sense to me to pay more than a new customer when your company has not honored the offer they made. We have always paid on time and in advance for the past 9 months. They had me pay to apply for an apartment they showed me that was already taken, and then after I paid to do the application they informed me the apartment was taken and literally stopped answering my calls. If you care about your money, your son/daughter, or your mental health, DO NOT LIVE HERE. This might be a little long to read but it contains a lot of important information. I have lived here for 2 years. At first, it was ok, rent was pretty cheap ($810) for the location and how modern it is, and water was included in the rent. The only downside was that the parking lot was extremely far away. This summer, they got rid of their very good security team to hire someone for cheaper. For maybe a month they had no security and the parking lot was super unsafe, my friend and I almost got carjacked. Then, they added reserved parking spots in the already super distant parking lot, for $70 per month!! And they are adding more. The apartment complex nextdoor is charging $50 and their parking lot is right outside the building. They are also not covered and there have been car break ins in the lot. Water is no longer included in the rent and is VERY high for an apartment that size, my roommates and I were specifically careful with how much water we used yet it was still super high. I never had to interact with the leasing office staff until this year and I have never seen such incompetence in my life. Beware, if you are not planning on living with someone you know, they might place you in with someone that is a threat to your safety. As that is what happened to me and my roommates. We were placed with this person who had an unregistered pet in the apartment and was hiding it from the manager. This pet brought fleas into the apartment (from the path behind the building which is never mowed) and infested our pets with fleas, we had to pay for the damages. They violated their own lease. This person also had personal relationships with the maintenance worker, brought him into our apartment very often, drank with him (the roommate is underage, he isn't), he also showed inappropriate photos oh himself to my roommates. The manager, Jaime, stated he was no longer allowed into our apartment, yet he would be let in by my roommate late at night. I expressed my concerns to the manager about this issue. The roommate already had a personal vendetta against us, so we were scared. The maintenance worker had claimed that he had access to security cameras, keys to all apartments, and rooms. The manager and her assistant listened to my complaints but nothing was done. Another day, her assistant decided to talk about me and joke about my concerns with other employees, while I was in there!! Guess what? To my knowledge, they all still work there. My roommates and I would constantly be in the leasing office to tell the manager, Jaime, and the leasing manager, Aaron about these issues. Nothing was EVER done. The roommate had violated the lease an excessive amount of times and she was still allowed to live with us. The leasing manager, Aaron, told me and my roommates that he was scared to evict her because he had violated some rules regarding to how many pets he allowed in our apartment and because "she might throw him under the bus and get him fired". I have never felt so unsafe. The roommate was then transferred to another unit where she could hide the illegal pet comfortably. The manager continued to act like it is not an issue. The roommate also befriended the security staff and could park her boyfriend's vehicle in the courtyard, where anyone else would get towed. The maintenance worker slapped a towing sticker on my friend's car and called a tow truck while she was parked in retail , while getting tropical smoothie. There clearly are preferences here and I couldn't comfortably live in my OWN APARTMENT. I did a lease takeover, it took them over a week to properly process all the information. They had to send the lease 3 times because it was inaccurate, trying to charge the person moving into my room more money than me. I could not get in contact with the manager to talk to her about this and the other people working in the office are useless. read more

Horrible. It's actually comical that I'm living here and paying for the wifi and there is none. They're in a "legal battle" with AT&T and yet we're still paying for wifi. They'll give you knick knacks and think its all good, but there website has problems, they have been putting off fixing the wifi problem, and maintenence is just slow. They also charge $30 to have a guest visit. The walk from the parking lot is dangerous and there have been many break ins. The wifi is awful and cuts in and out. The leasing is office is often closed when they are supposed to be open which is frustrating when you need a package or a guest pass. Packages are also left in the middle of the lobby for anyone to grab. My roommates also got stuck in the elevator earlier this year for 3 hours until the fire department pulled them out. Do not give these people anymore money. The staff are so unfriendly and not helpful at all. The first week of living there I already had issues with management. The actual fire alarm kept going off in our UNIT, the loud asf one that means to get out. We called "24/7 hour" maintenance only to get told to sleep thru it until morning. They didn't even care to investigate an actual fire alarm. i got into a car totaling accident, went to retrieve another "free parking" sticker only to be told i'd get charged $50 for another one since i didn't have the old one. My front windshield was smashed?? Did not care at all, as that's "policy". Maggots all over the hallways for months. Parking is absolutely terrible and they love to tow your car the first chance they get. HORRIBLE wifi. This place should not have university in their name when university students cannot even do their work because the wifi is always out. I've had to leave my apt to go to the at 11pm so many nights. Roommates tires were stolen off her car in the parking lot and they did nothing since they don't have cameras. Bike was stolen from the leasing office lot, nothing done because they don't have cameras. even though they told me they did and to get a police report first. UEdge doesn't have it together. The trash room has been dirty since moving in, there's a ton of litter on the property, and there's been glass in the parking lot several times. The rooms are uneven and really small for what you pay in rent. And the wifi is especially terrible. It's been out every day this week for hours on end, plus several times before. I would rather pay to live on grand river at this point. Management hasn't been extremely helpful or communicative about the ongoing internet issue and is not compensating residents in any way. If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is horrible. The parking here is terrible, you have to walk so far outside to get to parking. Rent is already insanely expensive, and if you want a closer spot, which is not that much closer, it is extra. Everything looks nice but it is actually cheap and breaks with one touch. The wifi goes out every other day. The security is terrible and people break into cars all the time. The hotel next to us gave us a slip of paper telling us places that we can park closer, then when we parked closer my car got towed. If you have to bring groceries or anything inside, you either have to walk really far with all of your stuff or risk parking outside the leasing office. Chances are if you park outside the leasing office, you will get a $500 barnacle on your car. At one point I was walking a good 10 minutes from my car into my building. There's NEVER any peking and they bring tow trucks in every week to tow your car. This is the worst place to live in Lansing. The price for rent is no different than the landmark or the other and you're still far from campus. The parking is a joke it's 10 minutes to and from your car. Not to mention they lie about so much stuff. If you are reading reviews for this apartment complex and you see anything over three stars it's fake. Every single review that is five stars is all the leasing office people and their family and friends, leaving FAKE reviews about the service they've received from each other. We had so many issues in our apartment throughout the 2 years we lived there. The new maintenance guys are the only staff that will actually help you. No one in the office knows what they're doing and if no one answers and you get put through to an offsite person the office will never call you back. I mean NEVER. The Wi-Fi crashed more times than I can even remember sometimes even in the middle of quizzes and exams. Even when it was working, it was the slowest Internet I've ever had to deal with. would give zero stars if possible I would recommend not living here to any MSU student. Most of the employees in the office are great but the management doesn't care about the issues going on. I've been towed and gotten 3 flat tires due to loose nails being scattered around the parking lot by the construction people. On top of that I'm paying $93 dollars a month for electricity which is absolutely ridiculous. If you plan on having any privacy dont live here cause the sound proofing is horrendous I can hear my roommate shift around in his bed from my room. Horrible value for the location you get. I wish it was possible to rate this place 0 stars, for months now we have had no wifi along with elevators being broken and neither being fixed, it's not easy carrying grocery up five flights of stairs with the price I pay i would expect things to be working, door handles are constantly broken I have to walk around the entire building to find a door I can open, the people at the front desk are the most useless people ever, they never help when I need it every question their answer is we don't know. In order to get a guest parking pass it must be done online through a request which they never check, HOWEVER they still charge you without you even getting a pass basically you are charged for making a request that's $35. The parking lot is a lot farther than you may think from the building especially bc random people take up the majority of the parking spaces they also have refused to give multiple residents a parking pass so they have been ticketed multiples times even tho they are residents overall FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE lansing has many apartments for much cheaper that are cleaner and have more respectful staff read more
