I did not have any issues getting paid for my items that I sold. I had under 20 items I was selling. The only thing I had a small problem with was that my things were not all auctioned in one week and since then... 4 weeks, they have not been auctioned. I am accustomed to just taking things home they pass on and now I am waiting for them to auction the rest of my things. I have found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Vern Wallace has been friendly to our whole family. Vern is approachable. He also is very family oriented. I do think Vern is a business man and is serious when he needs to be. read more

Our experience with Vern at Houston's Auction Barn has been an absolute nightmare. When we first contracted with Vern to sell our household goods, he had weeks to come pick up the furniture in the house and miscellaneous items in the garage. After numerous excuses, he finally picked the final load just hours before we closed on the house. And of course they loaded up a few items that were not supposed to go. Now that our items have 99% been sold, he has been promising a final accounting and check since February 3rd! If you see oak book shelves in his pictures, those are ours that he just can't seem to sell but sure does get good use out of them. Maybe we could rent them to him? read more

They hosted a charity auction for a local organization I volunteer with and still 3 months later will not hand over the money raised. Definitely sketchy and the owner won't return phone calls and just blocks anybody that contacts him on Facebook. I definitely won't be giving them anymore of my business. read more

Two (2) months have passed, making it a total of two (2) years I have been trying to get my money and the rubbermaid bins I used to deliver the items to Vern at the Veterans Memorial location. After countless phone calls, voicemails and text messages, I stopped by the new location several times on 1960 and he would say he was working on it and would give me call. read more

Vern Wallace is the owner of Houston Auction Barn. He owes money to a charitable organization I volunteer for. What kind if scum bag offers to hold a auction as a charity event for the organization and then does not pay them in full? He keeps giving excuse after excuse....says the check is in the mail...refuses to answer any phone calls...and then blocks the organization and others that are trying to help them from his FB page? Anyone that comments inquiring about the balance owed to them is being blocked. He has gone as far as indicating his business is permanently closed on some media outlets, just to avoid additional negative reviews. He is OPEN for business as he clearly has this information on his website. He should be SHUT DOWN!! It also seems that he has SCAMMED several other unknowing individuals from their money. DO NOT support a business like this!! This so called place of business deserves less than a "zero" star!! read more

I have had no issues with Houston Auction House. I've dropped off two truck loads here to be auctioned off. First load was auctioned off over a period of a few weeks. Didn't have any issues with getting paid..just dropped off another load last week ... read more

Yet another person that didn't get paid from Vern. Its been over 6 months and while the amount of money is small its the principle at this point. I would suggest the people file a small claims case against Vern. Its $119 and takes about 20 minutes. I will see him in court in a few months and they will hopefully make him do what hes been promising for months. read more

DO NO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!! My husband and I contracted with this company for an estate sale in the summer of 2016. We sold 95% of our personal assets that we had accumulated over our 29 year marriage. We moved to a different city to a furnished home and decided to sell everything in our 4 bedroom house; furniture, china, silver, crystal, art, dishes, collectibles, outdoor items, etc., etc., etc. To date, we have not received one cent. After numerous attempts to contact Vern, we received excuse after excuse, or he would not answer our calls or emails. We have contacted our attorney, and found out that he has two judgments, 1.2 million federal tax lien, two bankruptcies, has six criminal records (felony, forgery, theft, etc.) against him. He was sentenced to 20 years with TDC. (why is he still not there?????) To top it off, his auctioneer license number 17161 expired in September 2013, and he is still conducting business. The company has not heard the last of us. We will contact the BBB, Attorney General, and any other entity that our attorney advises us to. We will also be all over social media about this scumbag so this does not happen to any other person. read more

Rumor has it this company is not being honest with a charity an auction was held for. Angel Gowns by Diane (they sew burial gowns for baby's who don't make it out of the hospital) was not given money from this auction house that was promised them. Shame. read more

BEWARE !! Vern Wallace is an extremely unscrupulous business person. Due to a family emergency, I needed to relocate out of state on short notice. I reached out to Houston Auction Barn for assistance to sell a significant number of items that I was unable to pack for out-of-state shipment. Within 6 hours of leaving a voice message, Vern responded and assured me that he could help me with my short notice need for auction assistance. He was quick to email me a contract and then made email arrangements to have his "team" pick up my items. I provided Vern with a detailed list of all items, along with pictures and receipts from my original purchases. In addition, I provided his "team" with the same inventory list when they arrived to pick up my items. Then, I never heard from him again. For two months post pick-up date, I repeatedly emailed him and called him. He did not answer his phone; therefore, I had to leave voice messages. Finally, I received one brief email in which he stated HAB was having "computer troubles". Vern was unable to provide me with a list of items sold but assured me that all items sold. I gave him an additional month to rectify his "computer troubles" and noted that I expected my payment. It is now 7 months later and I still have no payment! I notified the Texas State Attorney General's office as well as the local Better Business Bureau about the situation. After waiting the required amount of time so each entity could investigate my case, I was advised by TX SAG and BBB to retain a lawyer. I notified Vern that I was going to pursue legal action if he did not produce a sales invoice and send me my payment. It is June 28, 2017 and I still have not heard from him. As far as I'm concerned, Vern Wallace of the Houston Auction Barn stole my property. I'm in the process of retaining legal representation. This place is horrible. I donated a large lot of handmade items, items that were supposed to be auctioned on behalf of a local charity. I was in attendance that evening and every single one of my items were sold, I was so happy! Come to find out, the charity never received the money! This charity makes gowns to help families that have lost their children and they have very much been taking advantage of. The owner of the auction barn should be ashamed of himself. After reading these reviews and seeing all of the other people that never receive their money, I feel like we have all been preyed upon. read more

My question to each and every one who has not received payment for their items, why they simply wrote on these pages and did not report to the TDLR. IF this man is not paying in a timely manner, this is a violation of Texas Law. The TDLR would investigate and determine the outcome. These sites and the BBB are simply a way to vent, not to accomplish anything. read more
