I've stopped here several times over the years when my body needs a break from being in the…read morevehicle. Tonight I sat way too long in the lineup at Peter's, so naturally I thought of this location on my way home. It was super windy and quite chilly tonight. I debated just looking at the lake from the vehicle but I wanted to see what birds were out there. So I had a fast eating kind of picnic while watching the geese at the lake, checked out the playground to see if it's worth bringing the nephews and nieces (definitely cool!) and just enjoyed watching the sun set from different angles. It's a large park with the road dividing the off leash area from where the playground is. Trees look to be the boundary to the gold course further back in the park. If you're looking for well set up group spaces for picnics that are family friendly, I'd recommend this location. Lots of parking too. Oh

This park is OUT OF THIS WORLD!…read more There are so many playgrounds here, it is easy for me to get lost! TONS of parking, at least 5 separate playgrounds including - toddler playground, big kid playground, rock wall/climbing and rope course play ground, HUGE spray park, and a freaking monkey bars playground... that's right, I said a monkey bars playground with more than 20 different types/styles of monkey bars. This park is INSANE - if you haven't been here, you NEED to come. Get up, right now and go! So pray tell, why am I only giving 4 stars rather than 5 stars? Well... Okay, compared to my family's personal have spray park, this park does not offer concessions, is not staffed during all open hours, and has a lake that little ones could run off to quickly and possibly get wet or be in a dangerous situation. So... If coming here with only big kids that you trust not to go in the lake or run out in the parking lot, then this park may become your very favourite. If you are like me with two kids under 6, this park requires a 1:1 ratio of adults to children to be certain of safety. I will most definitely be coming back here again and again and again!

Victoria Park - Bring quarters or if you're lucky your own lock.

There's even a small park for children, decent parking, and it is located very close to the river if you wanted to go for a nice walk on the paths. It is also walking distance from downtown. There is a skating rink in the winter (which I've not visited as most of my visits have been in the spring/fall/summer) but the space is lovely for a picnic or other summer activities. A smaller park, it is often less busy than other more well-known Edmonton parks in the downtown accessible area.

The ice is fairly well maintained. This year they added in the 400m Freezeway, which is an awesome starter project. The loop is still fairly short, but lots of fun to skate! There are slight slopes which make it fun, but also a little scary for newer skaters. The ice is rough. Very rough. So be careful! The areas with the lights are very pretty and are a perfect place to snap a picture. I'm really excited about this project and hope they expand it in future years! There's lots of parking to be found here, which makes it super convenient to visit. A great place to head for some free fun, a workout, or even a date!

LOVED loved LOVED - Did I mention LOVED?!? this park!…read more We ventured out to this community league park containing two playgrounds, fields, outdoor ice rink, and spray park for the day last week for a Mommy kiddo group play date. Little community league spray parks like this are a real gem! With playground equipment designed for toddlers and bigger kids AND a section of swings, this community league has got it all. There is a green shack here in the summer but I think the hours were 230-6PM Monday through Friday so we just missed them opening. Back behind the grassy knoll were great hills that just begged for bike riding fun or sledding in the winter! The park is fenced off with a couple entrances/exits but I REALLY appreciate limtied entries and exits when watching multiple kiddos 5 & under at a park! The water portion was small in comparison to the spray and splash parks listed on the city of Edmonton website but this is still a total gem! There was more than enough water features to keep the approximately 30 kids in the water entertained and the sandy toddler area also had toddler height sand/water tables for more fun play! There were washrooms available for our use and the Ottewell Community League playschool was also on site today. Man... If I lilved here, I would most DEFINITELY be having my kiddo's next birthday party here! There is a fairly large covered area with multiple picnic tables and quite a few shady spots and benches around the park. This particular visit was rather humorous because I had to rescue some screaming kidlets from squishing and stepping on poo that some kid left on the ground - YUCK! Thankfully, the washrooms came in handy so I could grab some paper towels and clean it up best I could for the kidlets! If you have toddler or little kids, then this park is worth the drive from anywhere around Edmonton! Or if you are shopping for a place to move and raise kids and want to be near Capillano, this may be just the neighbourhood for you!

People come from all other neighbourhoods to enjoy the park and spray park. There is a great Green Shack program for the older kids through out the summer. And through the winter the full size skating rink is amazing with a full size locker room for changing comfortably. It's always clean and there are great things for the kids to play with young and old. It's also a busy little Hall for events and bookings. With seating capacity up to 120, there is a electric fire place and a projector with a screen for all this slide shows. The best thing about the hall is the huge chef's kitchen. Tons of room with all the bells and whistles for catering your own events. It also has a nice bar with a huge fridge and serving area for that professional touch. Did I mention the commercial Ice Maker? Yeah one of those too! The rental rates are fantastic and even better if you a community league member!

Looking south, you'd think Edmonton is just a giant park with a university in the middle of it. There are lots of benches and a few picnic tables and even a gazebo (which apparently you can rent through the City of Edmonton's website!). Despite all the traffic going by, it's still pretty quiet. This park also seems to be more popular with seniors and cyclists than with homeless people, at least compared to other parks in the downtown area. There's some metered parking nearby, but walk or bike if you can. It's good for you!

It has…read moremultiple benches throughout that give you a different view of the valley and is well landscaped. They offer a gazebo for private bookings but it is open to the public and is a great place to wait out the rain if you are caught off guard. It is located right next to the historic LeMarchand Mansion that was built in 1910. The LeMarchand is one of Edmonton's most recognisable buildings and a welcome back drop to Grant Notley Park. The park is small by most standards as it takes up a little less than one square block but they have used the space quite effectively in my opinion. Along the south border there are benches that follow the edge of the valley with a few picnic tables located on the other side of the walkway amongst the trees. You get a good mix of people in the park both young and old mostly there to sip on a coffee and enjoy the view. It is not a park that is activity friendly though in my opinion as the grassy area is small and hilly with trees dotting the path. I have seen a ladies boot camp use it to do weight work but that's about it. The view of the sunset is quite amazing as well as the night sky, you will find it fills up quite quickly during warm evenings. If I could change one thing it would be the storm drain that is located in the North East corner of the park right off of the road as the smell can be quite strong if the wind catches it right. The next time you are walking down the Victoria Promenade I recommend crossing Victoria Park Road and checking it out.
