REGULAR LOADED CHICKEN FRIES
Benjamin L.

Someone come take out this fire. As I walk around the corner, I could smell the wonderful fried chicken from outside drawing me into and making my mouth water. The restaurant had an open concept with big windows letting in the natural light. The environment creates a young trendy place to enjoy a quick and wonderful meal. I order the Texas Toast Sammie medium and my friend ordered a regular loaded chicken fries mild. The chicken was juicy and huge. Inside the sandwich there was a slaw, pickles, and their special sauce. I got the medium flavor and it was perfect for me. The cashier was new and was very friendly. She was learning but had a smile on her face. She worked quickly to get in our orders and we end up getting our food shortly after.

HOWDY SAMMIE sandwich. Delicious.

My family and I were craving hot chicken sandwiches, and Howdy's Hot Chicken came up in our search. I read other reviews about the best level of heat to order for the sandwich, and it seemed like either the Howlin' or Heat Up levels were good, and the Have Mercy is too hot and intolerable. So, I ordered Howdie Sammie sandwiches for my family via GrubHub. We got our sandwich orders on time, which was great. Customer service was minimal, though. I ordered the Heat Up (Medium) Howdie Sammie sandwich, and I thought it was spicy enough without compromising the flavor of the chicken sandwich. I have to say this was a quality sandwich. The chicken was lightly battered, well seasoned, not salty, and juicy. The pickles and coleslaw added just the right amount of tang and freshness to balance out the sandwich. The brioche bun held up pretty well to the ingredients too. My family enjoyed their Howlin' (Hot) level sandwich. They were able to handle the spice and still enjoy their sandwiches. My only complaint was it's expensive at $12 for just the sandwich. I think if they included fries and a drink as part of a meal, that would've been better. I can't justify coming here too often because of the expense. Other than that, it's a great sandwich worth trying out.

I was recommended this place by my cousin and it was on point. I happened to be in the Sugarland area and decided to have lunch here as this restaurant is about 45 minutes away from my place. Restaurant is relatively small In size. Covid restrictions were in place as masks were required upon entrance. I actually opted for a pick up. I just ordered the Sammie sandwich, with a level 4 spice. They have a total of five levels and perhaps on my subsequent visit, I am going to try level five which is categorized/ labeled as "have mercy" The sandwich itself was delicious. It was packed with coleslaw and a gigantic chicken breast seasoned and fried to perfection. The buns were also soft and flavorful. There menu is small with about 4 main items. This chicken sandwich can also be served with Texas toasts. I plan on visiting them soon again.

Cashier named Toni is more focused on her show on her phone and eating than actually seeing customers walk in the building. Twice customers came inside and she didn't even bother to look up until we were at the counter just waiting. Coughing and rarely covering mouth. If it was for the gentleman that is cooking my food in most cases would have walked out. There has to be things that should be taken care of but clearly this young lady does not care for this job. Restock the water, clean tables, through empty boxes out, wipe down soda machine. The dude had to scream the young ladies name just to get her attention to get food to hand to me. Will not be returning at all.

REGULAR MAC N CHICK

TLDR: Howdy Hot... maybe not. Service: 5.1/10 They take your order in a straight forward manner... that's it. No welcome, small talk, or even general hospitality in tone of voice. Food: 6.2/10 Ordered the Mac N Chick and just wasn't amazed by anything to be honest. For starters, roughly a third of the macaroni elbows were dried out and incredibly chewy. Almost like a stale fruit roll up texture. The chicken (Heat Up/Medium) had a pleasant level of spice, but the batter didn't adhere so well to the meat. The spiciness was however, well balanced by the bread and butter pickles and slaw. Not much more to write about here. It was aight...

Have been hearing of this place and how wonderful it is. Decided to grab a quick bite, and it is definitely worth the hype. The vibes inside of the restaurant are super southern hip. The food spoke for itself. The chicken was rated by spice level, and different ways it was prepared. I was so excited to find a piece of toast at the bottom of the fries and chicken. Definitely worth the drive and money for this delicious, mouth watering chicken.

Not your traditional wet hot chicken sandwich.Chicken it's good, VERY GOOD. It's more of a dry rub/breading with All the seasonings and desired level of heat in it. The coleslaw inside the sandwich adds a sweet taste that helps balance the heat. Their level of heat it's stronger than most places. Ordered a mild level Sandwich and was hotter than a regular mild anywhere else and so was the medium. The sandwich is big however $13 for a sandwich seems a bit high in my opinion.

Texas toast sammie, mild $9.99 (3/5)- good but prefer Mico's- huge, fat, juicy, crispy breast. Howdy's- thinner & not as crispy or flavorful
Diana N.

It was good but I was starving. Not sure if I'd return tbh (considered a cheat meal and I don't know if I'd use it on this). TEXAS TOAST SAMMIE $9.99- i asked the cashier if she preferred this or the regular Howdy Sammie, she said the Texas Toast. I thought it was good but not life changing. I've had Mico's in the Heights, and I have to say Mico's is better. The chicken here is thinner (Mico's is a huge, fat, juicy, crispy breast!), parts of it was a bit tough to bite off (stringy?), the fried batter was falling off & wasn't that crispy, and the chicken itself wasn't that flavorful besides being mildly spicy (got mild, but I probably could've tolerated medium). The coleslaw definitely added flavor, so that was good. The toast seemed average to me. It's a pretty filling sandwich, but Mico's is way thicker and costs the same. They were semi busy on a Saturday at 7pm, mostly take-out orders, however dine-in was available. They are really efficient though, and it only took 6 minutes for my sandwich.

Food was exceptionally bland. Chicken was hot, but it was very tough. The only thing that was OK was the fries. Mac & cheese looks pleasing but had no flavor.

Medium Howdy sammies!

This place is good!! I feel like I have been a hot chicken snob only because I had Dave's in LA and was comparing every hot chicken sandwich to that. Well this place shut me up. Howdy's is worth the hype! Both times I have gone- I got the medium howdy sandwich. It is over loaded with coleslaw, which makes the sandwich a bit soggy quick- but it's delicious and goes well with the spice!! The second time I went I added cheese on my sandwich, and it was a GAME CHANGER!!! I liked it much better, and the medium is the perfect amount of spice with the cheese. My fiancé is a wimp and thought the medium was too much, so if you can't tolerate spice get the mild hehe. I'm really glad Sugar Land has a great option for hot chicken! Oh the Mac and cheese is also really tasty as well!! Definitely check them out if you're ever in the area :)

Howlin Howdy Sammie
Maiah Asiel D.

I've been to so many Nashville chicken places and so when I leave a review, it's because I really know what I'm talking about lol. Flavor: chicken was tender and was well seasoned! So flavorful! Breading was intact lol (when you've been to other places, you'll know what I'm talking about). Spice level: true to its spice level. When I ordered the Howlin sammie, they warned me that the extra hot is an actual 10. I should've listened lol. I always get the spiciest, if not, the second spiciest level which in this case was the Howlin level. I was wrong! Medium was definitely the spice level that works best for me, had to step it down a little. Couldn't finish the Howlin sammie, it was too spicy for me Service: way faster than most places and the service was great! Everyone was so polite and we didn't have to wait a long time for our food! Other items: Mac N Cheese- it was good, I wasn't like "wow" but it's not disappointing, it's Mac N Cheese lol Fries - they were okay, they weren't seasoned as I expected but yeah, it's a regular taste of a waffle fry Coleslaw: I'm not really a coleslaw person, but it was pretty good that I ordered it as a side when I came back the second time Sauce: sauce was good, no complaints

Kristy S.

You can't call in your order but you can walk-in and order at the counter. I went Wednesday at 6pm, no one was there. I ordered waffle fries and a Howlin howdy for me and the have mercy for my husband who brags how he can handle extreme spicy. Yeah have mercy is bitter and extremely spicy. Not recommended. So spicy neither of us could finish it. $9 in the trash. My gums burn from where I bit into the have mercy. The Howlin was a good spicy level for me. Keep a glass of milk handy. And maybe Pepcid.

Robert J.

I am hoping this is a one off as all other pics and reviews have looked so good and sauced. Ours were tough and dry, bread not toasted. You can see from the bread how dry it was, breading not sticking. Ate at a odd hour. Perhaps been sitting? Did not want to be all negative. The Howlin Sauce was spicy. Somewhere around Wing Stop Atomic sauce. Very good. Wife said Hello was spicy to her.

It's tucked away in a new strip of shops and restaurants near the Chuy's and the Cornelius Nursery. The restaurant is cute and spacious and the staff is friendly and attentive without being annoying. The music is a little loud, but not too bad. The food is fantastic. I ordered my three favorites, paad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and massaman curry, hoping at least one would be good. To my surprise, all the were excellent. I ordered the creme brunette for dessert, and it was sublime. The texture was velvety and the caramelization crunchy and tasted like roasted marshmallows. It's served warm, which is different than I'm used to, but it works. I highly recommend this café. I was the only customer at 3 pm, when I arrived, but people began showing up closer to 4 pm. The interior felt sticky and unkept, which is a shame because this is not an old spot by any means and Telfair is a pretty nice community. The legs of the tables were rusted over and the plastic of the chairs were chipped. There were cobwebs on the walls. It just felt like the place has not been well maintained. When we ordered, the cashier never showed or told me my order back and just gave me the total price, expecting me to tap my card. Hearing that our order for 4 people was over $60, the price sounded high to me for the prices listed on the overhead TV menus. Come to find out there was a markup on the loaded fries I ordered that was not reflected on the display. When I asked her about it, she nonchalantly said "Oh yeah the price is higher". My first thought was, hey it's a digital menu, how hard is that to change? Secondly, the attitude in response to how my order broke down was definitely not one of good customer service. I also asked how spicy the chili ranch sauce was that came with the avocado burger since my 6 year-old was ordering it and she assured me it was not spicy. We ended up having to wait over half an hour for our food. Turned out the avocado burger had some sort of chopped peppers throughout the spread and my son couldn't even eat a bite. The biryani was also extremely spicy. I like spicy food as much as the next, but the biryani was hot fire coming out the chute, and there was a lot "chuting" from the family after this meal. Needless to say, we won't be returning anytime soon. Which is too bad, because I want to support local, ethnic foods and honestly, I like the taste of the food.
