Awesome job. I haven't been satisfied with the shop I have been using getting my Henkel's Pro line knives as sharp as they were when we bought them. The prior guy got them sharp, but not so sharp that you cut your finger just by looking at them (if you've even owned Henkel's (not Henkel's international)) you know what I mean. I dropped them off to Mr Larson about two months ago and had them sharpened. He had them ready later that day. I just finished cutting some tomatoes today (two months after he sharpened them ) and they can still slice one without squirting the guts of the tomato out... with daily tune ups on the steel edge maintainer, of course. So I am delighted. He got them much sharper than the other shop. I'm still looking for my albino unicorn of "factory edge", but he got it 95% of the way there. The prior guy was like 60%. That should tell you everything you need to know right there. I swear by Henkel's knives and now I swear by Mr Larsons skills. read more

WARNING, this guy completely ruined my $1200. knife..brought in my knife for a simple edge touch up, he gave it back a complete mess, and he also hit both sides of the blade plunge with his belt or wheel or whatever this joke uses, I gave it back to clean up..another big mistake, this time he took 1/2" of the length of the blade and had absolutely no tip left..the entire edge was rounded over and flat, I have pictures to prove it..gonna take this joke to small claims court as the knife cannot be fixed, was told by 2 others there is no way to fix the knife and they have never seen such a hack job..Run don't walk away from this guy. read more

I'm happy that I found Neil Larson Sharpener. His prices are very reasonable and his service is fast. I used to go to a store in Clairemont, they usually take a month and sometimes longer. My husband took 2 expensive knives to Neil. One was a Shun chef knife whose blade edge had a defect, and we weren't sure how it had happened. We were afraid that it could not be repaired. But thankfully he brought the knife back to its original condition! You cannot even see where the damaged place once was. The other knife was a Wusthof, and he also did a fine job sharpening that one. The turnaround time was 1 day, which is important when the item being repaired is something you use every day.
