This place is great compared to my local DPS here in Houston. The workers are fairly nice but there was some that were on edge. I took my driving test here and it was fairly easy. I drove in a neighborhood that is located behind the DPS. My appointment was at 3 and I didn't start my test until 3:30. Which is okay due to everything turning out well. I would recommend coming here. Just make sure you have everything you need a head of time. read more

I generally complain about the inefficiency of government, so this time I am compelled for fairness reasons to report this awesome (yes, awesome) experience I just had at the DPS supercentre. They understand people have better things to do than waiting in line and have introduced this cell-phone queuing system which is the best system I have encountered in any place involving a line. I basically checked into the queue when leaving home, they told me I would be served in 35 min. I got updates as the deadline was approaching and since I was still on the road after 30 min I could skip a person a few times through my cell phone making me arrive just on time for my new appointed time. I think I barely waited 4 minutes once inside the building. Just awesome. And on top of that, the clerk was very friendly. What else can we ask about? read more

I have been her twice now with two different son's getting their drivers test. I averaged my rating. My 1st time was easy. Got in line with my phone ahead of even leaving the house. Went through the first line quickly and waited less than 10 min to see the rep at cubicle 26. She was nice and very easy to deal with. Out in 30 min from beginning to end. His drivers test was even quicker. 10min inside sent to the car line. Easy peasy. Today sucked. Over an hour early. No one in line. Was sent to wait for our number to be announced. And waited and waited and waited. Finally 20 min AFTER his drivers test appt they called is. Lady was rude. Took her sweet time entering the info and he is just now in the car line outside to test. It is 45 min past his appt! read more

If I could give a half or zero star rating, I absolutely would. I have been jerked around, misled and outright lied to by several employees at this location, often in the same visit. They have no idea what documents are necessary or what they even have on file. Every piece of information I have been given has been rudely questioned by any other employee I spoke to. No matter what documents I bring, it is still always not enough. When I know for a fact they have some documents on file and have had this confirmed by one employee, the next will state that my information has been purged. The complications resulting from this have caused such incredible issues that I will never return. I was referred to this location as being the best DPS around, and honestly I have no idea how that could possibly be perceived by anyone. No matter how well I followed guidelines and requirements stated by both the employees (who I questioned in detail to be certain) and by the website, somehow there is still always an issue. The people who are employed at this location are the most incredibly incompetent people I have ever encountered at any business. Don't waste your time. Go to a different DPS. read more

The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because, the people at station 5 were amazing. The person working station 23 at 12pm on 8/17/17 sucked completely.... she was very rude and rushed through everything. She sent me back to station 5 to verify a document when at the beginning of the trip , it was already verified by station 5. I then had to go back to the waiting room because after going back to station 5 like she requested , she took another client. This place sucks and their customer service is horrible. read more

Hands down the worst customer experience of my life. Not only did they deny giving me a license due to the fact that my birth certificate was "not approved", but they hassled my wife by putting her maiden name and forcing her to take and pay for multiple photos. I am dumbfounded how these people can even operate without more complaints. My birth certificate has allowed me to receive 4 other state licenses and a US Passport without issue, but somehow Texas plays by different rules. What a joke! read more

Seven hours wait, and I wasn't the only one. The kid next to me told me he made an online appointment for 8:30am. Once there he was told he had to wait for his turn...9 hours later!!! I tried to make an appointment online but no slots were available at 7:30am. I finally got through but the earliest appointment was at 3:20pm. As a new resident to Texas I thought I'll just go up there and be out by then....mistake! I got my ticket at 10:45 am and didn't come out until 5:45 pm. I saw moms with little kids trying to keep them from running around, crying or bothering the people waiting. I saw the cutest little kids waiting patiently getting hungry, parents getting anxious wondering when this was going to be over. There were elderly people, trying not to fall asleep, or kept awake by the freezing AC. I heard the young man talking about his girlfriend who they wouldn't let back in. They told us they were closing the doors around 3pm, I lost sense of time by then...so she waited another two hours outside until all paper work was done. This is one of the most inefficient, waste of time resident of the Texas or new comers have to endure. read more

Ok. First off, the get in line kiosks were not working. I tried multiple times and they were not recognizing my number. When I asked for help I got nothing. So I had to sign in and wait as if I hadn't gotten in line on line. Secondly, the man at the front kept telling people they can't stand behind the middle wall. I had my one year old and a stroller and certainly wasn't going to search around for a seat. When I found a seat off to the side I was bombarded by unsupervised children touching my child, so I left. The get in line feature should be FIXED because busy moms like me do not want to sit in a loud public place with negligent parents not watching what their kids do. read more

Best DPS experience! I went to renew my license and I was in and out in 10 minutes. Before I went, I visited the website and entered my phone number to reserve a spot in line, and that put me in line while I was driving over there. They send text messages to update you on your waiting time. As soon as I got there, it was already my turn. I went to the station and the customer service was great. I visited this location about two years ago and had a great experience. This was not the case, this time. Our first attempt was on December 27. We were told there was no "get in line online" due to the holiday. ????? We were told 5-6 hour wait, so we left. Came back on January 3, when the online registration was working, again. The line was around the building. We asked the staff if we were to get in line even though it was 15 min until our appointment time...yep. As the group meandered around to the front of the building, a second line began to form, which none of the people from the first line were told about. At a point, the staff member came down the line and instructed everyone whose appointment time was after 3, to get into the second line. So, people who had been waiting 45 min, in 40 something degree temps, had to go to the back of the second line, behind everyone who had just arrived. Luckily, my appointment time was before 3, so I remained in line, only to go inside (after an hour) to find that we could not check in because we were all over 20 min past our scheduled time (due to the 1 hour wait to get into the building). After roaming around aimlessly for 5 min or so, we finally found a staff member who just gave us a number to get in line. The wait was only another hour after this point. Staff was friendly, despite being disorganized, upon check in. The man who did our paperwork was competent and friendly. So, the whole experience took 2 hours and 10 min. Not bad compared to some, but not good considering my last trip to this location took around 30 min. Not sure what happened, here. read more

So myself and my daughter visited the DMV several weeks ago. I should have written this review right away but life got in the way. I apologize to anyone who may benefit from this post for waiting so long. This particular visit was my third one in the last 6 months...once to get my daughter's driver's permit, once to get my son's driver's permit, and this time to get my daughter's driver's license. By coincidence, my last two visit I received service from one particular lady, Carol Dapp. To say that she was a total gem would be an understatement. In this branch of the public service industry, where these weary folks are serving thousands of people a week, I can see how one of the first things you may forget to do is smile. And one could easily forget to be kind. And one could certainly overlook the powerful position they are in...to have an opportunity to bless thousands of people per week and maybe even make her day. But this lady...this lady, Carol...she remembers. She remembers that she is dealing with people...people that are also stressed and rushed, people that are likely nervous about the process and worried that they may have forgotten a pertinent piece of paper, and sometimes do. Not only did she let me run to the car to get something I had forgotten, but she calmed me down and reminded me that it just wasn't that serious. She took the time actually speak to myself and both of my kids during their respected visits. She was a joy and has far more energy than most people half her age. How is it possible to actually enjoy your visit to the DMV? Well it is a given when you deal with someone who treats a person like a person and considers the human condition and just authentically puts priority on basic kindness and love. I think at the end of the day that is what we are all called to do. It's so simple, yet seems so out of reach sometimes. I was truly inspired by her. I was inspired by her light and joyful smile. I was inspired by how she chooses to spend the time and opportunities she has been given to touch lives. She is truly an angel among us and I actually pray I get to see her again when I travel there again in the near future to get my son's driver's license. Scheduled appointment online. The office is 15 minutes from my house by the time I got to the dps I walked right in and my number was called. No wait at all. The lady that helped me was very friendly and quick. I spent about 10-15 minutes here. Very unbelievable when dealing with DPS. I usually go to the Gessner location so this is a huge upgrade. So much cleaner, quicker and friendlier. read more

This place is the worst. I called ahead to get an online appt and still ended up waiting for four hours after my appt time. It is confusing where you are supposed to wait if you end up arriving early for your online time and you also get to stand outside for a while no matter the temperature. The lady waiting outside told me the wrong place to wait until I was allowed inside but insisted she didn't say what I and others heard her say. Just be prepared to wait and people watch regardless of online appt. The parking lot is a maze too! read more

We had an appointment for 352pm, reached the location by 330p, the police officer or who ever he was, told us to join the line outside, Appointments means nothing at this location, there were about 80 people in the appointment line trying to get into the building, and another 100 people who were in a another line. after waiting 1 hour line did not move, we had to leave. will try again. what a shame. read more

One of the first people in line, had to wait 3 hours to actually get anything done. This "Mega Center" is small and minute. Nothing mega about this place unless you mean the attitudes of the worker at this government place, who seem to not really care about the precious time we all have since they get paid by the hour. First of all, when my friend and I walked into the place the lady that was supposed to greet us and help us out was very rude and talked to us in a very rude manner. Beware of parking! I spent almost 25 minutes looking for a spot only to have to park at the Valero and subsequently get towed. Be careful - the shops in that center have people watching for who parks in the wrong spot and then they call the towing company which is right across from Walgreens (ATK Towing). $188.80 to get the car out. I even tried following people to their car and that didn't work out. read more

DPS office was great inside and efficient. My son went for his drivers test. The streets around the DPS office were so busy and confusing if you were not familiar with this area. We drove over an hour to get here because we scheduled on line and they had more openings. My son was very nervous and ended up not passing. Rats! Just make sure you really make an effort to turn your head more than what you normally would because they are watching how you observe the road. Wow what a joke! The idea makes great sense but reality is the system is broken and sucks!!! I Walked in with 11 minutes to go. Got myself verified and the woman said you have 16 minutes to wait. (Huh? How did that happen? I think oh well I'll sit and read. ) I then drop to 18 minutes. Why is it going the wrong direction? Then slowly but surely it starts going down in time, 18, 17, 15, 13, ... 7 and then I get down to 2 minutes. I think finally after 48 minutes I am finally down to 2 minutes. Woohoo! And then it drops to 7 minutes. WTF? And it sits at 7 minutes for 20 minutes. Keep in mind I am just taking the written test. This is absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe how crappy this system is. I haven't needed to renew my Driver's License for 10 years in person. I went to the Spring location and waited 4 1/2 hours to renew my license???? I got there at 12:45 and was done at 5:15!!! No, I didn't make an appointment. My husband and I looked online and it appeared you had to be on the premises to "get in line online now". ?? Others sitting next to me had been there from 8:30 to right after I got there and another person had been there from 11:30 and left around 5 p.m. WOW!!! AWFUL!!! read more

I spent most of my day at the DPS on Spring Cypress Road waiting to get my Texas license after 2 hours of waiting I was waited on by the nicest lady after a long day of waiting and sum 150 people there while I was there she was so nice and actually visited with me while she was typing in my info and was telling me about her teenage kids and talking about what they were going to do this weekend she didn't rush me thru or make me hurry up and she even renewed my stepdads license for him while he was waiting on me to get done she did his right after he didn't have to go back and wait in line made it worth the wait and a pleasant experience.... I was going in thinking the worst from what everyone has told me I was expecting a very bad and unfriendly experience..... so I send out a big kudos to the awesome lady who helped me :) read more

Wow great got in and out in like 8 hours! Great atmosphere, especially the smelly children. Love that there are two language options, wish they had more though, I couldn't really understand either of them. Smells like feet and pizza . Great trampoline park next door (that's where they made us wait because their waiting area was so full). Only got cussed out three times by the employees, less than usual! The people here are very scary, would not recommend bringing children or the elderly due to the fact that they would be very vulnerable to getting an STD just from sitting in one of their waiting chairs. Will be back in 6 years for my next renewal though! Hopefully they have more people working by then, as this time there were 40 stations with like 4 angry people working at them. When I first got my license, there was only one frustrated person working so they have obviously taken a step in the right direction! Thank you Houston DPS, very cool! read more

Houston-Spring Mega Center DPS - Departments of Motor Vehicles Near Me - Spring, Texas

Mega center is mega busy and chaotic, with a huge busy parking lot. It's cool that you can check in online, but the system is flawed, so beware!!! The first time I went the online check in worked OK, pretty accurate on wait time and the time was over quoted slightly but I was still able to arrive close to my time and not wait too long. However the second visit was a disaster- -Checked in online at @11:34AM, get text that the wait time is 90 minutes. -Asked for status @11:50AM, now 67 minutes wait time. -Asked for status @12:09, now 57 minutes wait time. Get in the car to leave shortly thereafter (about 30 mins away). -Only 12 mins later @12:22 I get a txt saying 18 minutes wait time. Will probably still make it, so I don't extend the time. -Then 4 mins later @12:26 I get a text saying I am at front of the line!! Ack now I missed my spot! -Then I immediately get a text saying I have been passed over but I can rejoin the line. -Then I rejoin the line and have 5 minutes, which isn't quite enough, so I request 15 more so I don't have to hussle. -When I get there ~15 minutes later there is 15 minutes left (huh?) and I am in 7th place. For the next 25 minutes I sit there while the wait time and place in line on the posted TV both jump all over the place. I was in 6th, then 10th, and everywhere in between, and the time kept changing from 8 mins to 11 mins to 15 mins etc etc. -Then outta nowhere I jump from 6th to 1st in less than a minute and then get seen within 5 minutes. But then before in even get over to the window, I get a text saying I am out of line again..... Wtf!!! Makes no damn sense except that they workflow and/or system aren't accurately aligned/accounted for. Either way it's no better than a regular setup where they move fast. The other annoying step is that they make you stand in line (even if you checked in online) so that they can pre-screen your paperwork. On the upside once you get past the waiting system, the people that I have dealt with have been mostly very nice and helpful. read more

I am very disappointed in the lack of service at this location. The one off of Grant was faster than this and that one was still terrible. I've been here since 12:11 and it is 2:30. I got married and I'm just here to get a new license with my new name. Words cannot describe the awe I'm in with the fact that they can't even get people helped in the order that they arrived either. 2 people that got here at least 15 mins after me have been helped and left already. I don't understand how anyone could rate this place any higher than a one. I got here at 7:45 am with only about 35 to 45 people in front of me. It is now 10:02 and they jump around the numbers so much. There are at least 10 people that got here after me by a long ways I am L4031 and they have been calling L4073. And the only thing they can tell anyone is that the numbers jump around and they usually have a 4 hour wait time. read more
