I never write reviews, but thought my experience might help somebody…read more.. I had to find myself a doctor for a chalazion that would not heal. Ended up going to Dr. Kornstein. Very professional and gentle. No wait times and he healed my eye. So happy I went to this office. I went a total of 3 visits, the last one being for a general eye exam. He also mentioned while I was with him that he does emergency surgery at Westchester Medical Center. This guy knows his stuff and you will be in good hands.

Dr. Kornstein came into the office twice after hours (once at 10pm when the pain was unbearable, and once on Saturday) to switch my contact lenses which helped a lot with the pain. From the moment the appointment started, he was dismissive, rushed, and showed no patience or empathy toward my child. I explained her condition in detail, including the fact that her previous specialist had moved and that we were advised to monitor symptoms like increased pain or flashes of light. Instead of acknowledging anything I said, he cut me off and told me there was "nothing we can do" and that she would ''just have to live with the pain." When I questioned how a parent is supposed to accept that, he responded defensively, asking, "Well what do you recommend we do then? What have doctors been able to do for her all these years?" His tone was unprofessional and completely unnecessary. He then said he wasn't the right doctor for her and handed me a list of other doctors. Even as we were putting our jackets on, he stood over us holding the clipboard in my face, demanding that I take it to the front desk. No patience, no basic courtesy. My daughter left the office crying and asked why a doctor would tell her she should live with pain, something no child should ever hear from a medical professional. To make matters worse, when I went to check out and asked the front desk how I could file a complaint, I was told that they didn't have a phone number or email for that!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not recommend him, especially for pediatric care. A doctor should have compassion, patience, and respect, none of which we experienced here.

My cousin's exam lasted only about four minutes, and mine was similarly brief. Shortly after the visit, we both developed pink eye, which raised serious concerns about the care and hygiene during the appointment. During multiple follow-up visits, the approach felt repetitive and dismissive. Dr. Salzman primarily prescribed antibiotic eye drops at nearly every visit, even after my pink eye had already cleared. There was little explanation provided, and no meaningful discussion of what might be causing the ongoing issues. At one visit, she noticed an eyelash in my eye and again defaulted to prescribing more drops. At my last visit on Tuesday, I still had an issue with my left eye and was once again given antibiotic drops without a thorough evaluation or clear explanation. Overall, the appointments felt rushed and overly focused on prescribing medication, rather than carefully examining the issue or addressing concerns. I did not feel listened to or properly evaluated, and I left feeling frustrated rather than reassured. I expected a much more careful and patient-centered experience, especially for what began as a routine eye exam.

So he looked at me eye and asked me a lot of questions that immediately gave him a complete mental picture of my situation. He followed this with a thorough eye exam. Then he had me return for a biopsy of the "thing". I did return, he did the biopsy. (quick and painless due to his dexterity with a little numbing stuff) I left with a patch over my eye (which is legal in ny). I now am a more courageous person, having driven about 15 miles with one eye..... and i thank him for that. All in all, i think This is the best doctor i have ever been to. Some people become doctors to fix problems. Some become doctors to heal people.
