Located on the corner of Lord Street close to rival bank Natwest, Mcdonald's and the Liverpool One, this branch of HSBC is a rather large and modern bank and its' structure upon Liverpool city centre is impressive meaning it's somewhere you can't miss while in the city.
Considering joining HSBC, I called in this branch to have a look around, the store inside is quite large and it is over multiple floors with Premier banking on the upper floor, I presume they also use the other floors to open accounts with members, similar to the approach at my local branch at Manchester Spinningfields.
There was a large number of machines to do everyday banking which I liked both inside the bank and on the wall outside (meaning you can access them on Sundays and in evenings - basically whenever the bank is closed) including paying in and withdrawing money however in terms of service, I can't help but feel the branch was understaffed, with not many staff on the shop floor or at the counter, meaning waiting to be served taken significantly longer than average and that was even on a standard weekday when the bank wasn't too busy.
More information in terms of leaflets about accounts, rather than relying on online sources similar to the approach at other banks including Santander would be a nice addition too.
A nice large bank in Liverpool which alongside the new modern Natwest across the way is one of my favourite bank branches in the city, but it really does need to do more in the service departments and maybe adding some comfy chairs to relax and maybe do some online banking which a large number of banks seem to be doing now - but for now this is a decent, spacious nice branch, and impresses me as I tend to find HSBC branches a little old-fashioned so a three-star rating is warranted here, a rating which I feel disappointed to give but with speed and quality of service is poor, I sadly feel it deserves no higher. read more
