Just as good as the one in L.A. without the long ahh wait. Been here over 5 times already. Really wished they had a stand alone restaurant where we got that LA treatment as well, but this will do.

I have been eager to try this place because of the glowing reviews. I was a bit disappointed because it was not freshly cooked. There was a line but it went by quickly. The cashier was very knowledgeable and told us that they are spicier/hotter than Dave's hot chicken so we adjusted our spice level accordingly. The service was very quick but that also implies that the food was already made and was probably sitting out. The food temperature was lukewarm and it did not seem as fresh as what you would get Dave's Hot Chicken ( there weren't different layers of flavors either). That being said, the chicken was the star and it was clear. It was definitely more spicier than most chicken sandwich places, in a good way and the chicken tasted premium. We enjoyed the sandwich but we think that our rating would have been higher if the food was fresh that would have contributed to the flavors and heat more.

I remember waiting an hour at the original Howlin Rays in LA, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out this location opened in the Venetian food court. The wait is MUCH shorter here and the chicken just as good. The hot chicken sandwich here was massive and we were able to share between two people. Food court in the Venetian had popular national treasure, including Scarrs pizza from NYC.

As an east-coaster who is quite limited to a variety of regional restaurants, I was pleasantly surprised to find Howlin' Ray's located in the Via Via Food Hall in the Venetian! I've watched enough content creators to know what to get -- and most importantly "how" to get. NOTE: Prices will be higher as this is Vegas after all. For my meal I ordered several items: the Sando which came in at a whopping $17. I accompanied it with an order of shake fries ($6), a solo wing ($5), comeback sauce ($1) and a surprisingly lovely peach tea ($6). The total with tax came to about $37 and some change. (Oh, Vegas...) Spice level: Everything in medium. I have to say -- I enjoyed the entire meal. Of all the things I ordered, the sando was the clear winner. I was surprised how much I enjoyed all the flavors working together -- coleslaw, pickles, comeback sauce and the medium spice. The filet was about the size of a Popeyes chicken sandwich filet, nothing crazy. The wing was a bit disappointing. It had the same spice, but was cool to the touch. For a hot chicken spot, I was expecting the hot chicken to outshine the sandwich-- that was NOT the case. For this, I deduct one star. The fries were pleasantly seasoned, it was spiced but not exactly Cajun. The peach tea was the other winner of the evening, as it tasted like real BREWED southern sweet tea! I SEE YOU, Howlin' Ray's! Overall great experience, and glad to cross this place off my foodie bucket list! On to the next!

Smack your mama chicken! I was wrong about this spot, I walked by it many times thinking it would be a very average hot chicken that you see at any mall. Boy was I wrong. The wings were so frickin good! The flavor and seasoning was perfect, saltiness was on point, the crispness was light and airy. The chicken was so fresh and hot, I could barely eat it. Those fries were some of the best I've had in a long time. Crispy, tender on the inside, nice season. The Comeback sauce was honestly the best on I've ever tasted. Omg, I could not stop dipping the fries in it. I've had other comeback sauces, but this one had something in it that the others just don't compare. Overall, this is a legit chicken spot that is up there with the best of the best. Seriously!

Def go for the tenders. But the food is extremely salty no matter if you get medium or hot. Warning: Hot is actually pretty dangerous on an empty stomach; it'll hurt once it settles even if you think you can handle it with your mouth. I opted for just 1 hot tender (8/10 spice) and 2 medium (5/10 spice). Perfect balance for myself who tends to eat spice for every meal. Line was about 10 person long, but went by after 15 min. Food comes out quick ~10 minutes. Seating is in a cafeteria so there's usually a spot.

Finally got to try Howlin' Ray's! We've never gotten Howlin' Ray's in LA because the lines are just ridiculous. So when I learned they've got a spot in Vegas, I knew this was our chance. Sure enough, no lines whatsoever, same hot chicken sandwich. And it was indeed very good. Just not, "wait in line for more than half an hour" good.

Mild and medium tenders

The line isn't as bad as it is in LA. It goes by pretty quickly. I think for as much as they charge in general, the sauces should be free unless people are asking for hella sauces. The chicken is juicy I'll give them that. The seasoning is good if you're a seasoning wing type of person versus a sticky sauce type. That's where the divide is. Would I get it again, probably not but I'm glad I tried it. This is located in the Venetian food hall and they're open until midnight - I think. Typical food court vibes where you struggle finding a place to sit.

3 piece tender and fries.

My partner and I split a 3-piece tender and ordered fries and one of the sauces. It was our first time, so got one mild and 2 medium. The chicken is excellent. The meat is really moist and juicy and the thin coating, both mild and medium, were terrific. The fries were nice and crunchy on the outside and tender in the inside. The counter staff were friendly and helpful as I explained that it was our first time. The sauce doesn't do much for me, but it does have flavor. I've been to chicken places where the sauce is largely mayonnaise. This is better than that. I prefer Raisin' Canes sauce. It's in a food court near the casino. Can't say much about the atmosphere other than it is a decent food court.

(3.5/5) Despite being incredibly full from lunch, I trekked to Caesars food hall with a few friends to try their favourite french fry place - Howlin' Ray's. The branding is really endearing and I love that their french fry bag says "Have a hot day". I will say the french fries were definitely some of the crispiest and best seasoned fries I've ever had. The chicken tenders were spicy despite having chosen mild and very crispy on the outside, but moist on the inside. Honestly, there isn't much competition on my end especially coming from Canada where true Southern flavours don't have much presence. Despite not feeling hungry at all, I enjoyed the few bites I had and would love to return next time and try it with a full appetite.

This dip is not your ordinary ranch! Get 2! *TENNESSEE TANG*

Aahhhhh woooooo! *I'm howlin'* LOL The heat is ON! Wow. So let me tell you that the 1st time I was here, I ordered THE SANDO and opted for the MEDIUM which was described as "feel the burn." I can take heat and said next time, I'll order the next level up. For me, the sando was cool but I'll be choosing the TENDERS from now on. The 2nd time (2 days later), I ordered the TENDERS and whoa baby, those tendies are juicy and big! Easily shareable between 2 people. I leveled it up and opted for the HOT which is "burn, baby, burn"! And wow I felt the burn but IT WAS SO GOOD! You can cool it down by dipping it in their TENNESSEE TANG which is their version of a ranch and ooooohhhh it's so good! Not your average ranch! Get yourself 2 of them so you can also dip the seasoned SHAKE FRIES in it. I'm telling you, this all HIT! Each time, there was not much of a wait for service or food and the ladies who took my order were very nice.

One of my favorite chicken spots has a location in Vegas??? Absolutely sold. The line was a bit long but their service was fantastic and fast. I love the chicken sandos, hopefully you will too! They will warn you about the spice level and they are not joking! The first time I had X-Hot I was sweating profusely, but it was so good I had to come back everytime I see it around. If you're a hot chicken lover, do yourself a favor and grab one of these immediately!

Huge huge fan of howlin ray's! Love all the LA locations and now have added the Vegas location to that list. The food as always just hit right. The staff were super friendly and gave us the banana bread pudding for free since we patiently waited. It's in the foodhall so there are plenty of options but honestly love howlin to turn away from it. Lots of open seating so it's casual.

The prices of courser have gone up to an average of $25 a meal, but for that money you are getting a lot of food. The bone in ham breakfast is a poun Of ham. Add the potatoes, eggs, and toast and you better bring a friend. This is old school vegas and feels like it with booths and the servers outfits. Being Quiet enough to have a conversation, must have to do with the layout, because with that many people in most restaurants, you would not be able to hear each other. It's rather fascinating. The quality of the food... You are getting exactly what you're expecting. Well cooked and seasoned, great combinations, and quality meats why didn't I give it 5 stars. Because I have been to the Peppermill in Reno. It's a complete casino with the same great food, tables and better lighting I am not a fan of booths. However if you're not either, the Peppermill has an old fashion counter to sit at. Watch the symphony of cooks and servers doing the dance that makes the Peppermill a great place to eat.

But I just realized I never gave it a proper review, so here we go. From the outside, this looks like a restaurant from the '60s or '70s. Which I guess would be accurate since the peppermill has been around almost as long as Las Vegas. There is plenty of parking for sure, but I can imagine it gets crazy on the weekends. Walking inside the restaurant, the first thing you're agreeded with is several slot machines in the lobby, no big deal there, as most places have some sort of gaming. But walk up to the hostess area and you are greeted with pink and blue neon artificial trees and a whole whole plethora of colors you didn't know could be on a single restaurant. I'm not kidding, the peppermill looks like it could be the venue for a top-notch for Vegas 13 or if there was a stage. We were seated immediately and menus and Waters. Now I will forewarn you, I would say from a price standpoint this place is pricier than most restaurants. But let me tell you just the experience of being there is worth every penny. The food itself is over the top and huge portions. The ham, steak and eggs are delicious, and that ham steak covers almost the entire plate. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and they were perfection. Both of those meals came with a fresh baked muffin and let me say this was not a muffin that had been sitting around for 6 weeks. These were very fresh and very hot. Service here was really good, her waitress had the forethought to check in on us every once in awhile and not feel like she was hovering over us. Interesting side note, they have a dude walking around with a camera taking pictures and trying to sell you the photos afterward. The real magic is in the bar where they have a fire/water pit. I didn't post a picture on purpose because you have to go experience it for yourself and I did not want any spoilers. But definitely make a stop in the bar for a drink. The bottom line? This is a place you have to go. Whether you are a visitor in town or have been a Vegas local for a while. The peppermill is one of those places that you have to put on your must-see bucket list.

Many moons ago, some good friends and colleagues of mine in NYC (where it all started for Black…read moreTap) told me the first satellite of this cool place would be coming to Vegas at the Venetian property. It opened at the end of 2017, and I've been coming regularly from LA to Black Tap in LV for over eight years. Whether biz or pleasure (or both), it's a great place to go while you are in town. Now they have locations all over the world, a few of which I've been to; but Vegas is my favorite location of theirs by far. (But to be fair, I've never been to the OG in Soho!) Everything you see, taste, hear and feel at any Black Tap is fresh, fun and somehow eerily familiar. Good music. Good people. Great food. Great beer. Almost like a cool neighborhood tavern or favorite restaurant that you often go to in your own hometown. But not too cool or not too hip. Not snooty. Down to earth. Warm and welcoming. That all comes in handy whether you've had a good day or a bad day at the tables, or elsewhere, whatever reasons may bring you to Vegas. Having a good mood? It keeps you going. Having a bad day? It won't be any longer if you come here. It's a blast and rewarding every time you go no matter who you are or what you've been doing. The amazing ambience, aura, and positive vibes here are off the charts. It's really one of a kind in my experiences here. They've got legendary burgers that win awards and should win more. Outrageous shakes you can't find anywhere else. Wings that burst with unique flavors. Veggie options that raise the game. And, of course, a rotating seasonal beer list that focuses on local craft beers in the area. Over the years at Black Tap in Vegas the servers, bartenders, hosts and other staff come and go -- just like they do at any other place. But Black Tap management (and founders/owners) knew a good thing when they created it, and wisely wanted to keep it going with their basic mission intact. They've more than succeeded IMO. So many places in Vegas come and go. Some don't even last a year. But Black Tap in Vegas is going on 9 years now with no signs of stopping. If anything it keeps getting better. As evidence of that ongoing mission of Black Tap, and keeping things up to their standards, and fun, and relevant, rather than just resting on its laurels or name recognition, their managers certainly know who to hire as staff this special place. They somehow always get the right people to work here. Not had bad experience ever here in Vegas. For example, a relatively new bartender (Brianna) on my last visit here a couple weeks ago (for lunch this time) handled a crowded bar like she'd been working at Black Tap for years. Bars get busy. Patrons want service. Customers aren't always the most patient. Regardless, she handled a demanding lunchtime crowd, including me, with such charming personality, skill, and hard work. She was truly grace under pressure. My glasses were never empty. My plates had what they were supposed to. And all tasted awesome as you come to expect once you come here -- all with the positive mood, vibes and overall atmosphere you come here to enjoy. That's what you get when you go to Black Tap in Vegas, whenever you go. Thanks for keeping it going Brianna! And thank you to the entire Black Tap team there in Vegas. See you all again soon... and for those of you out there who still haven't been here at least once already, you now know where you should go for burgers, beers, shakes, and beyond. You're welcome. ;)
