Hourigans Flooring We had all our floors replaced except for the living /dining areas. We were happy with results, except for the kitchen. It was a nightmare. 1st of all there was a gap between the flooring and the cubboards of around 1/2 to ¼ inch. The floor had to be lifted and reinstalled. Then two of the tiles lifted and again that potion of the flooring was reinstalled. Now after a few weeks, one of the tiles is again lifting All in all, we would not recommend Hourigans to any one. The workman ship by the installer was shoddy at best and he seemed to have more important issues on his mind. My flooring was installed by Behrouz, and I was beyond pleased with his work and positive attitude. He installed LVP throughout my 2-bed condo in early August 2025 but had to wait until my bathroom renos were underway to finish the bathrooms and so returned today, a month later, to finish those rooms. Even then, he had to navigate installing flooring under pre-hung vanities and was very consultative with me and the contractor to ensure the flooring would work with the final design. Professional installation prices for DIY results. We had our entire floor replaced (2200sq ft) of vinyl plank and we re-carpeted the stairs. We paid $25,000. Normally I wouldn't write a review so long after an installation has been completed (~3 yrs) but so I'm sick and tired of coming across issues caused by poor installation. It's ongoing. 1. Large gaps between planks. 2. Planks lifting up as not enough glue was used. 3. Missing pieces of flooring in the corners of rooms, near closet doors, along walls, etc. 4. Some rooms previously had carpet installed. Trim was added along the bottom of walls to "cover the gap". Most of these are held in by 1-2 nails and continue to fall off of the wall. Other sections of trim have plenty of nails, but the nails used were too short and don't connect the trim to the wall. 5. Old glue lumps can be felt underfoot while using the stairs as the previous carpet material wasn't fully removed/scraped off. I completed my initial inspection following the install, was told I was being "too picky" and one of the new, junior installers told me to "f**k off" before slamming my front door and leaving. This was quickly addressed by Hourigans management but I think it speaks to the caliber of people they hire. The installers damaged walls, trim, and caused water damage by not fully emptying toilets before removing them. They never cleaned up after themselves - this includes dust, tools, garbage, food, clothing, etc. I had to clean each night as I worried that my pets and young children would hurt themselves. The owner of Hourigans explained that "these things happen during installs" and offered me $500 for my troubles. **Side Note - be prepared to hear a lot about the mysterious "Industry Standard" when completing walkthrough inspections. It's a catch-all for anything they don't want to fix or warn you about ahead of time, "That? Oh that happens all the time, industry standard." "That gap is fine, industry standard." If property damage, garbage, and sloppy installation is "industry standard", then it should be clearly stated in the purchase contract so customers can make an informed decision.** I emailed the installers directly about 5mths later as I continued to discover mistakes. Surprise, surprise, the installation company no longer exists but they hadn't closed their old email accounts. One of the previous owners saw the email and wrote me back. He came over, added putty to some areas of missing vinyl plank (although I said I had spare pieces of flooring), and attempted to fill some smaller gaps with crayon and stain. It looks terrible. In conclusion, Hourigans, as a flooring store, is average. The products are expensive, but are of good quality. Management will address any issues you have but to their satisfaction, not yours. The installations are rushed, expensive, and riddled with issues. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. read more

Ours was a small job -- replacing carpeting in a stairway. The salesman, Jacques, was terrific and very quick to get things rolling. The price was competitive. The installation was great, but within a month or so, the stairs were showing shadowy marks. Jacques put me in touch with Brett, who deals with quality issues, and within days Martin, who co-owns the company, came by, assessed the situation and offered to have the stairs cleaned at their cost. The cleaning didn't solve the problem, so Hourigans offered to replace the carpeting. Again, the installation was very well done and installer Ian also voluntarily fixed a slight unevenness on the stair landing. The whole process was handled with speed and professionalism, and we are very happy with new carpeting -- and grateful. We try to use local companies when we can and this is one of the good ones. We recommend them 100 percent. read more

I went to this company because of their great reviews and I wanted a quality experience and floor. Their communication is extremely poor. I was astounded at the lack of care for the significant inconveniences, complete lack of communication, and delays I encountered. A quoted one day install spanned 5 total days over two weeks for an approximately 33 square foot area. Nobody ever called me with an update, explanations for the delay, or an apology. On multiple days, I was assured that the job would be completed the next day... that went on for days. Jacques, the sales rep, seemed to be a challenge to get a hold of and didn't seem to be communicating with the installers or aware that things weren't being completed. They always had questions and were confused about the job upon arrival. I received an apology, but only when I reached out myself for an explanation and a solution after days of delays and promises. I was offered $100 off, which doesn't even begin to cover my expenses for the delays. It was a constant blame game and excuses with this company. I was told by the manager, Scott, that the silver lining to the delays is that I will get a really well done floor. So apparently anybody having work done in a timely fashion by this company isn't getting quality floors...? The fastest and easiest part of my experience with Hourigan's was when they charged my credit card. My last payment was automatically charged without my authorization, so they kept my credit card on file without my permission as well. I sincerely do not recommend this company. Every step of the way has been an absolute pain and frustration. My lost wages and time during this installation period were significant. They're obviously in over their heads with jobs and not enough staff, or they simply don't care about their customers time. read more

I have used Hourigan's several times. Last year they installed vinyl tile flooring in my small condo as part of a total renovation. Unfortunately the installation (by contractors) was not done well; after removing the original older floor coverings, the floor base should have been cleaned properly which wasn't done. The tiles subsequently lifted in many places. I contacted Hourigan's with photos of the problem. The owner visited in person to review the issue and agreed it was unsatisfactory. After a long wait due to the COVID lockdown, I am happy to report now that a complete remediation has been done with vinyl plank flooring laid over the problem tiles. The job was done in one day by two excellent workers; even though there are many tight corners and appliances had to be pulled out, I cannot say enough about the professional job they have done! I am so grateful and pleased with the final outcome and highly recommend Hourigan's for attending to my problem and remediating the floor to my total satisfaction. read more

Very dated choices, the person who was showing us around did not know details about products, she did not make any suggestions about what products to use for our floor, the choices we suggested she didn't know anything of, so limited on modern or rustic choices, just the old fashioned same markings on many of the exhibits. This company refused to give me a breakdown of price per foot, underlay etc. For inexpensive acryllic carpet, between 3-4 dollars a sq. foot, they came in at almost triple the competition at 3,000 for 215 square feet of basement space. I emailed the person to ask if she had mistakenly quoted me for granite. My granite counter cost less than this. I had to phone the owner to get the prices. The quotation I received in my email then went down from 3,000 to 1599.00 which is still far above all the others. Even if you pay 65 for a representative to measure, which I did at one company, you are still far ahead of unscrupulous people charging whatever the hell they want. They wanted 1700 for installation ONLY. As a woman whose done all the renos alone over the years, it's standard to get at least three quotations. This was ridiculous, and I may take the emails to BB Bureau. Don't use this company. I hate people who fleece those of us who work two jobs to live here. read more
