IMO after learning it's gladiator school behind those doors including pit bulls and Rottweilers, you gotta be nuts to leave anything but a beast here. Dogs are left to fend for themselves in open areas. God only knows what happens over night. After only a few trips my golden retriever turned aggressive. Not always, but I'm confident fighting the other dogs brought this out. Great staff and owners a nice guy but this is a disaster. DO NOT SUBJECT YOUR LOVED ONE TO BE ABUSED! read more

I have been thinking long and hard about whether to leave a review. I can honestly say that my dog seemed to have a great time there, and most of the staff is definitely great with the dogs. But I had an issue there about a month ago, and I just feel like it was handled horribly, and honestly, i'm still pretty furious about the entire ordeal. This is strictly in regards to the Ronkonkoma location. I have spent thousands of dollars there the last 2 years, and have spent hundreds of dollars just buying the employees breakfast, so I would say i'm the ideal client. I bought a 20 class pack in June. In late September I asked how many days I had left, and they told me they expired 7 of them. That's over $200. They told me I had 90 days to use them, and despite the fact that nobody mentioned that it was coming close to the expiration date, AND they aren't even open on Sundays, so it's actually 77 days, it's still my problem. I complained to the manager, Sam, who should NOT be in customer service as i felt she was arguing with me, and told me if I had any financial issues, they would work with me. Who ever said anything about financial issues? How dare she assume that. She would be fired if she was my employee, but not my business.. not my reputation. But the whole 90 days thing i'm pretty sure is illegal. See soul cycle class action lawsuit regarding subscriptions. Would love for someone else who has been wronged by them to look more into this. I complained to the owner about it, who took over 2 weeks to get back to me. But by that point, it was too little too late. Losing a customer didn't seem to be on his important list. I also can confirm that at least 3 other people that I have spoken to on my dog walks, as many people in my neighborhood go there, or have gone there, have stopped going there due to their dogs getting sick. My dog always came back disgustingly rancid unless I got an exit bath, so they must be playing in pure filth daily, which is why I'm guessing you can't see 90% of the playing space there. I can't confirm my dog has gotten sick specifically from there, but I can tell you that my dog has gotten sick more than she should, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was from there. If anyone wants to see any pictures of my dog covered in filth when I picked her up, I'm happy to share. This really pains me to write due to my respect for so many of the employees there, but if I can save even 1 other person from going through this, it was worth it. read more

I just have to praise the team at Ronkonkoma. We had to put our Charlie and Leo at Commack due to making a late reservation for the week starting this past Friday. Although the folks at Commack were attentive and kind, they did not know our two boxers, Charlie (3 female) and Leo (2 male). Charlie is a bit rambunctious and has a ton of energy. The team at Commack didn't know them and separated them from the others because they were rightfully concerned. We reached out to our friends at Ronkonkoma, where we have been bringing all of our boxers for the last 17 year (5 boxers in total). All our boxers felt it was like a second home. We mentioned the issue and asked a huge favor: if they could pick them up form Commack since we are currently in Tennessee. They figured it out and picked them up this morning!!!! We are so enormously, eternally grateful that one of the staff agreed to pick them up and that they are now with the people who know them and are now playing with their doggy peeps. Thank you to the team at Ronkonkoma. We already knew you were the best, but this goes beyond. Soooo blessed to have you all taking care of Charlie and Leo!!! read more

Boscoe goes 1-2x a week for 10+ hours. He comes home pooped and sleeps like a log. The location is perfect! It is literally across the street from Ronkonkoma train station so I just drop him off and head to work. They also close at 8 PM which is two hours later than most daycare facilities. One time my train was delayed and I wasn't able to get there until almost 830 and they were totally cool with it! I kept apologizing but they completely understood. I am so thankful for the girls that work there! Boscoe loves them and they clearly love him back. His whole body wiggles when he sees them and always tries to give them kisses. Yes your dog will stink when he comes home but that's because they were playing all day. They offer an exit bath service which is wonderful! After a week of daycare a quick scrub down is perfect and worth the price. read more

My dog recently stayed there for 4 days. I found their services to be excellent. They were sweet to my dog, she was immaculately clean after her bath, and was super happy when I picked her up. Also, she has a raw diet, and I was concerned that they wouldnt be able to follow her complicated process of thawing her meat and vegetables separately but they seemed to follow my instructions. On the downside, however, I found the prices to be crazy high. They have 2 different boarding prices, $58 and $75 per night. Of course the $58 one was sold out, so I was forced to pay the $75 per night one, so I wasn't crazy about that. Also, currently they do not take American Express, and I hope that will change in the future. read more

Hounds Town has been one of my greatest finds as a dog owner. Before I found Hounds Town I, nor anyone in my family, had ever boarded their dogs. My Jack Russell, Janie, is a handful which makes trying to find a dog sitter a difficult task. She is a good girl, just always busy and into everything, especially when she isn't stimulated. When forced between the options having a family member care for her, where she would be spending most her day when they aren't home in a crate, or giving an interactive boarding experience a try, I knew it would be best for Janie to try Hounds Town. I did my research before I tried Hounds Town and many of the places on Long Island that offered the "same experience" were smelly and the people were not helpful. When I brought Janie for her temperament test at Hounds Town, I knew it was the place for her. The girls were so kind to her and approached her in a non-threatening way. They were calm and patient and knew exactly how to handle Janie, who was anxious about the new environment. They brought out the perfect dog to introduce her to and Janie was comfortable.The facility was so clean and the dogs that were coming in were all so excited to get to the back to play. I have been bringing Janie to Hounds Town once every few months, whenever I have to go away, for a few years now but what prompted me to write this review was her care the past two weekends. I never feel good about leaving my dog but when I was required to travel for work two weekends in a row, Janie needed a place to go. The staff at Hounds Town accepted her enthusiastically. When I bring her in I feel as though I am leaving her in the hands of people who really care about her, not people who are just "doing a job." I am sure I drive them a little crazy with my daily check-ins but it is so comforting that they are always willing to give me an update. And, it's always a personal update, I know they are actually telling me about my dog. When she comes home, she is always tired, which for Janie, takes a lot. I am so grateful to have found a safe and fun space for my dog. I will continue to bring Janie to Hounds Town for boarding and as the weather gets nicer I think she may even come in a few times a week for daycare! **Whenever Janie stays the night, I request an exit bath and the groomer does a great job with her. Our dog died while in their care. Yes- She was an older dog but she was not gravely ill when we dropped her off before our week long vacation and she was medically cleared before boarding. My puppy went for socialization training and some obedience training. That all went well and the staff was excellent. One problem..my pup came home with kennel cough and is now lethargic, coughing and not a happy camper. My vet said this its a virus that will pass in a few weeks. I have owned several dogs who have been groomed at a groomer who lets the dogs socialize all the time while they wait for their baths and haircuts. I have never had any of my dogs come home with kennel cough. No excuses for this for sure. read more

This place is terrible. My wife and I had brought our dog here often with the impression that they were taking good care of her and the other dogs. Well, we were fooled. My wife dropped off our lab at 6:00 am with 2 bags of food (1 for breakfast and 1 for dinner) and a bag of baby carrots. When she came by at 6:30 pm to pick up our dog she noticed in the area where they kept the leashes that ALL 3 bags of food were still there!! When she confronted the girl about the bags of food the only explanation she could give was that she didn't know what was going on because she came in AT NOON! Needless to say that after waiting almost an hour after she got home to give our pup any water or food our dog vomited 12 times that night. I left a message on their FB page and no one replied to it. But fortunately PLENTY of friends saw it. read more

My daughters dog Copper, loves it there, spend most of the day playing with all his furry friends, then come home exhausted. Yes he does smell a little, but a quick wash and he is good to go, or sleep for the rest of the night. I was concerned about the excessive heat outside, but was assured they do not let them play outside if its above 80 degrees. We started visiting when he was too young to leave alone when we were at work. Now we take our guy here somedays even if I am working from home just to have a playdate and burn off some energy. Our guy loves to go. He looks forward to it. Sometimes he just walks to the door when I get ready for work like he's saying well hurry up I am ready to go! The staff is great, very nice and well he loves them to death so I know they are good to him. They do get pretty dirty and stinky playing all day, so unless you have the time I wold say get the exit bath! It's so worth the price. read more

I was the super proud owner of an eight month old wheaten terrier puppy. Although I tried everything, my pup had severe separation anxiety which forced me to find a doggy-daycare facility. Like many other reviewers here, after the initial evaluation at Hounds Town, I thought that the employees actually looked after the dogs and paid attention to the animals coming in and leaving the facility but after three days of daycare, I received a call to pick up my puppy, that he was severely ill. I left work, and flew to Hounds Town to find my little boy unable to walk, barely able to stand, with green mucus coming out of his nose. They told me he had thrown up three times and one of the girls even mentioned that it looked like he could have the flu. I took him immediately to the veterinarian who told me that he was in very bad shape and they started working on him immediately. My little boy was diagnosed with canine influenza. He died two days later. Canine influenza is not incredibly common. So for someone at Hounds Town to know that it had been present in their facility and to do nothing about it is shameful. They knew a dog was in there with it and choose to say nothing about it and my pups life was cut short at eight months because of it. Shame on Hounds Town. That place is an absolute disgrace. read more

I loved this place the second I walked in. The staff was so helpful and they are all so good to my puppy. I dropped him off for a full day of daycare and not only did he come back all cleaned up but they also gave him a report card!! So cute. Hounds Town is a godsend! We have a little Jack Russell/Dachshund mix named Ralphie who was becoming a real handful because we couldn't give him enough exercise. We starting bringing him here two times a week and it has made a huge difference! Ralphie can be a bit difficult but the girls there treat him wonderfully. He was abused before we adopted him and has a hard time trusting strangers, but he loves all the girls there. We've also had them give him a bath and he comes out silky and smelling great. This place is filthy and deceitful!! Please do not take your dogs here! I worked here for a brief time but quit after being upset over the care these dogs were given. The staff gives off the appearance of being caring dog lovers but in reality these dogs were barely interacted with and some were left outside in the pouring rain for a few hours before being taken in. The grooming tub was used to clean food bowls, a urine filled mop, poop filled crates and refill the dogs water. It was a breeding ground for bacteria. This place is generally sketchy and not a happy place for your dog. As a dog owner, it upsets me to see that people are paying to send their dogs there in expectation of receiving quality care. read more

A huge THANK YOU goes out to Hounds Town University at 12 Garrity Avenue Ronkonkoma, NY. Maximus our pet Rottweiller first attended Turbo Training, which is an 8 hour fast paced training course. At first I was a little concerned since Maximus was only 5 months old. We wanted to have our Rottie properly trained but thought the class might be too long for one session. You know the saying "time flys when you are having fun" well the day flew by, and Maximus and I learned so much from Mike and Jackie. I was really impressed with the training. I had attended a few puppy training classes prior to going to Houndstown. All I will say about that is....there are many out there that call themselves Dog Training Facilities.....BEWARE check it out. Take the time to visit Mike with your pup or adult dog, and I can tell you that it will be well worth your while. It was worth my 45 minute drive to have Maximus in great hands. Maximus went on to the 12-day Boot Camp. Mike posted videos of the training on the website....You can check out the video and his other training videos on his website. We are so happy with all of the training and all of the staff. In addition to all of the training, Maximus spent over a month at Houndstown for his vacation, while I was on mine. You know the stress involved of leaving your pets behind. I have to say that Maximus returned to us a happy, healthy, loving pet. I cannot thank Mike and his staff enough for giving Maximus the love and training he needed. We feel horrible about ever bringing our dog to Hounds Town. First off, they give your dog very minimal water (even when it's very hot outside) because they don't want them to pee. The dogs pee anyway, obviously, and then they wrestle and lay in it which leads your dog to come home smelling disgusting. Wipe them down with a wet paper towel and see what the towel looks like. Gross. Secondly, they are not watching your dog as they are in a room with many others! They watch from video cameras but MANY times I showed up to pick our dog up and NO ONE was even in the front office watching the monitors. Our dog is the sweetest dog ever and he started showing aggression and fear after staying at the boarding at Hounds Town. He was there for 3 days while I was giving birth and was not the same after that. It has been almost a year since we stopped bringing him there and it was a long process of getting him back to normal. His socialization had to be completely redone because he was left to fend for himself against other dogs that all wanted the little drop of water they give. They "group by size and temperament" but our dog has a lot of energy and he was put with dogs who have equal amounts of energy that don't know how to stop. He had to fend for himself and these dogs wouldn't let up. It's really sad. We will never take our dog there again and we should have listened to others that said the same. read more
