I boarded my dog at Hounds Town South Jersey Shore in Galloway from Aug 20-22 with pickup scheduled for 11am. I arrived around 11:08 and paid my bill with a 20% tip. After a delay, I was told my dog had just had diarrhea and was being cleaned. When he was finally brought out, he was in unacceptable condition! His back end still had poo, and his white fur was stained yellow, as well as blue stain on his paws. When I asked about it, I was first told it had "just happened," but then later told it occurred earlier that morning in his kennel, which was inconsistent and concerning. I immediately requested the 20% tip be refunded. I was only given three wipes to clean him after I specifically asked, which was completely inadequate for the condition he was in. I declined their offer to bathe him because I no longer felt comfortable leaving him in their care. Although I was eventually refunded for his full stay, the condition my dog was returned in and the conflicting explanations I was given were unacceptable. Even worse, it has now been three days since I picked him up and he is still experiencing diarrhea, to the point where I may need to take him to the ER. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this facility.

If you do not pay for extra the dogs only get walked 3 times a day for less than 5 minutes and no attention is paid to them. Even with play time during the day after 5:30 they do not get walked again or checked on it seems till 13 hours later at 6:30 the next morning. When we picked up our dog the place was barren outside and the play rooms looked pretty empty just sounds of howling dogs in cages. I asked how many dogs they had at that time and the worker said about 50, plus cats. No dogs playing outside, barely any playing inside, and only 3 people working for all of those dogs. We had a live feed of our dog and could see the dog next to it and it got sick in its cage and was not attended to for at least an hour. We also arrived at 12 PM like we were told and they tried to charge us an extra $60 for "late checkout" because it was after 11 AM.

I feel so fortunate to have found Paws First, which gives me the option to have my pets cared for in their own home. The ability to book online makes arranging for pet sitting so easy and convenient. Response time is always very quick, and the rates are reasonable for the peace of mind these people provide. I love getting email updates on how my dogs are doing. Even when they're naughty and get into the trash or have a little accident, everything is in order when I get home and my dogs are happy and loved. **Need to add an update because of one visit in particular. It has taken me a while to be able to write this. Over the Summer, I had the amazing folks from Paws First watching my dogs while I was away for the weekend out of state. My senior dog's health had been in decline for a while, but it didn't seem to be cause for too much concern- just typical old dog stuff. One night, her health took a very sudden and dramatic turn. It was clear that if she were brought in to the the vet that she would not be returning. I didn't want my old girl's last moments to be spent someplace unfamiliar. The staff at Paws First went above and beyond to provide extra care and comfort to her when she needed it most so I could race home to be with her. I am forever grateful for all they did for her.
