We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

Located on the Rozengracht, it's super central and easy to get to from just about anywhere in the Jordaan or the Center. * The Atmosphere: It's dark, moody, and has a very cool "late-night" energy. Even if you aren't sure what it is from the street, the vibe inside is unmistakable. * The Food: If you like meat, this is your spot. The burgers are massive and juicy, and the ribs literally fall off the bone. * The Vibe: It's a bit louder and more energetic than a standard restaurant, making it perfect for a night out with a group or a casual date with great cocktails. It gets incredibly busy, so even though it feels like a "hidden" spot from the outside, you'll definitely want to book a table ahead of time. Overall: A total neighborhood win. Don't make the mistake of walking past it for as long as I did!

We entered and seated ourselves, and within 5 minutes, a staff person greeted us, brought us a flask of tap water (tastes great and clean) and two glasses, and gave us menus. We ordered a short rib sandwich for him and a chicken Caesar sandwich for me. These come à la carte but you can add sides if you want. I was glad we didn't because the portion was generous. One thing I've noticed here is that the bread is always high quality--our sandwiches came in baguettes about 8 inches long --I had to cut mine in half to eat it lol. Both were savory and flavorful and satisfying. The meat was tender and well seasoned. We savored every bite! They both had crispy bacon in them as well. Very filling! Just what we needed to energize us after our morning at Keukenhof!

I went with the favorites menu and each dish was beautifully plated. The space itself is quite large with lots of tables spaced apart so it wasn't crowded. I'm not sure I liked the different colored lights - seemed a little tacky lol but the space was nice. The flavors were for the most part very good but none of the dishes were outstanding imo. The oyster was delicious and very creamy. The butter was excellent. The desserts were a bit lacking.

The dish came with fries that paired really well with the duck. The textures worked together and nothing felt overdone. You can tell the kitchen knows exactly what they are doing. The duck was cooked with care and seasoned just right, which made the whole plate feel special. Service was great and the staff clearly knew the menu well. You can truly see how passionate and attentive everyone is here. Jeffrey, the server my family and I had last year, was still there and even came over to personally say hello, which meant so much to us. The food and service are absolutely exceptional. Some of the dishes a la carte are of great quality. My friends enjoyed a nice tuna carpacio as starter and seabass perfectly cooked with veggies. I managed to have few nice bites from their plates :)I have to say I was also impressed by their gratin dauphinois. Though a classic, this is really not such an easy French dish to prepare. Potatoes were thinly sliced, perfectly cooked with light and soft cream. - : Unfortunately for me I was in a foody mood and decided to try their "more elaborated dishes" a la carte. "Soupe de poisson a la Marseillaise" is a French cuisine classic. In their version of this dish, the fish and the shrimp did bring a nice note, but the quality was average. Way too liquid, no fine texture, the rouille sauce was like a basic mayonnaise... I am always a bit disappointed when those classics are not well executed :( Then I tried the "stuffed" coeur d'artichaud (artichoke). The artichoke was way too big and it felt like they tried to put as many things as possible in the filling (big pieces of mushrooms, other vegetables, cheese....). I was really expecting something lighter, fine and subtle. It's a great creative idea... too bad it did not deliver on my expectations. Luckily the sweet notes at the end were very nice. Try the meringue or the delicat au chocolate (cake). Though a bit filling the flavors are intense and I have had my great dose of chocolate for the week. In few words, a friendly table with a nice menu du jour. I would have given another star, if the service was a bit faster. We had to wait a lot to get the menus (and ended up looking at their website with our iphones) as well as inbetween dishes.
