Charged the wrong card so now I have wait to see what charges drop and which stay. Nobody at the front desk. Had to call to get service. There is a QR code that looks like Dine In Food Room Service. I ordered that and got Mountain Mike's Pizza delivery. Payed 260$ to stay at this motel on a Friday. Room wasn't horrible but VERY noisy, the tv didn't work and I also asked for a plunger and had to wait 25 mins to get 1 for 260$ a night I'd expect a working tv and toilet. I still tried returned today because it is in a convenient location from my parents house and today it wasn't so expensive, however I run a food catering buisness and had 2-3 of my customers come pick up their prepped meals while I was staying here as well as my father (I'm in between houses) and then they told me because I had guests I wasn't able to return. What hotel doesn't allow you to have guests that is the purpose of a hotel , on top of that the prostituties staying there definitely had guests but apparently it was only a problem when I did it. and my guests and family were there for 4-5 minutes maximum. So basically I was expected to pay 260$ for a loud, noisey, outdated , no tv , no pluming hotel room AND youre not allowed to have family or guests with you at ANY point during your stay. I would not recommend this establishment. The front desk service did not exist, you had to ring a bell to get him to come out from what seemed to be his residence. The place didn't smell good (mold) from the front desk to my room. The faucets in both the wash sink and the bathtub needed repair. There was only one towel in the room, had to see the front desk for another. Went to visit some friends and they told me that the area was not safe and I should leave that same night. I'm thoroughly disappointed in myself for booking this place. I started documenting the problems experienced here in sentence form and started to realize that it exceeded 3 pain points. So far, numbered in no particular order, (because they range from simply annoying to discarded flesh gross,) here is my list of problems: 1) How did it become acceptable to have a broken shower curtain and say, "meh, good 'nuff?!" 2) Also, a broken heater... IN WINTER! I did not sign up to experience the last season of Game of Thrones. 3) Someone else's hair strands extending from the hand towels made available. Always good to know that HoJo likes to get us in touch with previous guests. 4)Dead Earwig chilling in the corner. 5) "Clean Remote" has what looks like 'used human' taped to the front sensor. 6) Pillow has a boot print on it. Hope that cat in construction gear got the laser on the ceiling that was plaguing them all these years. These discoveries were made upon our initial inspection upon entering room 206. All this suffering because the nicer hotels in Monterey/Carmel that I preferred required a minimum of a 2-night stay and did not offer a refrigerator. I'll have to search harder next time. Or start my own franchise. Positives so far is that they have an artsy mirror and a 2-part painting. Both items in every room, however, so not as unique as once thought. My only reason for booking this was because there was literally nothing else available and this was over $200 for a queen room too. The room was damp, things were visibly dirty. I honestly regret staying here. The room was horrible--filthy, smelled strongly of stale cigarettes, and clearly hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. The bed was rock hard, and they only provided two tiny half-sized pillows--barely enough for one person, let alone two. The bathroom was even worse. The tub was dirty with a worn-out floor, and the walls were grimy. The shampoo and conditioner dispensers were completely empty. There were no tissues in the holder, and the small coffee pot looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The fridge? Absolutely disgusting--old white food spills and dirt packed into the door seals. To top it off, the front desk experience was disappointing. No one was there when I arrived--I had to wait, and when the attendant finally showed up, she was unfriendly, gave me only one key without asking if I needed more, and didn't offer any information about the amenities. I saw a sign saying breakfast was from 6:30 to 9:30 AM, so we got up early, only to find the area completely dark, locked, and unattended at 7:30. No explanation. No breakfast. Definitely not a family hotel/motel whatever you want to call it, drove 2 and half hours thinking this was a decent hotel. Took my family and once we got to our room we left within 15minutes tops. Thank goodness the A/C works well, too bad it's leaking on to the carpet and has created a massive wet spot about 5' in diameter which was there when we arrived. Oh boy this ample parking is sure nice when you don't have to worry about finding a parking spot coming back late, unless of course there's a "client" sitting in the lot with their car idling waiting to pick up their "date" that clearly works out of one of the upper floors with her 2 friends and their gentleman escorts/ drivers. Upon looking on Yelp and reading nothing but bad reviews, I had a feeling that maybe I made a bad choice. I'm here to say, DONT pay attention to the Yelp comments this place has been remodeled, and the rooms are clean, smell good, and the customer service was good. The last two nights of our business trip we stayed here. The hotel staff was absolutely fantastic. No problem with room. It was clean, looked recently remodeled. Bed was great, 4 pillows, work table and TV. Also had a microwave, coffee machine and mini fridge. Bathroom sinks (dual) , tub/shower combo (soap, shampoo, conditioner & lotion provided). Breakfast offered waffles, cereal, yogurt breads and muffins. Coffee machine with several selections. Fast and free breakfast. Only issue is they don't open until 6:30pm, 6am would have been ideal, since we had to be on our job site by 7am. Room 214 is left side of property. Definitely can here street noise. If your a lite sleeper, wear ear plugs. We will be back for the next 2 weeks, we will be booking here. Close to restaurants and movie theater. read more

If I could give this place a negative star rating I would. They do not clean at all for the next guest, the carpet was very wet when I first walked in, there was mold on almost every wall, the bathroom is filthy, the sheets were dirty and had someone's hair still in it, and to top it all off I found not 1 but 2 used condoms on the floor. I went and talked to the front desk and the man didn't really want to take responsibility for the issue and mostly stayed quiet while I explained the situation. He said the floors were cleaned, but that was obviously not true. I asked for a new room and was eventually given one. No apology was given. I walked into the new room with low expectations and sure enough beer bottle caps on the floor. Proving once again, they do not clean here. I kindly asked for a refund or partial refund, or quite frankly anything after realizing I did not feel comfortable leaving our Porsche Boxter outside in a parking lot with NO OTHER LUXURY CARS.. not to mention there was a completely smashed Honda Civic also parked in that lot with several white trucks. Drove right off the property after this rude interaction, where the staff checking us in was literally talking me down with his hand on his hips while making weird facial expressions. Corporate customer service equally sucks and got me nowhere. Forget the refund at this point, what happened to good customer service?? How hard is it to talk to someone with respect? Skipping the hyperbole generally inherent to 1-star reviews and getting straight to facts. 1) we show up to check in at 6:30pm and the front desk attendant tells us he has to see if housekeeping has finished cleaning our room. At 6:30pm... 2) we get to our room and the keys don't work in the locks. There's another party who has just checked in with the same issue. There is no resolution; just "keep trying it" and "try pulling the handle up instead of down". Eventually it works. 3) once inside the room, we realize the walls are paper thin as the Banda music that was loud outside is nearly as audible inside and continued until 9:30pm. There's also a screaming baby in the next room. 4) the front desk attendant calls us after 8:30pm to ask "the spelling" on our party name. We booked the reservation through a third party who transmitted the info; he just forgot which party he assigned to which room because of how disorganized he was on the key issue. 5) the toilet broke in the middle of the night. There are no other restrooms to use because the lobby is closed from 10:30pm to 6:30am. 6) we stood around for 10 minutes to wait for someone to check us out. We rang the various "ring for service" bells and eventually had to call the main hotel number to get anyone to show up. Sure, the rooms are clean and smell good (unless your toilet is backed up) and are remodeled or whatever. Does that matter if you can't get into your room at 6:30pm, can't sleep because of noise, can't use the bathroom, the staff forgets where they put you, and there is nobody to be found when you try to check out? read more

By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!! Got sent here for a work trip and barely stayed in the room because it was so bad! First off it started when checking in because I got a weird feeling then. I've never seen a front desk employee wearing a tee shirt, jeans, and flip flops. The hotel clearly states it's a none smoking hotel but as soon a I opened the door to my room I got hit with cigarettes. So I went back to the front desk to let him know and so I don't get the service charge for smoking. He then proceeded to come knock on my door and upon opening it he came in and sprayed a whole bottle of Febreeze which made the room 10x worse because those two scents don't blend together well. After he left I walked around the room and noticed how dirty it was! It had boogers on the walls, dirty sheets, scuffs all over the walls, and a chair falling apart! Went into the lobby area, I had printed out our reservations and the guy at the front desk said he could not find my reservations, I said you have it in your hand (I think he knew as soon as he saw us, this was NOT the hotel for us) he found my reservations, and he put us at the back of the hotel (only 4 other cars in the lot) went to our room, opened up the door and you literally got knocked in the face with cigarette smoke, the smoke detector was not on properly, you literally felt dirty going inside, we knew right away we were not staying here. The hotel is surrounded by apartments and we were being checked out, I felt if we had stayed the car would have been on blocks in the morning. Ohhh and not the mention the 2 "night workers" that said "heeey" to my husband, that if one bent over all her glory would have been visible. If we had to have slept in the car that night somewhere else we would have. Went to the front desk, and told him that we were not staying here. That was the only good thing was that the front desk guy, told me he canceled the charge, which I checked right away and he did. Well the hotel is fairly clean they have issues like they cut off the elevator after sticking you on the third floor they lock the door so you can't even get in and then you have to climb up and down the stairs to get your luggage just put it in your car they will not answer the phone the guy at the front desk is so nonchalant. Probably the worst hotel stay I've ever had. The day of our check-in, we get a phone call asking if we wanted to "upgrade" our room from 2 queen beds to 1 king bed. We told them no, because there's 5 of us. Then the manager, Cynthia, said we would be charge $20 per person or they could cancel our stay. At that point, we couldn't cancel since it was literally the day of our check-in AND we were driving up from Southern California, so we felt very threatened and insecure about our stay. We checked in, just my boyfriend and I. And I know they put a note that there would be 5 of us but like I said, we felt threatened, so we said it would be just the two of us. At check out, they charged us extra people and we asked why, and they said "we looked at our security cameras". First of all, that's a violation of privacy, second of all, yes, we had more people in the room but again, we felt threatened about our stay. Third of all, THEY SPIED ON US. That is completely disrespectful! They charged us without even notifying us, they didn't call or anything that they would be making those charges. They could've at least called and asked, but most importantly they violated our privacy. How do we know that they didn't have cameras in our room??? Other hotels, Sheraton, Marriot, Hilton, etc have all been accommodating when we have extra people. It irks me that we were SPIED ON. Also we tried to get the extra charges back, but every time we tried calling to speak to the manager "she wasn't available." They also said that this hotel is a non-smoking hotel, but people were smoking weed outside!! They can spy on us and bust us but they can't bust those weed smokers?? Ugh! This place disgusts me! We were on the first floor right by the parking lot and it was loud. The walls seem thin and there's a big gap under the door. Could hear everyone talk and hear exactly what they said. We heard all the cars in the lot. Not the best area either. There's CVS about a mile away and fast food restaurants not too far away. Plus Monterey is a thirty minute drive away. Check in is 2pm and check out is noon. They charge $50 as like a deposit/hold when you check in and when you check out and if the room is in the same condition then they'll cancel the $50 and it'll just be the charge of the room. read more

If you're on a budget and in need of lodging in Salinas, California (perhaps stopping by to see the John Steinbeck Museum or en route to Big Sur) this is the place to stay. Sure, it's a freakin' HoJo motel, but it wasn't shady in the least and the shower had the hottest water I've ever showered with in my life, which is pretty much my most favorite thing in the world. The rooms were clean, had basic amenities like a blow-dryer and complimentary toiletries, free wifi and there's a pretty decent complimentary breakfast in the little room off from the check-in desk with oatmeal, coffee, juices, hot chocolate, cereal, waffles, bagels and all the usual spreads that go with those b-fast type items. I wasn't super hungry, but I did kind of, sort of, totally ransack the oatmeal and hot chocolate packets to take along for the next destination on our trip. For the regular weekday rate of $89.99 or the AAA rate of $85.99 (oh boy!), you can get the best of the safest + cleanest + cheapest lodging in the area, of which your other options are a Holiday Inn that's $150 a night, or a seedy $39.99 motel that hotels.com users had rated a 3.5, but Yelp users almost unanimously gave 1 or 2 stars to, in addition to the 22 uploaded photos of stray hairs, ventilation unit coming out of the wall with exposed, hanging wires, soaked carpet and stains of every sort (brown, yellow, even a chunky blood-like red one). So yeah. That was a no-go, just choose HoJo. read more

Absolutely horrible "hotel". I felt so uncomfortable and unsafe that I packed back up and left within 30 minutes of checking in. Parking lot was full of trash with men loitering in their cars playing music and watching me unload my car. Room next to mine had people living in it with trash piled outside their door and were smoking and playing loud music. Booked a non smoking room and the room had been smoked in, pillows and sheets had stains, and the room was nothing like the photos I had seen. The photos provided online are completely deceiving (of the ENTIRE hotel). I cancelled my reservation and have yet to see any of the cost refunded. Tried contacting the hotel directly (I had booked and canceled through Booking.com) and was hung up on twice and sent to voicemail a third time. Tried emailing the property to which the person claimed he didn't know what I was talking about and didn't own a hotel (even though his contact information was on my invoice from the hotel). I missed half the event I came up to see because I was driving around trying to find another hotel - which were all booked out because of said event. Found an incredible rate for this hotel. Rapid check in with a pleasant receptionist. Hot water, clean bedding, lights and TV that worked. No foul smells, clean grounds, good parking and lighting. This place was a lot less expensive than hotels nearer Monterey Bay. Room even has double sinks--yay! So my only gripe about this place? The wallplug placement is stupid. There are plugs near the bathroom counter, but they are unusable because the mirror frame blocks them. The wallplug by the desk cannot hold a standard charger--it keeps falling off. Only the desk lamps with AC outlets are usable... and thankfully there is one outlet on the desk, and two on the shared night stand. Basic continental breakfast with waffle maker. read more

This hotel was subpar at best, the room cleanliness was terrible to say the least. I moved a chair and found belongings of a previous guest there. If visiting room 208, I will bet you probably find them there still. Kumar was the only staff member available for a majority of my stay. Incompetent and insecure and quite upset that I often asked him to do his job. He spent most of his day locked up in a room behind the front desk. On 3 separate occasions I had to go out of my way to find him or get his attention, I stood at the front desk counter for 30 minutes on the day of my check in. His reply was "just call the hotel if you need help" (which I did multiple times and he did not answer). He later realized that he never received a credit card after my check in and demanded I come down immediately. I told him I was on my way out for work and he started shouting like it was my fault he failed to appropriately check me in. The hotel would've received maybe 3 stars with some actual management and professionals, unfortunately Kumar thinks this is his house and he's doing you the favor of letting you stay in one of his rooms. Save yourself the let down and book an actual hotel instead of this place. read more

The hotel was room was nice it was big and room with microwave,fridge and the jet tub was amazing the beds were clean. Staff was amazing help when ever I need anything towels toilet paper they helpful I would recommend this hotel to anyone that's looking for a nice place to rest for the night read more

Very disappointing experience. We checked in for two nights and when it was time for bed, we found both beds did not have fitted sheets. Just the bed spread and mattress pad. The front desk brought us sheets and said we would have to make the beds ourselves. First time I have ever had to make my bed when checking into a hotel. The second night, the bathroom light stopped working, (not the bulb). The front desk said they could not fix it and they did not have another room. So we had to use the bathroom in pitch black or with the door open. Also, the juice machine for breakfast was broken. For almost $200 per night, you would think the lights would work and there would be sheets on the beds. read more
