Meet the Coronas! Mr Loper, Mrs Hedger and rose trimmer. I love my Coronas. Mr Loper and I have been together for over 20 years. Lately I've been pretty brutal to them, even cutting shrub roots. It was time for a tune up and Hower's had great reviews. His shop is his home. Basically he has a drop box in front of his garage to leave your items in. Then when promised which was next day for me, you pick them out of the box and leave your payment. The sharpening looks good and I intend to enjoy my Coronas now even more! read more

My kitchen knives get heavy use, and I haven't had them sharpened in a minute. The last spot I went to, used to do a. Good job, but in recent months has not. In fact they even damaged one of my blades. I found Howers thru yelp. The process was super easy and the price is reasonable. I dropped off my knives and picked them up a few hours later. They came back super sharp. So happy. Nic is great. Easy to work with and easy to communicate with. read more

Nic rocks!! I don't think my kitchen knives have ever been sharper. After a fairly disappointing sharpening experience at a mall knife store, and after reading all the great reviews, I decided to give Hower's a try. I contacted Nic through Yelp and we made an appointment for me to bring my knives by. When I got there he took a look at what I had and quizzed me on how we use the knives so he could determine the best sharpening angle for each one. Then he got to work and within about 20 minutes all eight of my knives were sharp again. I didn't realize that he is also a knife dealer and ended up buying a new 8-in chef's knife from him as well. The next time my knives are dull, or I need a new tool, I will gladly make the drive from Moreno valley to Nic's! read more

My daughter got a new knife set and gave me her old dull blades. I asked for a quote thru Yelp. Got a few responses and chose Hower's Shears. He's got a mobile service but I drove out to him because I was headed out to see my son in Corona anyway. Very fair price, 5 knives were sharpened within 20 min and are BETTER than new. WOW!! Very SHARP! How sharp? Well, you wouldn't even know if you accidentally sliced yourself. (Yes,that kind of sharp) No, I didn't have any accidents, but, do be careful. I now look forward to chopping onions, slicing tomatoes and carving the roast. It's ... Effortless! I recommend Hower's Shears. read more

I met Nic at the ISSE show a few years ago and when I found out he had his own mobile shear sharpening just an hour and half away I was so excited! I live out of the Coachella valley and I've had Nic sharpening my shears for a few years now. He does a great job and really takes proper care of my shears. As a hairstylist we invest a lot of money with our tools so finding someone who can carefully and properly can sharpen my shears is very important. I've notice that consistency is key. He's willing to travel from Temecula to the valley to sharpen shears for me and my coworkers which is very helpful when you need your scissors same day. Thanks again Nic! read more

Nic Howe's is an outstanding friend, family man and Coach. Nic also happens to be an amazing "know and Shear" man. Most recently Nic brought a broken tipped knife back to life. Nick gave the knife a Sheep's foot (I believe that's it) blade. My favorite every day carry is back in my pocket! On top of that Nic sells some amazing quality new knives. I purchased an @civiviknife Praxis. Beautiful flipper knife. Thanks @nic_h81 read more

Asked Nic to sharpen my kitchen cutlery and he did a fantastic job. My knifes were in pretty bad shape as me and my roommate would attempt to sharpen them after a few Coors Lights, big mistake. Nic straightened and sharpened them in a timely manner and these bad boys cut through everything like butter, including human flesh, don't worry, it was minor. Very happy with the results!! I'll be going to Nic for all my knife needs. Awesome job Hower! read more

I previously had my knife sharpened in a neighboring town and they killed the blade. Pressing too hard and gauging the sides of the edge. I saw Nic on Murrieta Hot Springs. I called him up to see about sharpening my Benchmade pocketknife and he gladly came to me and put a near factory edge on my blade and serviced it as well. Absolutely amazing work. He was taught this craft by watching his dad who has sharpened blades for 30 years! That's an art right there. An art that is truly hard to find these days. Nic. I appreciate you and the work you did. You're a true artist!! read more

I rarely leave reviews unless I really feel the service provided to me was exceptional, which in this case it was. I called Hower's two days ago in a real panic over a very expensive knife that my son accidentally damaged, that belongs to my father. Not only was he kind, down to earth and empathetic about my situation when I called, he offered to fix it for me -that night- after work hours. Talk about service! Not only did he repair the knife to completely new condition, it looks and cuts better than it did when it was first purchased. He ended up sharpening 17 more knives for my Dad, and a pair of shears. They all look gorgeous! Unbelievable skill set he has. Truly talented, and so thoroughly pleased with how it all worked out. Thank you so much!!! read more

I've been trying to find a new scissor sharpener for my dog grooming scissors and am so glad. I finally found Nic! The last person who I paid to sharpen my scissors sharpened them incorrectly and they weren't working right and Nic resharpened them and now they are working like new again. He also recommended a few other shears that I might like and so I bought them and am extremely happy with those as well. He comes to your house (I live in San Diego) and charges more than other sharpeners I've tried, but you definitely get what you pay for! I can spend less time scissoring now, and my work looks seemless. Thanks Nic! read more

Nic is literally the best!!! I have never found a sharpener for my grooming shears that truly knew what they were doing, and I have had SO MANY horror stories with other sharpeners who have completely ruined my equipment and then blamed it on me. He comes to my work and sharpens mine and the other girls in the shops shears as well. I recommend him to all my grooming friends. read more
