If I could pick NO stars I would!…read more We hit a deer in the wee hours of the morning, and a patrolman ordered a tow truck before anyone assessed the damage to our truck. After it was apparent that we didn't need a tow, multiple people, including the patrolman called to cancel the tow. They did not answer their phone and so, proceeded to show up. When told that the services were not needed the driver then bullied us into paying him for gas. At first we refused and then he told us that if we didn't pay he would tow us anyway without our permission and that we would then have a bigger problem. We kept refusing and so he threw a fit and pretended that the patrolman could give him permission to tow our truck. The patrolman informed us after we paid (to avoid further problems), that it was in fact illegal for him to bully us into paying and that he would not have been able to tow us without our consent. Is bullying people who are obviously not in a good state of mind a good business practice? Don't think so. They should be ashamed of themselves, and maybe think about answering their phones once in a while.

My road trip began in Chicago Illinois, and meandered for almost 2,500 Miles through some of the most beautiful places in the country. As I was approaching Baker City, Oregon, I found out that my gas was low. As I approached the first gas station that I could find, I noticed my car was making a horrible noise and it just got louder. I turned off the car and filled up the tank. When I started up the engine, the noise was even louder. Upon looking under the hood, I found out that the serpentine belt was askew. I assessed that this was the cause of the noise. I checked at the automotive shop across the street. They had nothing to help me. I jumped to my phone to see where I could get a serpentine belt for my 2003 Volvo XC70 in a small town in SE Oregon. First was NAPA Auto Parts... nope. Then I tried Carquest. The guy I talked to there said that he would have to track down the part, but that he might know a guy who could fix it. He connected me with Bill Steele of East Side Diesel. Bill had been at the Carquest picking up a part for another job. He came over to where I was at, checked out my car. He informed me that not only was the belt bad, but that also another bearing was bad. He found both parts and replaced them within 2 hours from the moment that I first spoke with him. He did an amazing job and only charged $200 for parts and labor. I felt like this was very fair. After all of this, he then left to fix the previously mentioned job. I can not stress how wonderful my experience with Bill and East Side Diesel was. He has 5 star reviews because he is that great.

We called Fred and he suggested we drop in and charge up our battery before continuing on to Kennewick for a scheduled RV service appointment. Fred personally installed a new glass battery and we rigged up a connection from our generator to a trickle charger connected the new battery. We got to our appointment in good time to install a new alternator and the guys in Kennewick out the door by 5:00! Without Fred's help I might still be waiting an alternator until Monday!
